This is a tuff one, but I do love the challenge. I can't believe how quickly I reach exhaustion. It hurts, but feels so good after.

I just did my fit test as well, at least I know that it can only get better. Wow- I am starting pretty out of shape. Good luck, I can't wait to feel as powerful as I think I will in a few weeks.

I, like you, have the hardest time getting started, but know I feel great when I've finished a workout. I have cut out pics of what my "goal" body is and taped them next to my bed, on my bathroom mirror, and (most importantly) on the fridge. When I'm not wanting to tie my shoe laces that pic is in my mind and it gets me…

I have taped a motivational picture of how I want my body to look when I reach my goal on my refrigerator door. I've taken everything else off the door so I have to look at it before I make the choice to put something in my mouth that I shouldn't. It has really helped me take a second and think about it before I eat. Good…

Have you made a complaint to the management- I can't believe they wouldn't address it, they would have major issues with insurance if they have kids being unsupervised around the equipment.

That is inspiring, especially on a day when I keep staring at my running shoes and thinking of any excuse not to put them on. So I am going to go on that run and realize how far I have come in my first 25 days- thanks!

I have to say, I was completely shocked when I first started logging in my food. I had never been a calorie counter before, but MFP has made it so easy. I love getting recipes here from everyone for good healthy food that really fills you up and keeps me going. Good luck!

It is very hard to change your mindset, you probably lived for years not being happy with yourself. But you have done an amazing job- and just so you know, those people at the gym are probably looking at you thinking they wish they could look like you. There are very few of us out there who are satisfied with our physical…

I live by my grandmother's advice "Never Assume". I know for myself that if I assume a certain calorie burn, eat those extra calories, and then something comes up to interrupt the calorie burn I would be mad at myself (but I also use that extra calorie burn for an evening treat giving myself extra motivation to push harder…

I'm in (while I secretly hope that I can beat that number they put up, I'm pretty sure it'll be close). Good luck everyone!

There are so many factors in how your body is dealing with the food you consume- it is not all about the total calories. For your metabolism to speed up and for your body to correctly use the calories you need to be sure that you are eating the correct portions of carbs to proteins, etc. But as other replies have stated…

If you have a smartphone, there are some great apps to get you building up your running endurance. I use an app called Run Training, they have couch to 5K, couch to 10K, half marathon and full marathon training programs. It tells you when to run and when to walk and slowly builds up the time, the distance will come with…

when I get a sweet tooth craving I go for a Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola bar (only 100 cal and healthier sweets than the cookies I always want)

I saw a great graphic on Pinterest the other day that keeps me motivated. 5 lbs of fat on your body visually is like carrying around 3 large grapefruits, while 5 lbs of muscle are like 3 small tangerines. So if you aren't losing the lbs but losing the inches you are gaining in muscles which will in time burn more fat!

What an amazing job, the human body is absolutely amazing and as great of a job as they do, doctors do not know everything. I truly believe that modern drugs often stop our body from working properly. I appreciate the fact that you are not "advertising" here, but I would love to know about the vitamins you are taking.

The great thing is that you can still enjoy almost all the food from these places, if you do a search online you can find lots of their recipes, but made healthier (also a great cookbooks like "Eat More Of What You Love" can't remember who wrote it, but I bought on QVC.com)

I just recently started the couch to 10K, if you have a smartphone there is a great training app by Run Training, it has programs for 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon (tells you when to walk, when to run, etc and tracks your progress) Good luck, I'm also on the treadmill (at least until beautiful spring weather…

I think the biggest difference between their lifestyles and ours was how active they were their whole lives. We spend most of ours sitting, even if we are good at getting to the gym everyday most of our hours are spent sitting at a desk, in a car or on the couch. They weren't in front of the tv, they were working most of…

You will never get an accurate calorie, but close. You can pick up heart rate monitors anywhere for relatively cheap. I got one the other day for $30 at Walgreens. This is the only way to really know as everyone's fitness level is different no matter what your weight is
-
This is a great simple website that will calculate for you: (put in gender, weight, minutes and average heart rate) http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx

This seems to be the perfect goal for me. When I add in my daily exercise I actually find it hard to meet sometimes. (The exercise is key, on my days off then I find that I'm definitely over my calorie goal)

Thanks everyone, now I'm off to the grocery store

I picked one up at Walgreens- only about 30 dollars. I also found a website that you can put in your age, weight, time and average heart rate and it gives you a much more accurate accounting for calories burned. http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx
