I just returned too after a two year hiatus. I was getting tired of tracking my calories each day. My weight has slowly drifted back up to near my all time high. I run 2-3 days a week, do push-ups in the AM and try to get in 70,000 steps each week. It's not enough; I need to watch what I eat and could use all of the…

I can sympathize. When I trained and ran in the ’07 Boston marathon, I was ravenous. I would run 18-20 miles and burn off 2200 calories, which left me really hungry all the time. The day I ran the marathon, I burned over 4000 calories. How do you make up for that? I’m sure I overdid it at times. Just keep an eye on the…

Hi everyone. Mid-forty-something dad here. I have been running for 20 years and pretty consistently run 500+ miles each year. I've lost 9 lbs so far and I am delighted to see my speed increase. One of my favorite parts of losing weight. I'm doing a "race to the beach" overnight relay run in May as well as a half marathon…

I love my Rock and Roll so I love running to Coldplay, U2, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and lots of 80s music sprinkled in (Go Gos, Bangles, Van Halen, and loads of one hit wonders). ~Dave

I'm training for a half marathon in May that I do every year. I'm running 4-6 miles right now but need to begin upping the diatance. I've been playing with LYRFREE, which I like becase it gives you an update every 1/4, 1/2, or one mile. The problem I have with most GPS apps is that I don't find the speed to be that…

I generally listen to music on my iPod but I also find running to be a great time to think about and resolve my problems (as opposed to laying awake in bed at night). :) ~Dave

Thanks for sharing this article. I wish I could see myself run to know what my posture looks like. I'm sure its not ideal but it is something I think about when running. ~Dave

I'm in and posted on the Google sheet. Lets all motivate eachother!!! Dave

Could it be the machine? I run a lot and my heart rate starts out in the 120s and gradually climbs to the 160s. There is little fluctuation but then again, I pretty much maintain the same speed throughout. I wouldn't recommend holding off on a visit to the doctor. I am in my 40s too and at this age, you don't want to mess…

My co-worker has an M&M dispenser. What a temptation. There's been all sorts of client "gifts" over the holidays in the form of candy, cookies, and brownies. I made a New Years resolution to eat no sweets in the office. So far so good...but I know how tough this can be. Good luck. Dave

Feel free to add me too. I'm a mid 40s dad myself and working on a resolution to lose some weight. I love working out, but my eating habits are not at all good. Dave
