  • Well, I wanted to update you guys about my appointment. It was awful. First, I told him why I was there: I think my medicine is wrong, I feel the hypothyroid symptoms, and most importantly the period coming every two weeks. Reiterate the zero thyroid function and complete dependency on medicine, so perhaps I should switch…
  • YES!! I started running in March of 2011 at 236 pounds (I'm 5 foot 2) on the treadmill. I downloaded the C25K app and used that. I was slow. sooooo slow. But I did it. Even though it took me another year and a half to get my crap together on eating, I never stopped running. Now I run twice a week, zumba twice a week, and I…
  • Aw man! Mine last foreeeeeever but aren't very heavy. I'm on Day 7, which is one day longer than what's normal, but it doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. Im glad you got that worked out! I called the nurse today to see if my results are in and she said that ONE of the results are in and that they'll have the other by…
  • holy cow I spent 2 hours last night reading just ONE of those websites. Thank you very much... they were very helpful!!
  • Thank you. That's helpful. I tried going the round-about way and asking for a "second opinion" referral (which is a real thing), but they said that since I haven't been seeing an endocrinologist on base (doesn't exist), I have to wait for a referral from the doctor. In the meantime, I'm just trying not to think about it…
  • I could, if they refer me to an off-base doctor. Or I could go to an off-base doctor and pay out-of-pocket, but I can't go while using insurance without "permission". I suppose I'll try for a referral if the results come back out-of-range again.
  • I was diagnosed when I was 12, and by that time my thyroid had been completely killed. I'm 27 now, and have quite a lot of trouble maintaining a "normal" range for blood work, but I've still managed okay. I think exercise is especially helpful in losing with the condition. My weight has fluctuated a lot over my life, and…
  • you look AMAZING!!! Great work! I also lost half a shoe size. Isn't that so weird?
  • Wow!! This is so awesome! Great work. I imagine it's a bit easier to drag those deer from the woods, too.
  • I'm always amazed at how much younger and happier people look!! Fantastic work. You've done an outstanding job.
  • If you look at the big picture the entire time, it'll seem impossible. I recommend taking it in increments. I chose 10 pound increments because I had 100 pounds to lose. Ten pounds is way less intimidating than 100.
  • Love it! You look so great. It's funny how different the SAME glasses look on a person when their face is so much smaller. Well done. :)
  • Aw that's pretty awesome. Good idea to listen to those podcasts. I imagine it's hard to be off track when you've got her in your ear. :) Thank you--she's sweet, too, so she's a double whammy. :)
  • Thank you :) He's not deployed now. He was in 2010-2011 and will be again next year, but he has been here for the whole deal. :)
  • Awesome!! Great job to the both of you. :)
  • Thank you! I can't wait, either, but I'm not gonna rush it. :) I kind of enjoy the journey now. It's the strangest thing. haha. :)
  • YAAAAAAYY!!!!! "Overweight" sounds so much better than "Obese", doesn't it? :) Great work!
  • Exactly!! And you know what? If you had asked me at 236 pounds if I have enough energy to play and run and dance, I would've said, "absolutely!", but that's because I didn't really know what the possibilities were! Now I really do have the energy required to play freeze tag. :) It'll be so awesome to see how it changes…
  • Great job on your loss!! I like that 5 foot 2 (and a half!). haha. What is your goal weight?
  • I started in a 22 and am currently wearing 13/14. It has taken around 9 months and 50 pounds to get that far, at a very slow weight loss pace (avg 1 pound per week). Also a very very pear shape, so I'm not sure how small those hips could really get, but I'm pulling for a single digit. :)
  • You can go in and add a previous weight, even one before starting myfitnesspal. :)
  • WHAAATT! Awesome job! You look like you could be brothers, but not the same person! Isn't it crazy how much your appearance changes when you lose? Great job!
  • I only looked a few days back, but wondered what's happening on the days that you're not logging your food? Are you still conscious of what you're eating or are those "cheat days"? I think trying to be very consistent logging for a long period of time would help you see a little more clearly what you can do to overcome the…
  • haha thanks! She doesn't usually wear pants (dresses only) but I convinced her to wear jeans to match me that day, so it was extra exciting and definitely deserving of a silly face. :)
  • No way! I understand exactly what you mean. Plus, not that extra weight doesn't negatively effect boys, too, but I've definitely learned from this website that there are WAAAY more teenage girls who struggle with eating disorders than I ever realized. So much pressure.
  • haha! Love it!
  • thank you!
  • Awesome job!! You absolutely ARE a RUNNER now. :)
  • woah!!! That's awesome. You look super great.
  • thank you so much. :)
