Bump

This is what happens, it can be hard at first but you will get there

I only have a few pounds to go and slow and steady helps me get used to the new portion control that I lacked before. I am now happy that I will be able to maintain my eating style for the rest of my life and not over eat like I used to.

So true! Never tracked calories before but MFP is easy and I've been losing 0.5lb a week steadily. Loving it. I keep trying to explain to those that want to know how I've lost weight just how simple it is, but they can't bring themselves to try it. They aren't losing any weight, unsurprisingly

A healthy diet is eating natural foods, not processed, as much as possible. BUT you can eat anything you want in moderation. Don't deprive yourself, you should be able to maintain what you eat for the rest of your life and if that includes the occasional pre-prepared meal, chocolate or other processed item then try to work…

Try doing a vegetable stir fry with beans. You can have a huge portion of that on low calories. Then grill some chicken for the toddler and partner. This is how I get round having a power lifter in the house!! Also I do other dishes that have rice ie chilli beans, fish kerala, etc but I only have veg not the rice.

Sounds great, one for me to try

Excellent idea, I'll try that

Do a stir fry with a tablespoon of soy sauce and a tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce and a small teaspoon of sugar/honey Shred carrot into any mince/ground meat dishes. Or puree any combination of veg to stir into your normal dishes. Add more as time goes by, you'll get used to the taste. Curry vegetables with chicken/tofu…

Risotto is a quick, easy meal that can be eaten hot or cold. This should be enough for 2/3 meals depending on your appetite Steam some veg of your choice Chop tofu (fresh or smoked) into cubes Heat oven to 200 C Saute some onion & garlic in butter until soft in an overnproof pan with lid Stir in herbs of your choice Stir…

Sure  What do you fancy eating? I've probably got a recipe for it!

LOL I eat lots of vegetables, fish, beans, lentils, etc. I have to cook everything (well, in truth my partner is in charge of cooking  ) because I can only eat salad or baked potato as a safe option when I go out unless it is a known venue that caters for my weird diet. My partner has a repetoire of chinese and…

I'm pescatarian, intolerant to wheat, cow dairy, msg, cruciferous vegetables, peanuts, vinegar and locust bean gum. Does that help?

ice pop in the US = ice lolly in the UK Also found this about modified starch 'Always check the ingredient list as gluten comes in many forms such as vegetable protein, or modified starch that can be derived from wheat (exclude maltodextrine, dextrin and malt flavouring, unless derived from corn).' from…
-
Modified starch can be made from wheat but be gluten free. If you react to wheat as well as gluten I would say you need to avoid it. I just found out I can't eat locust bean gum after eating an ice lolly!!

Bisto Best Gravy Granules are gluten free (UK)

Yes, pretty much. Record your food every meal and also any physical reactions. You may spot a correlation between the physical response to what you eat. Food intolerances can take 48 hours to manifest themselves but most people I know react within a few hours. My intolerances are quite bad so range from 15 minutes (MSG &…

Peanuts aren't nuts, they are legumes (beans)

The calculator doesn't use your BMR, just the value of your normal daily calories less 500 a day to lose the 1lb. Try starting by eating your BMR calories and see how that goes NB It told me to eat 1200 a day to lose a 1lb a week. I opted to eat 1500 a day and have been losing 1lb every 2 weeks. This matches what I wanted…

Are you intolerant to the food you eat as a cheat? Do you feel bloated after eating it? I gain lbs when I eat something I am intolerant to and it takes 3 days for my body to go back to normal (I am intolerant to wheat, msg, cow dairy & cruciferous vegetables)

Fill any empty space in your freezer with cardboard boxes to keep it running ok until you have filled it up Good luck

Protein helps you feel fuller for longer. I go for soya yoghurts or soya dessert pots, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts or peanut butter on a rice cake

I used to do OMC (once a month cooking) and it works great. One day cooking 7 or eight dishes which split into 6-8 portions gives variety and I don't have to cook that often. When I had time I would cook another dish (another 6-8 portions) and add the extra to the freezer so keeping it topped up all the time.

Well said!

Puree veg to add to the sauce of your dishes. I'm pescatarian ( a vegetarian who eats fish) and even I don't like piles of veg on my plate. Veg combined in dishes is much nicer

It works out on what you say you want to lose a week. So for each pound off it cuts 500 calories from your daily allowance. Your daily allowance is what your BMR + work is. 1200 is as low as it will go. When I started it said 1200. I laughed and changed it to 1500. I've been losing 0.5 lb a week so I reckon I'm right and…

I'm in Cornwall, UK and on this side of the water we have little GF outside the cities, but it is getting better. I regularly go somewhere they say they do GF to only find baked potato or salad as an option. :ohwell: If you're coming over here you might find http://www.coeliacmap.com/ useful.
