  • Loved Shoulders and Arms yesterday!! Triceps are my favorite muscle  And for some reason I had extra energy afterwards to run 1.5 miles. Today I'm swamped and don't have 90 min for yoga. We'll see what happens. My back is sore and I'm not sure what caused it. I'm thinking today is rest day and I'll do yoga on Sunay…
  • We met through a friend. I was moving to town and a mutual friend told both of us that we should get together and talk about our separate Peace Corps experiences. Because of the years we finished PC (1996 and 2002) I thought he was older and he thought I was younger (turns out we are less than 1 yr apart). I opened my door…
  • I hate the yoga as well. I honestly don't have time for a 90 min session tomorrow so I will be doing cardio on my own. I may try yoga on my rest day since I barely burn calories doing it and it seems similar to stretch anyway.
  • Definitely try using dumbbells, or you can buy pushup handles. They help a ton! I think that is why I never liked pushups before (not that I love them now..)
  • It could take up to a year once you finish the application, so good luck with the jobs. They defer your loans while in PC...
  • I had a friend that was PC Lesotho in 2004-2006 (I think). Might have been 2003 - 2005. She was doing tourism. Last name Fulkerson. Ring a bell? Boyfriend Jess.
  • I sucked it up and did the Plyo yesterday. I just wore my knee brace and did some of the modified moves so I wasn't hopping and spinning at the same time. My knee was hurting half way through but I stuck with it. My legs are a little sore today, but I really feel it in my back. I guess I wasn't bending properly. Anyone…
  • I live in the mountains and have never been a big city girl. I would definitely go for the nice warm beach! But it would have to be in another country. Those are the only real vacations we take. We got married on the beach in Belize!
  • I've been given the go ahead to do light jumping, but since I did so much at therapy yesterday I think I'm going to substitue Plyo for Cardio today. My knee smarts a bit. I was pretty sore yesterday from Chest & Back and it felt great! Pullup advice - I was talking to the lady who owns the physical therapy place. She is…
  • I hit my mini goal of 150 for the month! Super excited! I also just started P90X, so I think March is going to be a great month. If I don't lose my goal of 5 lbs I'm sure I will still lose inches and that is what matters to me the most. Keep up the good work everyone!! Jan 3: 155.8 Jan 10: 154.8 Jan 17: 155.8 Jan 24: 155.6…

  • Nice job! I could only do 3/4 of a pullup in the Fit Test, so I'm looking forward to seeing results. I think I'm going to start blogging my results (start, phase 1, 2 and 3 to end). How many people are using HRM's for this? I only burned around 275 cals today with Chest & Back, Ab Ripper. I was expecting more...
  • Slow but steady for me. I hit my goal of 150 a few days early. That means I lost about 7 lbs in February. My goal for March is another 5 lbs, but I know that will be more difficult as I get closer to my overall goal. I will be perfectly happy with measurements and muscle instead. I think I have around 15 miles logged so…
  • Ok, I took my "before" pictures yesterday. My profile pic is one of them. I also did measurements and weighed in this morning. Feeling good about it. I'm starting today due to physical therapy tomorrow, but will be back on board with everyone Tues. I think I'm going to do a hybrid of the Lean and Classic to see what my…
  • This weekend.... Sleeping in!!! I've been working 12 straight days and have had late night music stuff on 9 of those nights. I cannot wait to stay in bed past 7am. Other than that this weekend is once again about music. Playing in the orchestra pit tonight and tomorrow night for the musical Company. Sunday is rehearsal for…
  • Scott, when was your last ACL surgery? I had mine done last Nov 1, so it will be 4 months when I start P90X next week. I've been doing a lot of biking, elliptical and light jogging but my therapist only had me start jumping around last week and it kind of hurt the next day. I assume you are doing the Classic. Are you not…
  • A group of us are starting next week. We run the gamet of newbies and repeaters. Check out the thread below. We will be encouraging each other and swapping ideas. Feel free to join in! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/174564-new-round-of-p90x-starts-feb-28th-join-me
  • Thanks for continually providing wisdom Banks! I agree about BMI's. It sets a loose goal, but body types and muscle mass can affect it so much. I have a friend that is 5'6" and weighs 145. Her BMI is more than me at 5'8" and 150, but she is solid muscle and in better shape than me (for now!) After 1 year of MFP I dropped…
  • Emma, I'm starting on Sunday as well since I have physical therapy on Monday (last official time yay!!) I think I'm going to do the Lean version because I've heard Plyo is really knee intensive and I can't do all the jumping yet. Although I'm not looking forward to missing the Chest and Back, so I may just do my own…
  • Seems like I have done just about everything! Except see Glee, Biggest Loser (anything on tv these days since I don't have channels). Ooh, I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life. My husband however is an exception. He's never seen Friends or Seinfeld!
  • I wouldn't mind seeing the running schedule... Thanks. liz
  • I prefer fruits, although I eat a big veggie salad most nights for dinner and enjoy it. Fruit makes such a great snack though. My favorites are strawberries and peaches, but they have to be good quality. I hate buying strawberries and coming home to find out there is already one moldy one in the bottom that I didn't see!
  • Does anyone have an opinion on whether it is better to do fewer regular pushups, or more on your knees?? I was thinking of starting on my knees and working my way to regular, but maybe I should just start with regular and watch the progress?
  • I am still on track to hit my mini goal next week! I actually hit it yesterday, but then I took a second day off from exercise and had a big meal with friends so today was not a good weigh in day. Oh well. Keeping it real! And it is all progress, no matter how small. Good job everyone!! Have another great week! Jan 3:…
  • Week 2 - 151 Normally I weigh in on Mondays, but some friends invited us to a Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Why in Feb I don't know, but it sounded so yummy I couldn't say no. I have been incredibly good all week just for tonight! And tomorrow I have to travel for a music gig. I will take healthy food for lunch and…
  • I also found out that my cholesterol had gone up. And I was not ok with health problems starting in my 30's. That was over 3 years ago and I've now lowered my overall chol to just a few points above normal (well that was almost a year ago so I bet I'm in the normal range by now). And my good HDL is so high that the doctor…
  • Unfortunately I now have a scheduling conflict on Feb 28th and have no time to get my first P90X workout in. Unless I want to take off from work! It probably isn't smart to start on the same day as my last physical therapy appointment anyway. So I'm going to do the first one on the 27th and hop in with everyone else on…
  • Don't get too upset about the scale. So many things could be a factor. And I'm going to bet that you've gained some decent muscle with all this P90X work!! Pretty soon it will start to melt away! Maybe if you weighed in after your rest day to give your muscles time to recover it would be different. At least that is what I…
  • Dairy has a decent amount of sodium and is healthier than just shaking salt all over everything. Try eating lowfat yogurt 30 min before a workout and a big glass of milk afterwards.
  • My husband looked up what was recommended in his Power Training book for a post workout fix and he compared it to the chocolate milk he drinks. It was pretty similar actually. But you could also add some protein powder to it.
