Good morning! May we all have the luck o' the Irish this week!:drinker: My week was bad and good. I tried to fix my broken elliptical machine but it didn't work so I am waiting on a replacement part. That left me with the treadmill which hurts my right hip after a while for some reason. So I didn't work out much, but I…

Less than one week to sign up!!

Bison (buffalo) is the healthiest meat out there according to the USDA. Followed by deer, turkey, chicken, beef and pork. And bison tastes just like beef, but better!! You can make a very healthy stew using bison and a lot of veggies. I still eat meat, but load up the veggies on the side.

I did the same thing. On here (above) it is listed Group Name and then Group ID. On the fitness site it is the other way around. You enter Group ID first and then Group name... Hope that helps!
-
Thanks Kelly! I have added the group to my profile. Let's kick it up a notch and see how many points, pounds lost, hours exercised, etc we can add up together!! liz:glasses:

I emailed Polar as well and received an even worse answer - they said they couldn't help me and I should talk to a personal trainer!! What? So I took matters into my own hands and wore the device for an entire day minus sleeping. In 14 hours I burned about 1950 calories. Add about 600 while sleeping and that totals up to…

I can get gas for as low as 3.03 here in Wyoming - home of the infamous Jonah Field. Google it sometime. Used to have the cleanest air in the country and now there are health alerts telling children not to play outside because of the pollution. Not to mention all of the wildlife that have been displaced. Do not get me…

I always weigh in on Monday. Inevitably I will cheat and look at the scale on Th or Fri and it always shows that I have lost another 2 lbs. Come Monday, though, I have put one of those pounds back on. I don't try to understand it anymore. I found out something very interesting yesterday.... I wore my Polar heart monitor…

Yes, you should be eating 1500 calories per day if you are burning 100. As for how accurate the machine is - the best way to tell is by using a heart rate monitor ($40-$160). I have found that I am actually burning less calories than what the machine shows. The difference becomes greater the faster I am going.

Seems like people may have too many other things going on right now. Guess we can do the challenge individually. Have fun!
-
I don't normally log on until around 8:30am MST, but if I don't see a post by then I will start it up!
-
Setting up a group isn't too complicated, but let's see how many are interested. There is one group administrator who sets it up and then posts the group id number for everyone else. I don't know how much personal information the administrator has access to.

If anyone is interested, there is a nationwide fitness challenge that begins on March 20 and goes until May 15, 2008. It is free and for all ages. You can choose your activity level and make goals from there. If you are really active you can "compete" with others of the same level. It's just one more way to motivate…

You are right. That is a very lazy and confusing response. One sentence! I take from it that if the OwnCal DOES include the BMR that you still need to subtract it. I will see if I can get a better answer from them. It is a pretty big issue if you are out doing something for 8 hours and do/do not have to subtract 500…
-
My BMR is right around 60 cal/hr. So to test it I put my Polar F11 on for 15 minutes while just laying in bed doing nothing, and it accurately showed a burn of about 15 calories. If BMR was automatically removed than wouldn't I have burned zero?? For now, I still subtract BMR, but it would be awesome if I didn't have…

Congrats Kistin!! It is so nice to see the scale move again.:drinker: Have a great vacation! I was out of town last week and I also didn't work out much and ate worse than usual. My body needed that kick as well. I dropped several pounds while gone and then gained some back over the weekend, but still ended up with a loss.…
-
Now that I have been out of town for a week I already forget what happened last week!! I was the first week with my F11. It works well, and I was in for quite a shock to see how many calories I was really burning! My elliptical (cheap model) would say like 400 for 20 minutes but the HMR only said 200 cals. So I have been…

This will be fast as I am leaving town right now. I will report more when I return this weekend. Last week - 161 Today - 158.2 First week with my Polar F11 watch. I will give my thoughts on that later. Have a good week!!:flowerforyou: liz
-
Thanks Banks. I had been wondering, and I was already subtracting my BMR from the cals it showed. I burn far fewer cals than the machines say, but I guess it's never too late to learn that.
-
Congrats on thinking ahead! I am traveling this next week for work and bringing my own food as well. I won't have any exercise equipment, but I can use my new Polar heart monitor watch to check cals burned through work, and I plan on bringing my laptop with some exercise dvds. I hope I have success like everyone else has!
-
It's like I NEED to log in my exercise and food immediately afterwards or something awful will happen! Now, when I tell my boyfriend "I just want to log my cals burned quickly and then I can help you with dinner" he says "Un-huh, tell me when you're off and THEN we'll start dinner.."! I will be in the middle of nowhere…

www.caloriesperhour.com It has a large variety of activities and the calories burned. For Tae-Bo you can choose something like Basic, Moderate or Vigorous. And you put your weight in so it is more accurate.

Thanks for mentioning that. I was wondering. I am still waiting for mine this afternoon... UPS man!!!

You could ask your pub if they will substitute the chips on the side with a salad (if they serve salads anyway). I guess I am lucky because mine will do that for a little extra fee. I, personally, have a glass of wine with dinner almost every night and I have lost an average of 1.5 lbs per week. It all depends on your…

I should get mine tomorrow so I will try it out and let you know.

A blah week for me as well. This whole month has been good week, blah week, good week, blah week. We had a house guest on Tues so I didn't work out and went over on calories. Wed and Thurs were great salad days to make up for it. Friday is our going out night and I was famished! I ate my whole pizza... (thin crust at least…

Today I burnt 1100 calories doing 5 hours of snowboarding in 12" fresh powder!! What a great day. If exercise was that much fun all the time I would have to quit my job:tongue: The perfect end to my week, and I got to eat a big fat burrito with a beer afterwards (and calories remaining)!:drinker:

http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/category-basic-plus.html A good site to compare the different Polar models. Like others said, the F11 has the Fitness Test, Keep U Fit, comfortable transmitter with replaceable battery and personal targets for the exercise diary. Otherwise same as F6. I have decided to go with the F11…
