learning to cut back on things like condiments and sauces. maybe it's not for everyone, but i can eat plain old skinless chicken breasts with buffalo sauce (0 calories!) 4 or 5 days a week. realizing i didn't need all the oils and sugar-filled sauces and instead finding substitutes really made meal prep easier and it cut…

putting my hands on my hips and having my fingers lie flat pointing towards each other instead of pointing forward or curving

One bad weekend doesn't completely cancel out 2 weeks of progress! It can be hard when you want something so bad that even one off day feels like the end of it all, but try to focus on the positives and be proud of yourself for the good stuff. What helps me the most is keeping busy as much as possible so I don't really…

Love the hair, very cute! ^^

When guys wolf-whistle at you, and knowing they're sarcastic. When a guy asks you out/says his friend wants to go out, and then he turns to his friends and they all start laughing. In my physics class a few years back, I stood up to go to the bathroom and had to squeeze between two rows of desks to get out. My huge butt…

I lost 10 lbs in about 4 weeks, but I was really heavy. Plus, I took my SW right after Christmas, so it's possible that the salty foods made me retain a lot of water and stuff like that.

I find being in a gym keeps me motivated. It might sound silly and/or vain, but if I know people are watching me (I know they're not, but in my head they are xD) then I don't want to look like I'm slacking off or leaving early. I know, I know -- that's stupid, but hey, it keeps me going! Plus, it's really convenient that…

DOCTOR WHO!!!

I'm definitely trying to keep realistic goals. I'm not expecting to lose 10 inches in two days or anything, I just want to take advantage of my gym membership while I have it, and make the most of it.
-
Okay, will try and do both! I was just wondering which one to focus on more when exercising for someone who's particularly heavy. x) Thanks all for the help!

5'5, 210 and a size 13. (Guess I'm a bit more top-heavy!) :)

Parents who don't supervise their kids at the gym. I went to swim laps today for my morning workout, and all the lanes were full. This wouldn't have been an issue, except three lanes were filled with kids (10 and under), and none of them were actually swimming -- they were just sitting on the edge of the pool and talking.…

I've always been bigger, and it's taken a number on my confidence. I feel too scared to do anything because of my weight, and I don't want to use it as an excuse anymore. Plus, I don't want to waste my 20's hiding my body, trying to avoid the world because I don't want to be judged by my weight. Basically, I want…

I do think that everything in moderation is a really good way to start. If you get someone who's just starting to change their eating habits, if you cut off everything they love for good then they won't last very long. I think for people who just want a better diet, everything in moderation is a good way to start, and you…

I always see myself as being smaller in the mirror, but think of myself as being much, much larger. If I'm in a room full of people I don't know, I feel like I might as well be 100 pounds heavier than I am, but when I'm by myself and just happen to check myself out in the mirror, I don't seem quite as big as I really am.

Lately, all the great weather has been motivating me, reminding me that there's going to be lots of good bathing suit weather and I want to get in on it! Also, I set little rewards for myself -- for instance, when I lose 5 pounds I get a spa pedicure done, or I get that perfume I've been dying to get. It makes me more…

^^ This. I know it's not good to compare yourself to others, but I feel like I just need an idea of how large I am. Lately, I've been asking everyone around me if I'm the same size as any larger girl I saw. I also use my body gallery quite a bit now to get a better idea of what people my size look like.
-
I'm the exact same way. I look in the mirror and see all the little bumps and bulges, but it's not until I have one of my thinner friends next to me in the mirror that I realize exactly how much larger I am in comparison. >.< It's always unpleasant seeing photos with me with other people and getting that wake-up call.

cindy you're totally working that bathing suit. Am very very jealous! :D

I think newbies who have less than 3 months on their account can still know about starvation mode, eating back exercise calories, and knowing the definitions to weight loss terms. :/ What makes them a know it all just because they know these basic things? MFP is designed to be laid out so that people can learn these things…

If I'm craving something really, REALLY badly, I'll try and find 100 calorie packs of that food or something similar. I also always keep a huge stash of gum around the house in various flavours so I can mix it up, this is big if I'm craving foods but I'm not actually hungry. If I am hungry, I'll try and eat something…

bump...so trying these soon!! :)

Usually what I have is either pre-portioned leftovers from the night before, or I'll occasionally mix it up. What I've been doing lately is just having a thin bagel. A normal bagel is about 4 servings of bread, but the thin bagels are only 2 servings. I'll put 1 tbsp of light cream cheese on it, and because I get cravings…

All I can say is WOW! You look absolutely amazing, and oh so happy! :3 Good luck moving into toning! :D

Good to know it works! I just picked it up and, after seeing her on TV, I'm almost scared to do it. >.< Just a question, how would you enter that workout into your exercise log on MFP?
-
Welcome! ^^ It can be a real eye-opener once you realize all the little things you start to eat and exactly how fast it can add up. And hopefully before too long, you'll have to change your username to skinnychavez.

*-* So many different things! It's good to know there's so many gym-free options for working out, though.

I have a feeling I'm going to need to make a list. x) Great suggestions!! :D

I have to work myself up to running. x) We aren't exactly good friends. Plus, it's very icy in my neighbourhood right now, and I can't quite afford a treadmill ATM. (Excuses, excuses. >.> )
