I can see where you're coming from. I've never particularly liked giving an exact number of how much weight I've lost, other than maybe to certain people who are close to me. For me, I think it has something to do with the fact that telling people how much I've lost is also like admitting how much I gained in the first…

I'm here every day too! I could use some more active friends so feel free to add me. Half of my friends list have dropped off the face of the earth so I could use some new people on my news feed :)

No Manitoba? Ok :frown: *hangs head and shuffles away*

I just turned 23 and could use some more friends! My diet has been less than perfect over the last couple of months while I have been finishing school, but now that I'm done I'm ready to get back on track. Could use some more people on my friends list for motivation/recipe swapping/just chatting in general.

I'm aiming for 1800 (450ish per workout, 4 times this week) and will be increasing my goal again next week! I'm trying to gradually work my way up since I wasn't very active last month and I don't want to injure myself by jumping back into things too quickly. It's amazing how quickly you can get out of shape when you're…

Hi! My name is Kelsey and I'm 22 years old, turning 23 in a couple weeks. I'm in the last 2 weeks of my undergraduate degrees right now, finishing up my final student teaching practicum while also applying for every job I see (I'm looking to work as a music teacher starting this fall!). I've been so busy lately that I've…

Yep, it's likely water retention which is really common when you begin a new workout regime. This link does a great job of explaining why it happens: http://www.choose2befit.com/exercise/why-you-gain-weight-with-a-new-program Keep up the good work and the weight will start coming off soon!

I had known for quite awhile that my weight had gotten out of hand and made a few half-hearted attempts to get it under control. However, it wasn't until my friend posted a bunch of pictures of me on Facebook from an outing a few weeks before that I truly saw just how much I had let myself go. I couldn't believe the huge…

Manitoban here! Though that may change in the near future, depending on where I get a job after graduation.

This is one of my favourite things to make with chickpeas. It's super easy, pretty quick, and tasty. I usually serve it on top of some toast or something similar. http://www.food.com/recipe/chickpeas-with-spinach-greek-81968

I'm not really a "runner" per say right now, but I usually run 1-2 times a week for my cardio and I'm about 270 lbs right now. I haven't injured myself or anything, but I have to say I find it quite difficult. I haven't been able to run for any longer than 20 minutes so far because my legs get too tired, presumably from…

Argh I know the feeling, I worked on a military base this summer and I always felt super uncomfortable when I went to the gym and there were a bunch of fit male officers there! Unfortunately you just have to learn to ignore them, there's not much else you can do. You can also work out at home, but you say you are staying…

It took me over 30 pounds to lose one size which was really frustrating! I often see people on here talking about how they lost 20 pounds and 3 dress sizes and it's just no fair :( haha But yes, it could be partly due to where on your body you are losing weight first. I haven't really lost all that much from my…

Welcome, and congrats on your success so far! Feel free to add me if you like. I still have about 80-90 pounds to go before I reach my ideal weight, and I am definitely here to stay! I'd be happy to have another person serious about their lifestyle change on my friends list :)
-
22 here! I wouldn't mind some new friends on the list :) I too am juggling a healthy lifestyle with school and work, plus now I'm starting the whole "get ready for the job search and being a grown up" thing which is adding more stress! Anyone can add me if they like.

A change in activity level can definitely affect your cycle. When I increased the frequency and intensity of my workouts I straight up missed my next period. My body adjusted though and my cycle soon returned to normal. I've also read in some cases people's periods become shorter when they increase their fitness? I don't…

I have one occasionally if I need to satisfy my sweet tooth but don't have the calories left to eat actual chocolate or baked goods. They taste decent - not as good as the real thing but good enough to satisfy cravings most of the time.

22 year old student here, 5'11'' and 270 lbs after putting a couple lbs back on over christmas. Hoping to get under 200 at some point this year, but the weight is coming off sooooo slowly :(

I'm nervous about the possibility of unwanted male attention again. I lost enough weight once before to be deemed "conventionally attractive" I suppose, and I couldn't believe how often I got hit on, checked out, or straight up harassed. It made me extremely uncomfortable, and I didn't really know how to deal with it at…

Wow, these comments are horrible :( I was fortunate enough to not be the subject of too much bullying (to my face at least)even though I was overweight pretty much my whole life. One comment really sticks out in my mind though. When I was about 15 my self consciousness and extremely low self esteem started getting the…

Have you changed your activity level recently? I skipped a period when I increased the frequency and intensity of my workouts, and I've heard of this happening with other women when they start working out or bump up their intensity. Another cause could potentially be stress. My cycle gets super messed up when I am under…

I'm in the same boat as you, OP - kept up with my exercise but my eating sucked! It's all that delicious christmas baking and chocolates that appear this time of year....and the booze a little bit too. I gained about 3 pounds so I guess it could have been worse, but it's still disheartening to see the scale go in the wrong…

Me! The gym is closed but I'm going to do a TurboFire video at home. And then I will promptly eat all those calories back at Christmas dinner haha
-
I started at around 300 too and we're the same age. Feel free to add me if you like :)

I've been trying really hard to phase out the christmas gift giving...but have had little success so far. I've tried straight up asking for no gifts - didn't work. I've tried giving homemade and second hand gifts for the last few years, hoping that people would catch on and do the same, but nope. At least I have an…

Size 12 is the smallest I've ever been in my adult life, and that was fairly close to my goal weight. I don't imagine I could ever be smaller than a size 10, but I'm pretty tall (5'11'') with a fairly large frame. It all just depends on the individual's height and body shape!
-
I've really been digging TurboFire lately for my cardio! It's really fun and pretty intense. I've been using it on the days I can't make it to the gym.

When you start a new workout regime, your muscles retain extra water for cushioning and to help repair themselves. It's extremely common to go up a few pounds on the scale for the first few weeks when you start working out, or change your workout. Here's a link that explains it in more detail:…

hahaha peeing rainbows, that's great! Congrats, that's a fantastic NSV. Unexpectedly fitting smaller sizes is always a nice surprise :)

Heart rate monitors are only designed to track calories burned with cardio and they are not very accurate for much else. There are some devices that are designed to keep track of your daily burn, like fitbit, but a regular heart rate monitor won't give you a very accurate number.
