I do a big basic ragu sauce - onions, mince and tomatoes. We usually have spag bol (or some other pasta). Then on subsequent days it can become enchilladas, with the addition of spices and peppers and/or celery and/or kidney beans (I use the Discovery sauce which has the spices in the lid). Also it can become cottage pie…

Hi - I am trying to get down to 55kg and I'm 5'2ish. I have about 5kg to lose and I'm about a size 10 at the moment although my top is bigger :-(. Feel free to add me :-) Jane

I bought a Concept 2 rowing machine and have saved a fortune on gym fees over the last 8 years. Jane

But you want to lose weight...? Have you thought about buying just enough food for a couple of days? That way you don't need to worry about throwing stuff out. Seriously, I challenge you to learn to cook one meal a week. You can always find something on Youtube so you can see what your cooking should look like. Jane

Tagine was my thought too. Easy to prepare in advance. You can do a couple of different flavours for the couscous too - I like mint and lemon, for example. Another idea is Swahili prawns. Again, prepare the sauce in advance and then add the prawns for the last few mins of cooking.…

And they make an amazing soup, blitzed with some chick peas, a sautéd onion and some basil. Jane

I love swede. You can mash it with carrots too. Unfortunately my husband thinks he hates it. I actually loathe turnips. I have a diet treat of weetabix (sainsbury's or tesco value version) with a thin layer of nutella and ice cold skimmed milk - this is a post-workout treat. It is amazing! I think tinned tomatoes are my…

40g fruit and fibre cereal, 4 dessertspoons of homemade yogurt plus a little milk, 1 tsp homemade blackberry jelly, raspberries and strawberries from the garden. Fresh coffee. It was delicious! Jane

Get out of bed and get busy. Switch off the TV. Get a hobby. When my kids were tiny and I was working full time I spent Sunday evening chopping lots of veg into sticks, or florets, to store in the fridge (I would then wash out and re-use the bags) so all I had to do on weekday evenings was pop the veg into the steamer to…

I think you should learn to cook! That way you have far more control over what you eat. Jane

I had great success when I wasn't counting calories. I just ate really sensibly, cut out sweet things (except fruit) and any other junk. I limited my alcohol intake but still had a drink every day. I exercised vigorously 30-40 mins a day. At the weekends I cut myself some slack and allowed myself pizza, chips etc. but I…

We are having an Olympic dinner tonight - Greek salad for a starter, followed by pie, mash and liquor (all home-made so not quite as bad as it sounds and it is a very special occasion!). Will also be glued to the TV during the opening ceremony. Jane

Eat (naturally) colourful food, drink water, go for brisk walks. And do some yoga type exercises to help massage your bowel! http://www.livestrong.com/article/361392-yoga-positions-and-bowel-movements/ Jane

It's Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred exercise DVD. You can see it on youtube to try before you buy. It's 3 x 20min workouts. You do workout 1 for the first 10 days, then workout 2 for the next 10 days etc. It combines strength and cardio and is quite intensive but mercifully short at only 20 mins a day! I followed up today's…

Also excited about the Olympics. The athletes are a real inspiration and are helping me to get a daily workout done during my school hols! Jane

Almost certainly dehydration. Drink plenty of water well before your workout. If you're thirsty you left hydration too late! I used to get migraines (with aura) after exercise before I worked out the link! Jane

I started yesterday and I am moderately sore today. I was shaky yesterday, especially walking down stairs! I was also tired from travelling a lot over the previous 2 days (driving 500 miles from Scotland to England one day, and travelling from England to France by ferry the next day). I think it will help us to get through…

Me too! 6 days on duty 24/7 started today at 7am. Still, at least everyone is cheerful because it's the w/e, even if we're still working! Jane

totally agree with this as I also used to be a ballet dancer! It is a little bit slow to start with tho, so if you want a good workout on the water you might be frustrated at first. However, I used find that a 2 hour recreational water session would burn loads of calories, more than doing a 10k on the rowing machine,…

Very old school.... 'Back of my hand' by the Jags (i've got your number). Garage band has a nifty little ringtone facility for iPhones. Jane

Ryvita is great. I also have scrambled egg with mine for a quick lunch. Also tuna, sweetcorn and kidney beans make a filling lunch and very low cal - I dress this with dijon mustard, lemon juice, chilli, pepper and maybe some spring onions. Really easy soup - onions, gently fry in a little oil, tinned tomatoes x2, tin of…

I don't agree with this. It's fine to row every day, or six days a week if you like to include a rest day. Of course you will find it easier to hit the splits as you get stronger, so you just need to adjust your goals and keep working as hard. If you enjoy it, do it as often as you feel like it. It's a great workout and…

i'm 159cm (about 5'2) and I'm aiming to lose about 6-7kg (15lb...?) to get to about 55kg, which is about 121lb i think. Always happy to have new friends either side of the pond :-) Jane
