This happens to me all the time, especially when I'm getting started (or restarting) with a new routine. Use a foam roller to massage out the calves every night. It hurts but it really helps. Stretch well after you work out, drink tons of water, and eat bananas - the potassium helps. Also make sure you fit in rest days...…

Thanks ladies! It's just nice to know there are other people on here who get it! I want kids and a family, just haven't gotten there yet. Which I suppose is part of the motivation for being here. Ok, most of the motivation. But it's easy to forget when I get in self-sabotage mode and want to throw in the towel because I…

I'm in... 35 years old, 5'4", weight 176. I started out so strong back in Jan and lost 20 lbs. Then I've been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds since April. Time to refocus! I'm searching for motivation and support and accountability too!

Workout 3 today... dripping in sweat. I like the change, but it's gonna take me awhile to get my cardio in shape!
-
Congrats! That's fantastic! I actually gained a pound last week so getting a bit frustrated. I think I need to be more careful with food. Gonna measure to see if that helps :noway:

Hey! I wear a heart rate monitor and then enter each workout manually. It's probably different for men, but in the first 2 weeks I've been averaging just over 200 calories burned per 30 minute workout. I think MFP overestimates calories burned, but I may be alone in that thinking. How's it going so far?

I still hate Cardio 1!!! The running man sucks. I could do suicides all day if I didn't have to mix it up with the running man. Getting better with the strength workouts... trying to resist getting on the scale for fear of being disappointed. One more week and I'll measure again. Hope it's going well for all of you!

It hurts so good! KellyH2012 I have to tell you, I'm a bit scared to move past weeks 1&2 if it gets that much harder! I'm already so sore and exhausted, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over how out of shape I've let myself get. Gotta start somewhere, right?! I did notice that I was able to do more of workout 1 today.…

Ugh that cardio 1 workout was exhausting. Or I'm still really out of shape. Or both. I was panting after 20 minutes and I hate the running man and the fast feet! Still sore from the last 2 days, and again I spent the morning cursing Jillian, and now I'm happy that I pushed through it. I can't say I'm excited about doing it…

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the encouragement and advice, and to hear from other folks who just started too... I need the accountability! Day 1 and 2 workouts done. Not too bad, although SO tired when I got up this morning and started workout 2. And I'm already sore. Hopefully my body will get used to being up 40…

Yay! Probably not following the kick start diet - I think it's too few calories to give me enough energy for the workouts. And I'm kind of a carb addict. I think I'm going to stick with MFP for tracking my food... we'll see how it goes! Good luck and keep me posted!

You're an amazing mom. Your daughter is amazing to have overcome what must have been an incredibly difficult time to get into the school she wants. And if you have to defer for a year while you save some money, she'll understand. Try meeting with the financial aid office at the school and see if they can help you set up a…

My go-to when I have to drive thru is El Pollo Loco. All their nutrition info is online so you can plan some options ahead of time. I like their chicken caesar salad with either the light dressing or no dressing and pile on salsa instead. Also their tortilla soup is good (broth-based, not cream), and so is their skinless…

I agree with the folks on here, I don't think it's a huge problem to be eating late... it's more a matter of sticking to your calorie goal and trying to put healthy food in your system to fuel your body overnight. I used to eat popcorn and chocolate every night, and I still lost weight. But I decided it was a habit I…

Totally in the same boat! Great post and great advice!

This is inspiring, thanks for posting!

Totally had the same problem... it got a bit better by the third time I did workout 2 (today). I'm just trying to build up to it. A little frightened to see how much harder the workouts get, I'm so out of shape!
-
I totally have the same problem! I'm such an all-or-nothing person, and I go full steam ahead for a while, being super motivated, and then I slip up once or twice - on any part of my food/exercise plan - and I go totally the other direction. I lose motivation and jump back into the cycle of eating to make myself feel…

Thanks for posting! You're doing great, and I appreciate the inspiration. I started week 2 today and haven't seen much change in the scale. Reading your post is helping me stay motivated!

I live in a apartment and have found that the lower impact strength training workouts don't make too much noise. I'm only on week 2, so I'm sure it'll change as the workouts get harder, but for now it's not really a problem. I'm planning to buy a rug for my floor before the plyo stuff starts! :)

So sore! After only 3 days my whole body hurts... but that's good, right?! I like JM's workouts. But I've given up following the meal plan - it just feels too restrictive, but I have stuck to 1200 calories per day on MFP. And I've gained 1.5lbs in 3 days. I know I'm not supposed to check the scale every day, and water…

It sounds like you're doing amazingly well, and you just have to cut yourself some slack. I recently had the same problem and essentially wrote off the last month. But today is a new day and we get to start fresh! And BTW, according to Jillian Michaels, the 30DS does NOT have to be done in 30 consecutive days. She always…

I just started this morning! I was cursing her for 32 minutes, but now I feel good and I want to see what the next workout looks like. I'm trying the kickstart plan because I need a serious kick in the *kitten*, but I'll probably not stick to her foods completely because it's just not appealing. That's what MFP tracking is…

Congrats on getting through school, that's a major accomplishment!! Don't give up - we've all been there. Shopping in places I don't want to be seen or being asked when I'm due when I'm not pregnant... There comes a point when you realize that you want to make a change for you. And every day is a chance to get closer to…

Totally in the same boat - 16 lbs in almost 4 months. It is frustrating to not see the results right away - I'm addicted to instant gratification. But like others have said, I have to stop thinking about only the weight. I'm down a pant size, I can go up stairs and not get as out of breath, my knees don't hurt quite as…

So Cal gal and 35. I just joined and am looking for motivating friends too! I sent you ad add request... others can add me too!

Incredibly inspiring, and it's so good to hear that slow and steady can work. Depression is always the enemy, but we'll get there! You look BEAUTIFUL!
-
^^^ this! ^^^ The strength part got easier for me as I progressed, but the cardio is painful! Guess I need to build up more stamina... Anyone do other DVDs of Jillian's that you like?

I obsess every morning too, but I'm trying to cut back on my addiction! Going to every other day and trying to taper off to get to only 2 or 3 x per week - maybe eventually once a week but I'm not sure I can give it up completely! I only log on Monday mornings, to compare one week to the next, but it helps remind me that…
