  • I should have done more this weekend than I actually did, mainly because I had the time. Instead I did a 40 min treadmill video on Sat and 60 min of cross country skiing yesterday. I also practiced some jazz and classical music (I play trombone in several bands) which supposedly is exercise but I didn't add that in. My…
  • I usually eat one for lunch 5 days a week because I have a very short lunch break. Calories range from 170 to 300. I don't eat much sodium food otherwise so I don't worry about it. I average about 700mg out of the daily maximum 2500mg (for me). I really like the variety compared to others, but occasionally I will get…
  • I just bought some spaghetti squash yesterday and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it. Thanks for the suggestion! Butternut squash is good too for making soup or a side dish.
  • Maybe you could turn an old piece of rope or cord into a jump rope... And if you have a stereo you could just dance to the music. That can be a great workout and fun!
  • I don't know how many times I have had to mop up the floor because my boyfriend didn't notice the shower curtain half in and half out! Good thing our mirror is to high to admire certain features!
  • Count me in. My short term was to lose 30 by the end of May and 40 by the end of August, but things are "working out" and I've already lost 12 so I may actually be able to lose all 40 by June 30th.
  • That is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while! I'm female and I think that way all the time! Who wants to be uncomfortable all day or night long? (I do match though:smile: ) My boyfriend told me at the beginning of our relationship that one of the things he appreciated about me the most is that I am not…
  • I switch it up according to my mood and what machine I am on. Usually techno, fast hip hop or pop on the treadmill (Prodigy, Black Eyed Peas, etc) . If I'm struggling I put on some metal like Rage Against the Machine or old skool Metallica. I have my ipod hooked up to the stereo using bluetooth so I can change the music…
  • I'm not one to drink plain milk either, mainly from being lactose intolerant. But I now have one small glass of Silk Light Vanilla Soymilk each day and it is yummy. Only 80 cals one glass. I also take a multivitamin for extra calcium. You could also add milk to your tea.
  • I only have 30 min for lunch (and that includes walking to and from home). I eat Lean Cuisine frozen lunches because I think they have the best variety. And reports have said they are the healthiest of the "healthy" frozen meals. They use brown rice sometimes and lots of veggies. Maximum daily salt intake is about 2500 and…
  • I used to be that partner that didn't want to exercise. I can't really explain why, but I just went through a phase and wasn't into working out. My boyfriend is an exercise nut, always out doing something. You could tell how disappointed he was when I didn't want to go for a long hike, etc. The more he pushed the more I…
  • 1. For me 2. For my boyfriend (future husband) who was concerned about my bad habits (we are now having the greatest time together finding new healthy foods, learning about nutrition and comparing workouts) 3. For my health. My cholesterol and blood pressure had gone up quite a bit and that is unacceptable. (I recommend…
  • One of my favorite quick meals is called Almond Chicken. Put some chicken breasts in a pan and cover with a small amount of brown sugar, garlic salt and almonds. Bake for 20 min at 350 or 400. You could eat it with some instant brown rice from the microwave.
  • Personally I don't think I could go an entire day without anything but water. If I tried to exercise I would just fall over! However, I recently read an article about the Mormon faith and how they fast one day per month. Apparently it helps their health (but so does not drinking caffeine and alcohol). I agree that fruit,…
  • Welcome! I have friends from Plymouth. Cute town.
  • I have used supplements that have green tea extract in them, but I could never take the recommended dosage. The bottle said something like 2 tablets 2x a day. I could never take more than one at a time or I would get lightheaded and nauseous. I don't take them everyday either because I don't want my body to rely on them…
  • Lizard is just a nickname that has stuck since about 8th grade (my name is Elizabeth but it sounds to formal so I have always gone by Liz). The first tattoo I got in college was a lizard in honor of my nickname. I got my first email address back in 1998, so I tried lizard98 which was taken, as was lizard980. So I ended up…
  • Right now I am 172. I would like to be 160 by Valentines Day which I think is possible. 159 would be even better!!
  • End of 2007 weigh in - 172.2 (started at 182.5 in November) Goal by May 31st - 150.0 Goal by Sept 1st - 140.0 We'll see after that. Nothing under 135 though. Not healthy. Great job Eve and Julie!! Keep it up:flowerforyou:
  • I am 5'8". I started in November at 182.5. Currently 172.2. My 6 month goal is 150 and my 1 year goal is 140. So 30-40 lost. It has taken me almost 10 years to put on the extra 40 so I don't expect it to come off quickly. If nothing else, my eating habits have improved so much in one month that I already feel better about…
  • I agree with the elliptical. I bought mine at Wal Mart for $150. It's not fitness club quality but it does the job. It's great for a quick calorie burn and I haven't grown tired of using it almost everyday for weeks now. But, heck, if you could find a Bowflex for $300 go for it.
  • I said at the beginning of this whole diet that I did not want to be miserable for the next 6 months. Yes I want to lose weight, but not at the the risk of my sanity and healthy relationships. If I have a bad day because I am with friends and enjoy things a little too much, oh well. There will always be time to make up for…
  • Started 182.5 Current - 173.6 Only 1.4 lost this week but I still say any loss over the holidays is more than most people. And apparently I burned 950 cals yesterday just by snowboarding which seems wrong because it is way too fun! Happy Holidays!! :flowerforyou:
  • I am having a really hard time getting back into my routine after a 3 wk vacation (where I gained 3.5 lbs) mainly because I am so busy catching up on everything that I don't have time to workout. Fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I overate on vacation and just plain wasn't hungry most of last week which helped…
  • I seem to be on the exact same track as mom_luk. Started this about 6 wks ago. Lost 5 lbs in the first 2 wks and then went on a 3 wk work/vacation and gained 3.5lbs. It has been hard getting back into the swing of things after eating and drinking what I wanted to on vacation. Thing is I weighed in 6 lbs less after this…
  • Start 182.5 Current 181.0 I was down to 177.5 after 2 weeks but then I went to Central America for 3 weeks and gained most of it back. Considering how much I ate I was actually happy with only gaining 3.5 lbs! Apparently rice and beans everyday isn't totally bad for you! And surfing was such great exercise. I wish I could…
  • I have an elliptical, treadmill and bike. The elliptical is great to burn calories fast when I only have 30 min for a workout. I hope to have a tv setup in my basement in the next few weeks to kill the time since you can't really read while on the elliptical (i save that for my bike days).
  • Here are a few recipes we make in our breadmachine - Heavenly Whole Wheat Bread (1 lb loaf) 3/4 c water 1 1/3 c whole wheat flour 2/3 c bread flour 1 tsp salt 3 tbsp applesauce (butter) 1 tbsp sugar 3 tbsp instant potato flakes 1 1/2 tsp yeast Hearty Oat & Walnut Bread 1 1/4 c warm water 1 tbsp margarine 3/4 c walnuts 1…
  • 11/2 - 182.5 11/9 - 180.0 11/16 - 177.0 So 5.5 lbs in 2 weeks. Pretty steady and healthy I would say. I am pleased. Unfortunately (well not really!) we leave for vacation on Sunday for 3 weeks. I will try to still eat healthy and get exercise somehow, but you know how vacations can be... The nice thing is that I know it…
  • I played tennis on my lunch break in 20 degree weather today! The sun was out, but they were still making snow on the ski slopes a few blocks away! Hard to say how productive it was. I never really warmed up. I will do some more cardio at home tonight. I did 90 min on the treadmill yesterday and came in about 500…
