Here's a nice article/explanation for the different categories of processed foods I think: The ingredients for Just Eggs taken from Amazon's product page -- if these are what you're eating they're highly processed and not better for you or more nutritious than eggs. The same is true for the new plant based meat products --…

Replacing whole foods with highly processed foods for health concerns doesn't sound like a good idea to me -- these imitation egg/meat products are not health foods. Did your doctor actually advise you to cut back on/out eggs and meat and replace them with these products? I'd get a second opinion if they did. Best wishes…

This is so tough. Yes it's rude not to eat with everyone else (in my opinion) but they're being terrible hosts as well -- they should be going out of their way to make you feel comfortable and providing something you can enjoy too! At this point it sounds like you need to decide what you're going to do and just do it.…

Not very helpful for most it seems but I just don't eat foods I want to overeat by thousands of calories that don't satiate on a regular/weekly basis. I save those sorts of indulgences for the holidays or a one off type of occasion. I do eat large, indulgent meals regularly but there's a world of difference for me between…

Meat and eggs are both healthful and more nutritious than bread. If you enjoy them eat them -- they're good for you.

Steak and eggs is a classic. Sauteed cabbage (thinly sliced like a noodle with onion & garlic, butter and vinegar) and an over easy egg on top was a favorite for a long time. Leftover meat and vegetables from dinner is a no brainer. Egg muffins are a grab and go option you can prepare ahead of time (tons of recipes for…

What about keto is helping to control your calories so you're able to lose weight? For many it's a combination of things -- better eating habits (less frequent, less snacking etc), more protein, less cravings?? Really take the time to figure out what specific things about the keto diet that's helping you and see if you…

Under 50g for the low carb arm. The percentage of carbohydrate varied on the LC, MC, and HC diets (6%, 32%, and 57% energy, respectively) and fat was adjusted proportionally (74%, 48%, and 23% energy, respectively) (Figure 2B). Source

Do you think the study was designed to manipulate the results? I learned of the study from Kevin Hall's twitter feed (who some, perhaps most? consider reputable) and haven't heard any push back about the study to date. The results seem consistent with the low carb literature. RESULTS. Despite maintaining body mass,…

Dietary carbohydrate restriction improves metabolic syndrome independent of weight loss RESULTS. Despite maintaining body mass, low-carbohydrate (LC) intake enhanced fat oxidation and was more effective in reversing MetS, especially high triglycerides, low HDL-C, and the small LDL subclass phenotype. Carbohydrate…

The only thing you need for ketosis is carb restriction. Eat proper food - you can't go wrong with meat and lower carb vegetables. Do not restrict your protein and do not add more fat than what you need to make your meals delicious and satisfying. If after doing that you're still eating too many calories to lose weight…

The least amount I need to be happy with my diet - which turns out to be not much at all. Special occasions mostly.

I'm another who limits my impulse/convenience food buys to things I don't mind eating. Usually berries or lunch meat which are no prep, delicious (to me) and not something I eat regularly so they tick all of the boxes. Desserts, candy and junk food are things I eat on occasion but they're not anything I can eat casually…

I hope they're at least used for feed or fertilizer since their death is deliberate - surely they must be? I tried to google to see what they do with the culled chicks but all of the results I saw were - understandably - focused on the process.

Calories are equal but their physiological effects aren't identical. What you eat matters.
