  • WOw-Karma really took a beat down on your sister, huh? I don't blame you for feeling good in front of her!
  • I am tearing up! That must have felt SO awesome!
  • Look up the recipe for zuppa toscana from Olive Garden!
  • To caramelize them, you need butter. I still use butter. I refuse to cook with margarine. I just use LESS than what most recipes call for. The trick is to cut them REALLY thin. They should look like paper shreds that went through a paper shredder. Heat a skillet(a cast iron will work best, but another kind will work) and…
  • mango greek yogurt mixed with Splenda and peanut butter
  • cellulite on my upper thighs/butt.
  • I like to people watch in the parking lot at my gym, so I grab whatever one is not obstructed by a pole. For elliptical, I take whatever is behind my treadmill(since I often split time between the 2) or in front of the tv show I want to watch. I pay no mind to the people next to me, though I do look at their stats-like how…
  • Play with yourself or play with a friend!
  • That is so helpful. Thanks for your post!
  • Just be sure the trainer is working for YOU and not trying to put their own biases and preferences in your workouts. I spoke to one just today at my gym for some advice. What I THOUGHT was a simple question-should I increase # of days in the gym or increase time in the gym the days I'm there. He started talking to me about…
  • I'm with the pp-if my spouse were MEAN to me by saying condescending remarks, I'd get hot and LEAVE! That is emotional ABUSE. Yeah, he may not be punching your face, but if he is destroying your self worth, same difference. I hope you can find strength inside and out, become the person YOU want to be and then decide if…
  • Is she a stay at home mom? Does she REALLY have any time that she CAN devote to herself? And when I say CAN, I mean is the 4 year old in preschool more than just say 2 hours a week. I had both my girls in preschool when I started back to the gym. They were there for about 4 hours-so I could work out, do some shopping alone…
  • Not a company, but a few years ago during the NCAA basketball tourney, Bradley played Pittsburgh. The scoreboard on TV read Brad Pitt
  • Fruit salad! Buy the canned "fruit cocktail" and then have real fruit salad.
  • I'd eat a dinner until full and then maybe a snack before bed. Apples and peanut butter are a go to for me for a night snack. On days I work out, I sometimes don't hit my calorie goal. I think the past 2 days I've been under. Today I may go a tad over since it is my rest day. I wouldn't worry about 1 day. If it were a…
  • I'd try to stay in calorie range, BUT, I'd eat what sounded good first and foremost. I'm of the belief that the body will tell you what it needs. If it is telling you some soup and a nap, then do it!
  • Try to find a small, private gym and ask them. They usually have owners on site or available by phone to speak to as opposed to the main gyms who have huge corporate things to deal with. Maybe even call personal trainers in your area. Depending on your goals, you may be able to spend $ on a personal trainer to help you…
  • Yummy goodness! Spread a ripe one on a sandwich instead of mayo-YUMM!!
  • I haven't used Gu brand, but I used the clif shots during a 1/2 and liked them. I actually like Sports Beans made by Jelly Belly better. I can pop 3 of them after mile 3 or so. I cannot run and drink gatorade, so this works for me. Once Gu is opened, it isn't like you can reuse it like you can the beans.
  • If you shop at "regular" stores, shop the ads and plan the meals around what is on sale. Breakfast can be done uber cheap-eggs, oatmeal and whole wheat toast. Stay away from name brand cereals that are NOT on sale. Does Trader Joes accept food stamps? If so, some of their items are WAY cheaper than name brands and even…
  • Read up on Chicory root, the first ingred. in these bars and you'll see why people steer clear of them.
  • Read the ingredients. The Fiber one bars mentioned-the first 2 ingred. are chicory root(which causes gas. bloating and other intestinal issues for many) is #1 followed by sugar. Othe bars contain artifical flavors, coloring, corn syrup..... I try to find bars where the list is mostly grains, nuts and/or fruit and then the…
  • Good for you! THat is cool that your gym has a challenge. I'd love to do something like that with others at the gym, not just alone.
  • Would you clarify something for me OP-You state you are doing 1 hour of weight training, but when you listed your workout, you showed only 4 exercises. If you are only doing 3 sets of 10 reps, why is that taking you an hour? How long are you resting between sets? Are there a lot of warm-up sets that you didn't mention?
  • What do you mean by "show results"? Are you meaning how long will it take to get ripped and in competition shape or how long to see a difference in your body? I started a program 5 weeks ago and have already lost inches and can see a difference. Of course, I've also increased protein intake, am keeping my calories at a…
  • All of your workouts are strictly cardio. I trained for a 1/2 marathon this summer and lost NOTHING. Add strength training into the mix and you will LOOK better (losing those INCHES we care about). I've only lost 1 lb in the past 5 weeks, but I've lost a LOT in inches, I can see muscles that were hiding before.
  • Thank you so much for sharing. And your haircut is SO freakin' AWESOME on you! I've been telling myself I can reach my goals by not dieting the way figure competitors do, but I'm just kidding myself. I'm thinking 5 months of sacrificing some sugar to reach my goals isn't going to kill me.
  • I took pics at the beginning of the year and haven't taken any since I restarted weight training. I need to, though. I take measurements every couple weeks. I almost HAVE TO do measurements. My weight is very SLOW dropping since I've added weight training back, so I need SOMETHING to tell me I'm making progress since the…
  • I have a friend who is close to 40 who has never wanted children. I just call it "Being true to YOURSELF" Parenting is freakin' HARD and if it doesn't interest you, you aren't "wired for it", you cannot afford children, or whatever else your reason(s) may be, they are YOUR reasons. I'd rather have a childless friend who…
