That's a brilliant milestone! I hope you have something special planned to celebrate!

At least mine's not judgmental, but man, he could stand to lose 80 pounds. Feh, looks like I'm judgmental.. maybe I am. And here I am, looking at the Hallowe'en candy that he just gobbles, and I swear he doesn't even taste it! I just can't spare the calories anymore, so if it's chocolate, it'll be the best chocolate money…

NAME OF RECIPE: Mirii's Really Simple Spinach and Chicken Salad INGREDIENTS: 2c. spinach, 15g light feta cheese, 50g raspberries, 15g walnuts, 15ml Litehouse Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette (30ml if you like), and 150g of chicken breast, fully cooked, but weigh it before cooking. I was wondering about that actually. A lot of people I know didn't see me over the summer and were totally shocked about how much I had lost, but not in a bad way. Now, a month after seeing them again, some look at me like they think I'm anorexic, which is hilarious given what I weigh. I'm not going to stop now just…

Since I started drinking (water) more, less bloating and less being a cowbag. Different every month now, including when it starts, when it ends and whether I have other symptoms, like sore nipples. My doc says that has to do with losing fat because fat stores estrogen and when the fat's broken down, you definitely have…

Lentil soup is a good one, lots of protein and fibre, no fat, and thick enough to keep you full. Throw in some smoked turkey if you like that whole split pea soup taste.

Once you're off proper sugar, it's amazing how sweet natural vegetables can be. I've set up my food diary for six "meals" per day - breakfast - morning snack - lunch - afternoon snack - dinner - evening snack. Breakfast is a latte in a beer mug (skim milk) and a bowl of nature's path oatmeal (really good stuff) Morning and…

*looks at that thing that says "Mirabilis logged in for 110 days in a row!"* Add me if you'd like! I don't respond to everything because life's hectic here too, but I think positive reinforcement is definitely a great help!

Well, how about this? I've lost 58 pounds and my fasting blood sugar went from 7 to 5.3, which I understand is "normal". Despite that, my doctor will not tell me that I don't have it even when I ask him directly. What I get from this is that it's a chronic disease that worsens over time and that diet (especially) and…

What I noticed is that my periods went from 4 weeks apart to 3 weeks - 3 weeks - 6 weeks when they were nothing but regular before. When I asked my doctor, he told me that metabolizing fat releases estrogen, which messes up your reproductive cycle, and that it's nothing to worry about. Obviously, check with your own…

My digiscale can give me easily 4 different weights just by getting on and off it. If the number's preposterous, try again, but don't make it into a step class

You know, that butt thing... the only thing I miss is that ability to sit still for hours. Now I'm bonier and it hurts sometimes!

Congrats! That's a huge milestone, and it only gets better from here!

Welcome! You know what they say... Too much backslide leads to too much... Backside!

Could you -really- see yourself eating 500 cal per day for the rest of your life? This process is all about changing bad habits for good ones. Be sensible and take it slow. The weight comes off. "Starvation mode" is a misnomer. It would be far better if we could call it "conservation mode", like the power saving mode on…

Where do you live? Assuming northern hemisphere, we -do- have a seasonal appetite of sorts, and our bodies are looking to get ready for winter. What do we and housecats and bears have in common? It's getting colder and we're slowing down activity-wise. And we want comfort food because it's getting dark earlier at night and…

An ounce of cheddar cheese before bed, and if you get a good cheddar, it's worth every gram

I did Weight Loss Clinic in the 1980s, and it cost about $15 per pound. I was as expensive as steak! It was really good, with food and exercise journals, nutrition and psychological counselling. I hit a maintenance weight and then.... because it was a pay service, I obviously couldn't stay on it, and they turned me loose…

Small portions, and blame it on all those other turkey dinners having filled you up? Seriously load up on salad and veggies, or bring a veggie plate if you know your hosts won't have one? I've been doing this too... "Oh I had lunch out with my husband at 3pm, not hungry now". Skip the whipped cream, or maybe even bring…

WTG Emmie! When I first joined this website, losing over 100 lbs seemed absolutely impossible to me, but yet... LOOK WHAT YOU DID! You give me courage to keep going. Thank you so much!

Transformation websites.. what an interesting turn of phrase. It makes me feel like I'm coming out of a cocoon.

As a bottom line, whatever you eat, if you're 500 cal below your BMR you will lose weight. Period. Everybody gets plateaux. And if they keep at it, they fall off the plateaux, sometimes with significant losses in a very short time. I spent the last month gaining and losing the same three pounds, and just this week I've…

MFP sets your calorie limit to (BMR minus 500), with a hard lower limit of 1200. That should get you 1 pound loss per week if your BMR is 1700 or more. When your BMR is lower, your weight loss becomes slower unless you add in exercise because of that lower limit. Exercise is good and helps tone you and build muscle but not…

A kitchen scale is your best friend. Every day, I put together my morning and afternoon snacks and lunch into baggies with a piece of paper with the weights on them in the baggies so I can record them properly (or you could record them before you go). The only high sodium foods I eat are processed ones, and I"m not even…

Weigh it, record it, control it. If you're over on calories or carbs a little, it's not the end of the world, so long as you don't jump into a pit of despair. It's not likely to be a lot if you're recording it, right? And you can always create some exercise calories (i.e. work out) to absorb the impact, too.

lol when I figure out the camera, I'll post, and hopefully not mess up the posting either. I have the before pic, since I didn't take it. I'll work on the after pic.

When men lose their perception filter.. you know, the one where they look right through you and don't notice? I was at court this week and had to line up with the clerk to check in, and a lawyer I hadn't seen for about 4 months did a complete double take when I said hello and kept staring at me. That was funny. The other…

What's your weight? What's your calorie intake?
