  • you can always estimate your calories. When something out of the ordinary happens, I put something into the comments section for the day. When they fix it you can always revise. :)
  • Two things that might make you happy (I'm using the generic 'you' here): 1. An Alternative to Expensive Clothes Go to the Sally Ann or Value Village or a consignment shop for your clothes while you're losing (or gaining, I suppose), and then you CAN afford to take your new body to Bermuda! The only caution is if you're…
  • I'm back after losing a bunch and gaining a lot of it back. I've lost 14 lbs to date since my return in January this year, and even 14 pounds makes a difference to the fit of my pants, to the point where I've bought a couple of pairs in the next size down which I can do up but wouldn't wear yet because of muffin top. The…
  • I'm back after a long hiatus (my mom had brain surgery and nearly died.. it threw me right off the wagon) and here I am. Last time I lost 96 pounds (the pic there is my low weight pic) and I haven't gained it all back but I did gain back over half. At least I'm not starting all over again  Four things: * Being cold…
  • Four more things: 1. At lower weights, clothes are far more fitted and that seems to be the norm. For so many years of being fat and looking for clothes that are roomy to disguise the ups and downs and because the sizes seem to be forgiving in the plus category, I got used to roomy clothes. Getting used to fitted clothes…
  • (Left turn!!) I would have preferred to see a topic called "What is a turn on for you (Male & Female)" oooo I think I'll do that now.
  • I met my hubby on the internet. We just had our 12th wedding anniversary and all's well :) There are three components: 1. You must have a common interest (in our case, it was computer games and we met on a message board for one of them, so I was able to see how he interacted with other posters over about two years before…
  • One question... does anyone have something more than anecdotal reports on how hormonal fluctuations affect that? Perimenopausal women have a hell of a time losing weight and can even gain weight on less food than you'd ever expect to make a difference. I can say that anecdotally, but also, I've been doing some reading on…
  • I'm more afraid of putting the weight back on, which is an emotional issue that makes me want to eat. If I put it back on, I'm weak and a failure (not true, but definitely in the minds of people who have no idea what it's like to weigh too much). Fat people are (with some exceptions of course) practically invisible, and…
  • There's an old Dean Martin song... "How do you like your eggs in the morning? I like mine with a kiss. Boiled or fried, I'm satisfied, so long as I get my kiss." Oatmeal sounds like a good egg substitute *nod* Mirii
  • The one thing I've learned from my own journey is that it's full of left turns and unexpected stalls, and unexpected victories too... and I don't think I'm the only one. We're here on this website for support and education too, but we're not pros or we'd be charging people for sharing what we know. Why would you…
  • Wow.. Delta AND Victoria. New Westminster, here.
  • "Success is achieved by consistency of purpose." Thank you, Far East Fortune Cookie Company. Also, I read a book on running this week from the founder of the Running Room and here's a quote from him: "Nobody ever got hurt by running too slowly." I love this. It's not telling you to run. It means that you should do what…
  • Re Capt Kirk, Wm Shatner has a new Broadway show called "This is Shatner's World and You're Just Living in It". He's in everything *nod* 'Nuff said. Mirii
  • Feh it's boring right now... Pandaren's been announced but when's it coming? Most people are drifting away from it right now (me included). Somebody handed me the reins to a lvl 25 guild with 900 members. I don't even want to sign on. Trust me, you're not missing much. Buy a standalone (Skyrim's awesome) for a little more…
  • Jar Jar, so I could commit suicide and rid the universe of the most annoying thing in it ;)
  • The Royal City - New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada!
  • Not all balsamic vinegars are the same. If you can afford it, try Williams & Sonoma Olivieri 25 year oak barrel aged balsamic. There is nothing like it anywhere. One tbsp will do a big salad for 10 cal. And it's tart but not sour. I would have never guessed anything could be so good. No lie, it's super pricey... $40 for a…
  • I've been doing the same thing with celery but I like your way too.
  • I am a banana! Smaller top and bottom and a little thicker in the middle. I don't like my middle either. I was thinking ab crunches of all kinds.
  • I get owly if I haven't eaten recently. That's because my blood sugar gets too low. Before I lost the weight, I didn't have this problem. Mind you, before I lost the weight I was also flirting with Type 2 diabetes. No regrets on the personality adjustment btw.
  • I had a real problem getting enough water until I did these things to it: 1. Boil it 2. Add Splenda to taste 3. Flavour it with lemon juice. HOT DAMN! It's hot lemonade, it tastes awesome and it's STILL water! 10 cups a day plus coffee if you want it... very very easy.
  • You do need a better doctor though. There is no excuse for him peeing all over your good work and motivation. If he looks smug when he says it, he likely needs a swift kick up the backside on your way out the door too. Doctors often have no idea what you're going through. The term "lifestyle choice" is a facile cliche.…
  • The only diet that works is calories in < calories out. Your genetics determines where the fat comes off first, not whether you count this nutrient or that. I'm too lazy to look, but I thought Banks covered that. Oh yeah... thanks Grandma for my lovely apple-shaped physique, and that plastic surgeon I will eventually…
  • Walking works really well. I lost 96 lbs walking to and from work, so 25 min each way (fast), five days per week. This works especially well in places where there is no snow in the winter. I'm now adding in an extra 5 min each way and I have to figure out a new route that's a bit longer (and hillier). Mirii
  • Hmmm... what would I do with a sagging belly? (yes I have one and it's the bane of my existence) This is theoretical, mind you.... hit a mugger with it. Mirii
  • I just went to the website and all is now clear. The key ingredients are cellulose gel and cellulose fibre. We can't digest that so it passes right through. It's the equivalent of eating paper. I knew that this was something under development, but not that it had got to this stage. Mind you, I don't mind eating paper if it…
  • Lemon juice + water + splenda = lemonade. Too liquid? Freeze it and you get popsicles. If you're talking REAL food, celery is great but it still has some calories. Bolthouse Farms makes some very good salad dressings (fat/oil free) such as Oriental Ginger Balsamic Vinaigrette at 15cal per tbsp. My favourite is a Raspberry…
  • Same as MsD, above, plus a mother who also loved by feeding me and bribed me with food, for example, don't tell your father about my secret bank accout = have an opera roll! Btw if you don't know what an opera roll is, it's probably a good thing. Six inches of fresh-made nougat coated in caramel and rolled in cashews, from…
  • If it's a question of getting used to eating them, take a positive approach. Just think how much better that green leafy thing tastes than sea urchin. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go to a sushi restaurant and order UNI. I think it's quite possibly the vilest thing I've ever tasted, principally because of the…
