Bird mites. We moved to a new hone and my skin condition improved. At first I thought it was that I eliminated gluten -- and I think it did help. But I now know it was bird mites. Before we moved from our "garden apartment" I sprayed our air conditioners with mitacide. The next day it was like someone sprinkled pepper on…

The breakfast myth. Eat when you're hungry. Really feel it.

Hi, I have developed this only recently-- under the arms, hairline at my neck, and where the underwire of my bra rubs. Though i recall during puberty hard boils that went away over time. Try a gluten free diet like the SCD diet. It keeps mine in check. I flare up when I cheat but for the most part it works.

I am doing low carb high fat -- some call it keto. Tonight for dinner we had chicken Parmesan. Boneless Chicken breast pounded flat, rolled in mayo and covered in crumb mix of crushed pork rinds, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasonings and baked 20 min at 375 degrees F. Remove, add a few tbso sugar free marinara sauce and top…

It has worked for me in the past. So I am back. I don't know how I strayed so far away from it. But after a meniscus tear, I have been sidelined from the gym so I'm not burning the 500-700 calories a day that I used to. I am working out with a physical therapist using some pilates training to help me realign my body and…

I found a line of large calf boots by Etienne Aigner that I LOVE! http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/etienne-aigner-shoes-chip-wide-calf-tall-riding-boots?ID=726119&cm_mmc=Google_Womens_Shoes_Geo_PLA-_-Womens+Shoes+PLA+Sale_Ad+Group+%232-_-16233808589_-_-_mkwid_kKP8xhSF_16233808589%7C-%7CkKP8xhSF

Hi Kricket, I remember in our WW groups once the leader said raise your hand if you are an emotional eater and the whole room raised their hands. That's why we were there. :-) The thing that worked for me -- and I don't advocate this for everyone. I tried it because it worked for my brother who was diagnosed with Type II…

I don't. I find recipes that are within my plan that taste like a treat to me.

What she said. I don't know why a low-carb hater would even click on an Atkins recipe post, except that they seem to get some kind of thrill if they get a rise, so I just don't engage them. Let them eat cake! Back to the topic at hand. Tonight I'm making an Indian dish called Butter Chicken -- marinated chicken breast with…

Go, you! Induction is really tough, and you made it through. I personally do not do a cheat day. Why? Because it brings back the cravings and to me that is the great thing about day 3 and onward, no more cravings. I experiment with sugar substitutes. Try Oopsie bread (google it) with sugar free maple syrup for breakfast.…

Where'd you go, bernadette I laugh out loud on the subway.

Agree with those who said give it about three months to settle your hormones. But if it continues, definitely tell your doc. I did hormones in the form of the Pill a short while in my 20s, then switched to condoms (I grew up during a time when we worried about AIDS). Honestly, the condom is the best in my opinion. It never…

That really sucks! Have you ruled out Rheumatoid arthritis? It almost sounds like a systemic issue. Otherwise, agree about the swimming. It's gentle on the joints.

Well, I think you are wrong about that. I have lost 10 pounds in eight weeks, without really trying. You can check out my bio if you want the whole story. But in a nutshell, my brother was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. He changed his diet and lost 40 pounds and is reversing the disease. That really motivated me to try…

I can't lose weight on that diet. I know that it works for some people but it does not work for me. Try going High fat, low carb -- I've lost 10 pounds in two months and I am never hungry and have zero cravings. It's like my hunger hit the off switch. Plus, sidelined with a knee injury, I've been away from the gym for a…

1964 GTO convertible - primer gray. My dad is a car buff. I wanted a classic Mustang -- easy to drive and park. But the "Goat" grew on me. I could fit 20 friends to the beach no problem!

I like, The only way you're getting out of here is if you pass out, puke, or die.

If you are doing low carb -- I'm doing low carb high fat (LCHF) -- you actually need more salt. And potassium and magnesium. There is a Morton's Lite salt that is half salt/half potassium. I sprinkle that on my eggs and meats. For snacks I love half dill pickles (crisp and salty) wrapped in cheese.

Thank you for the link. I'll share it with my brother -- and I'll read it myself. As I said to him, this is not just your diagnosis. We have a family health history. This is my wake up call!

 This post really made my day, just picturing these people. Isn't humankind wonderful and amazing!

Have to agree with this. But I'm in a place where I regard sugar as the insulin spiking enemy (my brother was just diagnosed T2) so it was easy for me to just let sugar go.

garlic stuffed olives -- it sounds harsh, but the garlic becomes very mild in the brine.

I had to give up sugar. And the vitamin D supplements seem to help alot.

I generally have 2 or 3 eggs scrambled in TBSP of butter or I make a 1-carb egg pancake recipe with sugar-free maple syrup. If I'm in a hurry, I just take a leftover pancake and roll it around a slab of butter and eat it on the run. I fry a pound of bacon on Sunday and keep it in the fridge. If I'm in a hurry I can grab a…

In the documentary Fat Head, the guy eats 2000 calories a day at McDonald's and other fast food places. Not only does he lose 12 pounds, but all his blood lipid indicators improve. So, depends on how you characterize junk, but ostensibly, yes, you can. I highly recommend the movie. It's a life changer.

Agave is the worst actually. Because the fructose/glucose ratio is so high. Honey is better than Agave. I'm not a baker, myself, but there are a lot of folks out there really testing this stuff. Google Paleo + Baking and you will get a ton of tested recipes.

I top cucumbers with all kinds of things -- cheese, hummus. Love that crunch!

Bless you! I hope that you heal quickly. Can I just say that it really angers me that docs are not being real with patients when they diagnose them. My brother was recently diagnosed with T2 and he has brought it under control without meds but it took a very very strict diet -- a total elimination of sugar, even the so…

Totally agree. And you know what else? Most people are not looking at other people and judging. Most people are there dealing with their own goals and challenges. It's only a narcissistic few that sit around judging others. Most of us are there to work!

It is absolutely possible -- and a nice sign that you are losing body fat, not lean muscle. Keep doing what you're doing. The scale will catch up to you eventually.
