I've been using the Zombies 5K app on my phone. It's like the couch to 5k, only with added zombies and an interesting story line. It's really kept me motivated!

Try doing lower impact strength exercises to build up the strength around the knees gradually. Also, a balance board like an indo board would help strengthen the little muscles around the knees and ankles. The other thing that seems to help me with my crunchy knees is taking Glucosamine. It actually seems to help with the…

It may have changed more than you realise! I previously lost loads of weight and was convinced that none of it had come off my gut. It was only when I saw before and after pictures that I realised that it actually had! When you look at yourself in the mirror every day, it's hard to notice the changes.

I was living in Glasgow until a couple of years ago, now I'm out near Falkirk. I still work in town though. Feel free to add me.

I'm curious about that as well, I'm desperate to get an indoboard. I used one on a surfing holiday and it really does help your balance and the core muscles! Not sure about logging it as surfing though, as most of the calories you burn doing that are from paddling out to the waves in the first place!

I actually think it's important to have the occasional "day off". If you don't, then I think it's much easier to get discouraged with your diet to the stage where you come off it altogether. That's what used to happen to me anyway! Now, I try to be good 90% of the time, and don't beat myself up over the remaining 10%. I'm…

It might be worth checking your sodium intake. Too much and you could be retaining a lot of water.

Indian curry (with rice, pakora, chapatis, etc...) and ice cold bottles of Innis and Gunn beer

Good for you! I'm in the same boat, I lost nearly 4 stone back in Uni, then hit my final year and, with stress and studying I put it all back on and some more! Years (more than I would like), and several attempts later and I'm trying to get going again. Feel free to add me.

This is something I tend to do as well, so I'm curious as to what people's responses will be. The only thing I've found that seems to work even a little is getting dark chocolate with a really high cocoa percentage (Lindt or something like that) and trying to just have a square of it when I need a treat. Unfortunately I've…

Thanks for all the encouragement! I can't tell you how helpful it is to me!

I wouldn't buy running shoes online. Go to a proper running shoe store where they can fit you based on how you walk and run. Some people need a lot of support in their shoes, some people don't.

Hi, If you're getting shin splints, you should really go to a specialist running shoe store. I went to one because I had the same problem. They got me to walk on a treadmill to see how I moved, and decided I was an "over-pronator", so I needed extra support for my running shoes. It really has made a huge difference!
