I have gone on 60-90 minute bike rides and burned between 500-700 calories according to my HRM, so 1000 for 2.5 hours seems fine to me. I usually eat a power bar about half way through and drink a lot of water. Whole grain bagels/cereal will give long lasting energy and bananas are great too.

Mmmm...mangos. I had to limit myself to 5 per day when I lived in Africa and I had a tree next to my house! You can just peel them and eat them like a sloppy apple (the fun way), or you can slice them up so you don't get the strings in your teeth and look silly (not as fun). Either way - enjoy!!

I got 3, all in college. First was a little green gecko on my outer right ankle because my nickname is Lizard (for Liz). Second is on my inner left ankle. It is in Japanese and says "Beatles" in purple, for the best band EVER! I wanted to get a yellow submarine but didn't think the yellow would look good on me and then I…

When I started MFP last November I thought that end of summer would be realistic for my overall goal, so count me in! A few weeks ago I only had 10 lbs left and then I started slacking because of it and gained a little back. They say the last 10 is the hardest so I expect it to take me all summer...especially because I…

I admit, I did buy a nice skirt that fits the new me. Otherwise I bought a gym membership with personal trainer for the summer, and the rest I will donate to a non-profit that helps African girls with school fees in Zambia where I used to live.

Just a reminder (and this topic has been discussed back and forth several times with no definitive answer) that in MY mind you need to make sure to subtract your BMR calories from your workout calories. If your BMR is say 1425 like mine, that means I burn about 60 cals per hour doing absolutely nothing. When I workout for…

Thanks for the post Rookie, and the history behind your goal. Today isn't the greatest day for posting as I also gained a few pounds over the last week, but it was a much needed reality check. I hit the "only 10 lbs left!" mark a few weeks ago and have been slacking off since then. I haven't been drinking enough water,…

Alright, it has been posted. I am 35 lbs down with another 10 to go!

Congrats cp005e on hitting the 170's!! Feels good doesn't it?? And way to go on posting a "skin" picture :drinker: I hope to get mine on by tonight. Kistin, sounds like you are very busy working out. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised with your results. I am joining the gym next week and I can't wait to have so many…

Does it count that I have a picture of my hot boyfriends body in my profile instead??!! Just joking... I went to Vegas last weekend and wore a bikini for the first time since college. Guess it shouldn't be so hard to post a pic on here after that, right? I'll do it tonight if I remember. Cheers to everyone who has posted…

I was doing the Scale Challenge, but curiosity got the best of me...! I weighed myself last Tues after 2 weeks without the scale (147) and then on Thurs morning before leaving for Las Vegas (144.8). After several buffets, very little sleep or exercise, and way too much Redbull/vodka I had to find out what I gained over the…

I also haven't weighed in today. Still a little water retention for a few days. I am going to Vegas for the weekend so I may weigh in on Thurs morning just to see what I am before and after 3 days of partying :drinker: I found out that my hotel/casino has a gym that I can pay to use if I muster up the energy. I did,…

Today is day 7. I find that if I can just ignore the scale first thing in the morning I am fine because I never weigh myself after eating. I admit, though, I am VERY tempted to weigh in on Thurs morning before I leave for Vegas. I'm really curious to see how much I lose or gain after a weekend of debauchery!

Off to the side of the BMI page here it states that it is not accurate for pregnant women, people under 5 ft tall and those with muscular builds. Perhaps you would fit into the muscular build category. It is just a generalization, but something in the mid 20's sounds about right for most people.

My boyfriend and I are both interested in subscribing to health/fitness magazines. I have had Self in the past and it was ok, but I would prefer to try something new. I'm thinking about Women's Health. Does anyone have opinions about it? Also, for you men, is Men's Health good, or is there a better one? My bf is already in…

My BF came home from his trip early so my results are less than stellar... I enjoy his overwhelming support, but I tend to do better on my own. I think I have just hit the point where I am tired of constantly logging calories and making myself exercise (although I did go on the first bike ride of the season Sat). I think…

I'm game to join this challenge! I'm not really addicted to the scale - I weigh in every Mon and Thurs and that's about it. However, I have a going away dinner tonight, my water retention "ladies week", going out on Fri for our anniversary and on top of all of that I am going to Las Vegas next weekend. Not the best several…

I love air popped popcorn!! There are butter substitutes (think Molly McButter) or you can get things like Jollytime's 100 calorie popcorn bags with butter flavor. I prefer the kettle corn though. In fact, you have made me want some right now!!

I drink soymilk because regular milk makes me sick. I am lactose intolerant, so dairy in large quantities is bad. I pretty much only add soymilk to my tea, or have a glass once a week to get calcium. I have to get the rest of my calcium from other food and supplements. I had no idea there was such a things as almond milk.…

I started this site, and my lifestyle change, last November. In 4 months I have gone from 182 to 150 (32 lbs!). I still have about 10-15 lbs to hit my goal. Originally I set my goal of 30lbs lost for 6 months and 40-45 lbs for 9 months but I am way ahead of schedule!! The longer you stick with this site the easier it…

This is not a "stoopid" question at all. I am enjoying everyone's answers actually. To me a walk is something you do around your neighborhood, the park, town, the mall. There may be a few slight ups and downs but you are going slow and leisurely. Your heart rate doesn't increase a whole lot and chances are you don't think…

I like to put ground flaxseed in my oatmeal for breakfast and I only put about 1 tbsp. I also bought flaxseed oil supplements and I believe (but my memory could be wrong) that the dosage is 1000mg and it says to take 2-3 per day, or maybe that is 1000mg total per day... Just keep in mind that there are calories in…

That's fantastic! I hope I can say the same next time I have my cholesterol tested.

Some fat can be good for you. Try adding avocado to your salad, put some cheese and veggies in your eggs, have an apple and peanut butter for a snack. Tonight I had a small pita pocket and hummus for a snack and it was delicious!

So I weighed in this morning and the scale read 150 lbs. Very exciting since that means I have officially lost over 30 lbs!! I then received a letter in the mail telling me that my drivers license will expire soon and I can either do it by mail or have a new picture taken at their office. Of course I pulled out my license…

I bought a Polar heart rate monitor this winter which has been super helpful with outdoors activites. I am excited to wear it on some big hikes this summer and see how many cals I am actually burning.

Good morning everyone! I had a very good week and lost almost 3 lbs! :drinker: My boyfriend left me on Thurs for the warmth of Utah, so this weekend was the first time I have been alone since I started MFP. When he is gone I tend to stay up later, which can lead to munchies, but I actually did really well. It probably…
