You may have the wrong shoes for your feet (go to a runners store and get them checked). I agree with the arch supports, it also may be that your feet are unused to being used in such a way, so need a little adjustment time. When I went to the runners store and found the right show with the proper insert, the pain in my…

Make recipes that are (habitually) made for dinners as your lunch. I like my sandwiches (for now), but you could do anything in the cookbook.

The link didn't work for me, but i had an overweight friend who was on state health insurance (so she paid next to nothing) and had her gastric bypass surgery paid for (she was a little smaller than my starting weight). After the surgery, she would still go into the Starbucks and have frappacinnos on a regular basis and…

I agree about the "no thanks" part. As much as I would like to share with people that I'm trying to get healthy, I also don't want their "input" on how they "lost" weight. I've mentioned it to a couple of my co-workers (I work at a coffee shop) only so they can kindly remind me that I told them I don't want to eat the…

Talk to your husband about this. Sadly, he'll never be able to read your mind, and if he doesn't know this hurts now, he never will. He probably charishes you more than you realize, just give him the chance. :-)

My scale does it automatically. I put in my weight and age, and it has sensors that measure my body fat %, water %, and one other thing (I forget right now). Spent about $30 at bed bath and beyond (less with the 20% off coupons I get in the mail).

OH Ya! Another one was (while making a making someone's drink at the coffee shop), an older man walks up to the counter and says: "You should cut back on the whipped cream and you'll lose weight. I'm a doctor, I'm trying to help." Three years later, I still see him on the street and want to tell him what a j***-a** he is.…

That's a comment I make about myself, but never in a self-deprecating way. I remember in high school, a friend (skinny friend) was telling me about her mother (who was larger) and how much she loved her mom and loved cozy-ing up to her because she was so comfy. (I thought it was endearing). :-)

I was called "Flubber" as a kid (remember the movie). My favorite though, is when some guy bumped into me on the street (him bumping into me, not the other way around) he told me that I need to watch what I'm doing because I took up more of the road. I then told him he needed to learn to walk in a straight line. :-)

I try to anticipate my sweet craving and have a piece of chocolate (usually a dove dark chocolate is what I love, and it's only about 40 calories per piece). There are also other lower carlorie frozen treats that you can get (just saw 90 calorie new Greek frozen yogurt bars in the grocery aisle).

I agree with you Sunflower. I think it has to do with confidence. I've also been overweight my whole life, but usually have a friendly smile and make eye contact, so the same happens for me (open doors, friendly gestures), unless of course the person is an oaf. :-)

This is just a phrase to justify being grossly overweight. I've never grabbed onto it because I know that my obsessive eating and extra hundred pounds are not natural and just my overindulgence.

Any chicken noodle soup should be fine, just put the recipe into MFP to know what is appropriate to eat. Also, if you're sick, take vitamin Zinc, it helps shorten the life of a cold (by a lot). It's always been my magical cure. :-) Oh ya, I take it with food.

Hi everyone, my name is Allison and I'm 26. I'd been the stereotypical fat opera singer since I was 12, and now that I'm older and my career is developing, I really fit the part. :-P My goal is about lifestyle change that results in weight loss. I've been an over-eater, binge eater, and anything else you can call it. I've…

Is there a way to surf the MFP recipes? I've submitted a few myself for the database, but am not sure if there is a way to search others (outside of this forum). -Allison
