I walked my first 5K in May. It was a chipped race, but, I walked, and had a great time. I am doing the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving day here, and am hoping to run at least 1/2 of it. I have a friend who has started me on a C25K type program, but set for a 5-6 week build up.

I have arthritis in both knees, and I tried Zumba for the first time the other nite. It never bothered my knees, suprisingly. Im going to go back to tomarrow nights class and give it a try again. I wasnt able to do a lot of the high energy movements, but I kept moving, and I got a really good workout without hurting my…

Welcome!!!! Your never to old to start this journey. Im 49, and have lost 45lbs so far. I still have quite a bit to go though. My trainer, has several clients that are in their late 60's, who just have started in the last year or so to lose weight. So, NO, you are not to old!!

What has worked for me is signing up with a trainer. I have a standing appt 2x a week for 1/2hr. By doing it that way, its made me keep it in the forefront, and not as easy to cancel or decide I just dont want to go for whatever reason. Its well worth the money, and he keeps me motivated, and keeps it fun. Hard, but fun.

Im almost done with book 3. I'll probably finish it tonite. I like the idea of Ryan Gosling in the lead. If the lead were a bit older though, I would have to say George Clooney, Richard Geer, or Sean Connery. Although, I know that they are much older than the character. In my mind, they are who I see as I get lost in the…

We havent done one at work, but I have done several at my gym. I work in a small office, and everyone in the office goes to the same gym. So, we all participated in at the gym. It was great. It was done based on percentage lost. I placed 3rd in one, and won the one that finished 2 weeks ago. They are normally only last 6-8…

I was wondering that too..............What are DOMS?

I know my trainer said that 30mins of steady workout done correctly is enough. I train 3 days a week, 30mins sessions, and try to hit the gym another 2 days for 30-45mins of cardio and I am seeing results. But, I will say, I dont push myself as hard as he pushes me. He gets more into 30mins of workouts than most trainers…

I just did my first 5K today. It was an awesome expirence. I was no where near ready for it. I ended up walking most of it. But, I did run in intervals. I had a "runner" that was with me, and she kept me going. Run to that sign, then walk............run to that stop light.........walk, etc. She kept me focused and going.…

49yr 197 27% body fat. When I started working out, I was at 229, and 34+%body fat. Ive still got a long ways to go, but even when I was younger, and weighed less, my body fat percentage was always high. This is the first time in my life that Ive been in the "acceptable" range and not "obese" as far as body fat percentage…

That article made my day!! Made me think that there is actually hope for me yet. Ive got my first 5K coming up May 19th. Im just hoping to run more than I walk of it.

I would do it in a heartbeat!!! But, i bet if you tell the receptionist, what your wanting, they wont charge you. Ive worked in that position, and even though office policy said one thing, I would have made an exception on some circumstances. That being one of them. Good luck, and Congrats on the awesome job!!!
