Good luck! I am also a past smoker of 11 years. Quit when I met my boyfriend almost 5 years ago. You will feel so good once you get over that initial hump of headaches, cravings and irritibility. When you want a smoke try to work out instead and see if the adreneline helps...:flowerforyou:

I am just shy of 5'9" and was also 150 lbs when I met my boyfriend. I knew I was a tad heavier than normal but nothing detremental. Now that I've started this I was Plesantly Surprised at 180, Very Happy at 170, Giddy now at 160. I'm sure I will be Ecstatic at 150 again and pass out at 140 (from joy, not starvation!!)…

Two servings of oatmeal is only 300 cals and pretty filling, or you can buy the lower sugar instant oatmeal for 120 a packet. Egg Beaters with lots of veggies like broccoli and peppers only adds up to around 100 cals. You could even add some turkey bacon or a slice of ham. I personally like the Kashi waffles for 170 per…

At least you set a weight that you do not want to go under; however, I agree with the others. Sounds way too low for someone only 2" shorter than me. Healthy would be in the 120's and very toned from exercise - which you don't mention. Please consult a physician or have a fitness exam performed.

Welcome, and congrats on being so thorough from the get-go. Keep it up!:drinker:

BUMP! Great thread with great questions and answers. I wish there was another message board section where people would just post their specifics (average weight loss per week, total weight loss per month/overall, average exercise per day/week and calorie intake, etc.) for people to read. I think newbies would be surprised…

As of this morning I reached my halfway goal and have lost 22.5 lbs!

Happy Birthday! Going over on cals happens to the best of us. Being able to celebrate and then get back on track is ok. I had a friend visiting and didn't work out, and ate way too much, myself. Back to high gear for the both of us!!

That is fantastic to see your levels decrease so much, and encouraging to many of us. I also had my levels tested last October and found they were high. I am waiting until the Health Fair here in April to test again. I hope to see results similar to yours!!

Great job Alaska! There is nothing better than being able to eat a little more, or eat something "sinful", after a great workout!! I went on a 2 hr cross country ski this afternoon in the amazingly warm sun and burned around 1000 cals. Fun AND healthy, and a needed dose of Vit D sunshine!

That is great!! Congratulations!!:flowerforyou:

I had a so-so week. I was down 1 lb from Monday to Valentines Day but then nothing changed and I finished the week with 1 lb lost. It wasn't the greatest weekend calorie wise. There was a hockey game Fri night, a jazz gig Sat night and horse races yesterday. Needless to say I drank way too much:drinker: , so I should be…

Just add "aerobics" (because it can be... ) and manually enter in the minutes and how many calories depending on light, moderate or vigorous. I think CaloriesPerHour has Light around 75, Moderate around 95, Vigorous around 110 per hour. (Not that I've looked it up before or anything...!)

I also missed my goal by 1 pound! Started Challenge - 172 Goal - 160 Ended - 161 I'm pleased with my results overall since I started several months ago. Lost a few inches. Older pants are fitting again. Pretty excited to see if I can make the July Challenge now. Good job everyone! :drinker: Happy Valentine's Day

I think you are focusing on the "losing weight" part a little bit too much and not enough on the "eating healthy" part. Don't you feel better about eating right and being nicer to your body? I hate to say it, but if you want McD's THAT bad then go if it will make you feel good emotionally. You can work it off with…

Hmmm. I work at a fish hatchery...does that mean that I have 400,000 pet fish??!! Actually, we get a handful of blue trout every year (genetics) and they would die in the wild. So I kept one and named it Nemo (gimpy fin). We still don't know if it is a boy or girl after 3 years! I'm going to find out this year...…
Quote: Hmmmm...grilling's only for summer???? we grill year round.
When it's -20 outside and your deck is covered with 2 feet of snow you have to REALLY want to grill...

I am not a morning person which makes a decent breakfast challenging.:ohwell: I ran out the door this morning with a Kelloggs Nutri Grain breakfast bar, two hard boiled egg whites and an orange. Lunch will be some kind of Lean Cuisine meal (no time for lunch either). Dinner will be leftover whole wheat pasta with squash…

Funny, I just had spritzers on my salad last night. Ken's Steakhouse makes several flavors at 15 cals per 10 sprays. And I can't wait for summer grilling season when I can spray my chicken instead of using fattening sauces!

Cross country skiing, snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing all burn around 1000 cals per hour. Try to get out and enjoy the snow while getting great exercise in!! There is nothing better than a nice cross country ski in the warm spring sun... but then again winter is my favorite season:tongue:

I took mine apart and oiled it again. The squeaks were back within a week. It was a cheapo from WalMart, Weslo brand. I agree with peacefulwarrior - turn the music up!

That is wonderful that people are starting to notice your hard work! Congratulations!! Hang in there, and keep those positive stories coming :flowerforyou:

Two weeks ago I had gained 1 lb thanks to a certain time of month among other things. But this week I dropped back down and then some by sticking to my plan. I knew we were going out to eat on Friday like usual so I ran 1 mile, elliptical for 30 min, TaeBo for 30 min, situps, etc. On Saturday we went on a 3 hour cross…

Is anyone else staying home and cooking a nice meal for Valentines Day instead of going out? Just wondering what others are making... My boyfriend and I take turns every year cooking what the other person requests. This is my year to cook but he is being supportive so I get to pick the meal to make sure it is healthy. He…

I am a big fan of oatmeal with fruit for breakfast. It is good, great for you, and filling. Maybe you could have a protein shake for a snack instead after working out. You could also add avocado to your salad.

We have something similar, an 8 Grain Hot Cereal, that we use when making homemade bread. Great stuff. And Flaxseed is good when added to oatmeal as well.

I agree. I have been at this for 2 months now and lose an average of 10 lbs per month. I try to eat as much of my earned exercise calories as I can. On days I don't exercise I only eat the 1200 cals. But Friday I burned 900 cals and I thoroughly enjoyed going out for dinner and drinks as a reward:tongue: I have lived in a…
