Wearing running shoes has helped me lose weight.

I'm not a fan of Pizza night. Not because I think pizza is bad (in fact I love pizza and will have a couple of slices as part of a meal, and not in addition to a meal), but because people come out of the woodwork for the pizza, people you don't see there the rest of the month, and it's too crowded. I enjoy have a dry, lit…

I joined January 2nd 2012. I was told there was to be punch and pie. There was no punch and pie  A buddy who knew I had made the resolution told me about MFP and I haven't left.

I see all this talk about how people will fail at their resolutions, yes they fail, not because they plan to fail but because they fail to plan.. This was my plan for 2013

Gives you like 3 weeks to eat all the things you plan on denying yourself come January 1st (you know because you wont eat less just wont eat)

I count everything. When I'm not actively counting, I won't care about what vegetables I'm eating (just try to get the whole color spectrum) but right now I count everything because I want to actually be under my targets since I have them..

I am strongly looking forward to being strongly entrenched with my maintenence and not worrying about how many calories I'm burning while I am running. I haven't done the math and trending but my calorie burn from running (per distance/time) seems to have gotten lower quicker than my weightloss and I believe it is because…

Just start a thread about a weightloss product and see a bunch of new accounts start posting to it extolling it's virtues...

I worry about the quality of my calories all the time... "Will this donut taste as good as a beer" "Will the caramel apple crisp this restaurant taste as good as the other half of my meal" "What tastes better, 3 slices of microwaved bacon or two slices of pan fried pork bacon" and.. Donuts taste better than standard mass…

Well, I had decided to lose weight for my 2011 New Years Resolution. I joined on January 2nd 2011. I'm still here. Best part of it is I remember being at the gym that February on the ellipticals. My playlist ended so I could here everything. Somebody comes over and talks to the guy next to me and talks about how the gym is…

My Gym closes at Noon. I am more than happy that I have a race at 9:00am and I'm taking advantage of the day off to run outside, in the daylight, something I won't get the opportunity to do outside of weekends until about April. Stoopid long commute...

500 calories, I have meals bigger than that. Or at least just under....

I love being active, especially running. I've done some obstacle races and they've all been a blast. Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder, the 5K foam fest, spartan sprint... Plus I've ran as Santa, a Bandito, in Laderhosen, and just for the sheer love of the run. 2 years ago I couldn't get out of bed without losing my breath now I…

The last thing I regret eating was the buttermilk pancakes I made with buttermilk that had gone south. Made my wife and I sick sick suck sick. Thankfully my daughter didn't want any pancakes that day. We should have taken a clue from her. Sitting on the toilet with a bucket and crying and vomiting will definitely leave you…

I use a HRM to log the calorie burn. I have map my run for the actual distance, but that's mostly to shameless *kitten* for attaboys on Facebook and to log my distance against my shoes to have an idea of when I need to start thinking about getting a new pair.

I eat carbs at dinner, sometimes it's pasta, sometimes its a potato (white or sweet) some times it's rice, some times it's fruit and to top it off I often have some kind of dessert that features carbs before going to bed. It might be milk and a kashi cookie, it might be my homemade ice cream, sometimes its a little dark…

http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51312/Half-Marathon-Novice-2-Training-Program I picked his Novice 2 over the Novice 1 because the novice 1 had a 10 mile run as it's longest and the novice 2 had a 12 mile run as it's longest. My hardest part, at first, was to slow down to a 1/2 marathon pace since I am a 5K junky. Once I…

I exercise to add exercise calories to my day and have the option to eat more food while still maintaining a deficit. I started running because it can burn a LOT of calories per minute and more than any other activity I could do (or at least enjoy) I never wanted to become a runner, hell I made fun of friends who were…

I had made a New Years Resolution to lose weight but we all know how those ultimately turn out. On New Years day we had patriots tickets at the top, top, top, top of Gillette stadium. We have to walk up to our seats, up ramps, not stairs. Getting up the ramps made me feel like I was going to die. We missed kickoff because…

McDonalds has the better breakfasts, Burger King has the better Lunches if we are talking about the two big dogs in the fight. I don't eat salads at McDonalds just like I don't go to the Lobster Shack for a Steak. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the salads but that's not why I would go there. I'll have an egg mcmuffin…

Where the hell were all you people when I started running. I did all of this by trial and error and found out much much later that there was a sane and easy way to get up to scratch. I didn't even have to start reading to know everybody was going to recommend C25K. Seriously, OP, that's sage advice right there....

Training for my first half marathon, I came to respect my rest days. Before then I ran every other day and hit the weights every other day so I was taking "rest days" from each of the two activities without actually taking a rest. I found that my long run on Saturday was easier after taking a rest day on friday. That rest…

Dont! Seriously don't. If you feel a need to compete just count how many baby joggers you pass and how many pass you. Pass more than pass you. I hate those guys...

Gonna run a mile or so before my 5K and then not worry about it. I'll log everything and if I go over it's not going to kill me long term and I'll probably make it up on the day to follow or certainly the day after that as it's my long run day.

For your first real 5K all you should be worried about is finishing. If you ever care about times, you want to try to top your best speed from before. Beating my Personal Record is all I care about. I just ran my first 1/2 marathon about a month ago, and while I was happy with my time all I really cared about was finishing…

Thanks! I will be doing that race every year (It's always on July 3rd) until I die or can't manage to run for whatever reason...

Find an activity, that you were having problems with before. Maybe a flight of stairs that kicked your *kitten* all the time. Try it now, revel in the EASE of taking that flight of stairs or find a chair with arms you were unwilling/unable to squeeze in before and know how much you've changed. That will help you even more…
