It might be worth cooking four servings of whatever and taking leftovers for lunch.

Allows me to shake off the pain if I overdo my exercises, thus allowing me to get back at it. That's the only pill I've taken to help me lose weight... well... sometime this..

Duck and Cover! People will come out of the woodwork or at least the foreground to Lambaste you for taking "the easy way out" my strong suggestion is to find a group on this site for people who have a gastric sleeve and not mention anywhere else that you have one as everyone else will be less than helpful if not out right…

I tell them it's not a diet but a plan. The CRIM plan... Calorie Reduction Increased Movement If anybody asks me if I took any pills, I tell them that I take Advil if I happen to overdo an exercise session and windup sore. It helps me get back at it quicker...

After a race I ran on Cinco De Mayo and you got a beer and a margarita for running. The margarita was clearly 99% sour mix that may have seen some tequila in a book once. That was NOT worth the calories. I had to go find a good margarita after that...

Specifically I was differentiating between changing your dietary habits and going on a diet. If you go on a diet to get healthy then as soon as you stop eating paleo, or cutting out carbs, or whatever else you eliminate to get healthy, you'll go back to where you were if it was a sacrifice you stop making instead of a…

If you have to say "I can't" rather than "I don't" when thinking about any kind of food, you haven't made sustainable changes and any results will vanish when you are no longer able to say "I can't" If you want pizza, have some, just don't have the whole pizza and fit it into your day by either tweaking the rest of your…

I'm going to thresh my own wheat to make bread for stuffing, churn my own butter, and spend an hour or two milking cows for the milk to make the aforementined butter... Wait, I'm not doing that so I guess I'll run that 5K in the morning I was planning on going to...

I've gone from XXXL shirts and a 46" inch waist to M shirts and a 32/34 (depending on brand/cut/etc) pants. Everytime I went down 2 sizes, I put the biggest size stuff I had left in "The Pile" Last year I donated like 4 contractor bags of shirts, pants, jackets etc. I kept one of my absolutely largest pants and shirt just…

I'm in. 3.1 miles Saturday night (with Zombies chasing me through the woods and a head lamp on my head) 2.5 miles yesterday. The run Saturday night was "Panic in the Dark" an obstacle course run, in the dark, through the woods with obstacles and zombies chasing you. It was all fun and games until there was ZOMBIE CLOWNS!!!…

I'm thinking of doing the Dopey Challenge at Disney World in January 2015. In four straight days you run a 5K, a 10K, a half marathon and then a full Marathon (in that order). I have no doubt I could do the first 3 and I am planning on running my first full this coming July so I am going to assume that I could run the Full…

If you are just starting out... Couch to 5K. If you have a smart phone get a C25K app or just google for a plan. It will get your body used to running better than anything else you'll find at your level. I'm not just talking about your endurance and cardio, it will get your legs, bones, feet, everything trained up and…

Fat doesn't cause tooth decay. However, we have toothbrushes and toothpaste and floss, so sugar is fine.

Sugar Alcohols may cause.... Gastric Distress. Most Sugarless gums are 5 calories a stick/piece which could add up if you are constantly chewing gum or grabbing 4-5 pieces at a time to blow bubbles. Also, I know from personal experience that chewing gum while you are running plays havoc on your pace and cadence, but maybe…

I run 3-4 days a week, about 30 minutes except for the weekend day where I can be running between an hour and 2 hours, although that is dropping off a little now that I've finished my half marathon and I won't be training for anything until early spring. So it will be 30 minutes running 2-3 days a week and about an hour on…

I share mine, to friends. You'll find beer. ice cream from time to time, and other things some people may question if they think you are "on a diet" you'll also see exercise so I can have a beer or pizza or maybe beer and pizza. I don't feel a need to hide anything and I just ignore it if anyone comments on my choices…

I have 2 races in November, 3 in December (2 in one day eek), 2 in January, 2 or 3 in February and 3 or 4 in March. I live in New Hampshire. Races are my only opportunity to run outside and trust the lack of ice under my feet during the winter. But I can't wait until spring... Oh, and if you were training and took a little…

I fought my way into running entirely by trail and error. I've had a lot of people come to me for starting advice. I tell them all C25K. It doesn't just build your cardio but it gets your whole body trained up for running. Don't be afraid to do a week over if you don't feel you are ready to move up. Others have mentioned…

Last year I started losing weight and signed up for a warrior dash in that september as a measure of my fitness. That July I ran my first race, a 10k that ended by coming out of the giant inflatable patriots helmet and running across the 50 yard line in Gilette Stadium. I was totally hooked on running at that point even if…

Ran my first 1/2 marathon on the 13th as the final installment of the Boston Athletic Association's Distance Medley. 2:10:13 not bad and right on top of my goal of 2:11:00 I've signed up for my first full marathon next July, the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon marathon. I'm planning on Boston's Run to Remember half marathon next…

If you choose to eat Paleo, do so because you believe in the tenants of Paleo and not because you want to lose weight. If you are "going Paleo" to lose weight or for a challenge, you will not stick with it and as soon as you stop depriving yourself of whatever you need to eliminate to "go" Paleo, you will undo most if not…

Thanks, my wife got me the sock monkey hat for christmas. The camera is a go-pro. I have it take a picture every second and then I stop motion them all into a quicky video. Some of my favorite ones are below. Sometimes I wear the camera on my head instead of my chest... http://www.youtube.com/watch?fv=lJJ9QR0Tl40…

The Marathon is at the end of July. There's a half marathon the day before and people can "Rock the Canyon" by doing both. It's our vacation, just the marathon is enough for me.

^ That was me in May^ I ran a 5K this past september, the 1/2 way to St. Pats 5K 26:12 My 1/2 marathon training is DONE (ran it last weekend \m/ ) and it's no races longer than a 5K until March. I'm hoping to maybe break 25 minutes for my New Years Day 5K. The one on Thanksgiving is too crowded to really cut loose.

I hopefully knew about the occasion before hand and laid out my day to work around it, maybe that's extra time exercising, maybe that's dialing down the rest of the day, sometimes it's both. IF I didn't know and I can't work my day around it, I don't let it throw me. It's just tossing a pebble into the river of my healthy…

Ran my first half this past weekend. It was the BAA half marathon and last part of the BAA distance medley (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) 2:10:13 and I beat all my running Buddies except one and she's a serious serious runner and 10 years younger than me :P The 5K of the distance medley happened the day before the Boston…

My first 5K was 32:48. My first race was a month prior and it was a 10K that I wasn't at all prepared for. I ran that at 1:19:29 Don't worry about your time for your first race. Finishing is a victory in and of itself. Plenty of time in later races to finish faster... You'll do fine, have fun.
