  • The second one is more accurate. Oh, also you might want to look into getting a Misto, which is a pump for oil. It allows you to use any kind of oil you want in a spray, but you don't get all the chemicals that are included in Pam. I love mine and use it many times a day
  • same one here...I do laps and it works well
  • chicken tortilla soup is usually pretty low
  • What I have read is that if you can do more than 10 in sequence it isn't hard enough, once you get beyond 12 reps, then it is time to up the resistance, at least to be considered strength training.
  • I believe research shows that 8-12 hours is enough to do the trick regarding spike in calories. I spike on Saturdays and eat double my usual amount, but I don't eat my exercise calories during the week. This has been very effective for me.
  • I have my doctorate in clinical psychology...actually have 2 masters in psychology as well, one in adult and one in child/family. Long road, but have my own private practice and my license for about 7 years now. THIS is how I got fat!!! LOL :-)

  • I live in GA and I don't feel that way at all. Most of my friends work out regularly, the Silver Comet Trail is right down the street and is hopping with people running, biking and walking, and the gym I go to is packed. I
  • Yep, coffee helps me greatly with curbing my appetite after work. I drink 2 6oz cups a day and I think it his helpful more than harmful for me. Yes, the caffiene is not good for you, but it won't affect weight loss. In fact, there are some studies that show it actually boosts metabolism.
  • There are planned spike days that many people do, which is purposeful so that the body does not establish a homeostatis over time, which means that your metabolism decreases to adjust to the consistent lower calories. The body will adjust to anything to adapt. By upping your calories intermittently (most do it ever 7-10…

  • I have the Polar FT40 and use it daily. I went with this one because I can swim laps with it, as it is waterproof.

  • definitely my misto...use it several times a day for olive oil. Can't live without it
  • We are headed to Florida in 2 days for a beach trip. My plan is to continue to log because I want some accountability and I actually like doing it, so it isn't really a hassle for me. May be some estimating though. My plan is to take every opportunity I can to exercise and eat at maintanence. I am a pretty all or nothing…
  • My legs are two different sizes so I have to be very careful. I am a swimmer. Most nicer/bigger clubs have pools and it is one of the best exercises you can get. I swim laps and it burns a ton.
  • There is a difference between "cheating" and planned spikes in calories that are actually for a specific purpose. If you eat low calories everyday for weeks and weeks, most people hit a stopping point because your body is going to get used to anything and accommodate for that by lowering your metabolism. Therefore, every…
  • well I guess no one finds it as funny as I do :-)
  • 39 here and hanging on to my 30's by a thread, LOL :-) lost 23 pounds and about 10 to go...most importantly, I am trying to rearrange my outlook on "dieting" and the past focus on thin...and want to be healthy and happy. Would love to have some additional folks on my friend list :-)
  • I am not talking about minus exercise calories, there are just some individuals I have trouble supporting if they know they eat so little regularly that is it is clearly unhealthy. That would be the same thing as supporting individuals who over eat regularly. Totally not into drama either...
  • I don't eat my exercise calories, and instead choose to spike my calories on the weekend and eat what I want. Still the same deficit and it seems to keep coming off. AND....I get to eat what I want sometimes :-)
  • I have found that if you really pay attention to how your body feels after you eat unhealthy food, you really do want them less. I am a junk food and carb addict, aways have been. I eat low during the week, and then spike my calories on the weekend, particularly Saturday and eat what I want. It is amazing how freakin…
  • I really believe that different people need different amounts. I forced myself to drink over 8 cups a day and was miserable. I stayed with it for many months and my body never did adjust and I peed out so much of it constantly that it was even impacting my sleep greatly. The doctor said that the belief that everyone needs…
  • There is really a diffrence between wanting to be healthy and thin. I always focused on thin in the past and these types of meals may be helpful, but long term (from tons of experience), they are not healthy by any means. Focus on whole foods. I have no time either, and I work 50 hours a week, as well as have a child.…
  • It is very difficult. Even with shakes anb protein bars almost daily, I have a hard time getting over 100g a day. You don't need quite as much if you are not weightlifting and on days you do not exercise. You only need about 1/2 your weight on days your not exercising because it won't help. If you are working out very…
  • awesome work!!! New clothes are THE BEST!!!
  • I have two dove promises every night. I log them first thing in the morning :-) That is 88 calories a day I am not givng up. I have found that straight chocolate really hits the spot. Really good dark chocolate (55%-70%) is really good as well. I sometimes melt it down and drizzle it over fruit with a bit of whipped cream…
  • I have never liked it, and have avoided it like the plague for most of my life. However, once you force yourself to do it for a couple weeks, your body craves it and you start to recognize more and more how much better you feel. You have to tell yourself to just do it for 10 minutes, that is what it takes to give over the…
  • I swim laps as well, and I get bored just swimming for distance actually. HIIT with swiming is great where you do one lap as fast as you can then, take a 30 sec. break and then do it again. It builds your stamina a lot faster then lenght of time. Also, if you have not done so already, get some resistance gloves and fins,…
  • Yes, you can as long as you average the same amount under for the week. It is actually better to do it this way so that your metabolism does not establish a homeostasis. I have been doing it and have lost steadily without issue. However, I spike one day instead, and save all my exercise calories for Saturday and then eat…
  • Oh, I am quite fluent in sarcasm alright! I even have a 5-year-old in training who could outwit most adults with his sarcasm. HOWEVER, I warn you...I am a dichotomy because I indeed have a doctorate degree, but I cannot spell my name out of a box, as I am somewhat phonetically challenged! I just had to look up how to spell…
