I wear a heart rate monitor for my workouts. If I work out in a zone of about 135-165 beats per minute I burn about 10 calories per minute so a 1hr. burn would be about 600 calories for me and I'm a big girl. My workout buddies go early so I do to. I get to the gym at 5am and get back home by 6:30 in time to get ready for work.

Depends on what zone you want to work out in. The fat burn zone or the aerobic zone. Also depends on your weight and age. You can do a search for the formula.

Don't worry keep up with the exercise and healthy eating. Your arms and legs will get the message. My legs and arms are always the last to thin down when I lose weight. I am also naturally thicker in those areas.

Juice was my shocker too. I don't drink juices anymore. Instead I eat fruit or have an iced tea with a little juice in it for sweetener.

I'm 5'9 and 220lbs. I want to lose 50 more. I currently have lost 50 since January of 2012. Lots of exercise and logging everything. Feel free too add me if you want.

I stay motivated by making it a habit to log every bite of food every day and exercise at least 4 times a week. Once it's a habit it gets so much easier. I still slip up from time to time and go way over my calories but I still log it. Feel free to add me if you want friends who are motivated.

This is an interesting question and I have wondered the same thing myself. My opinion is that when you workout your calorie burn is elevated a little for a while after you workout too. If you think about it this way it just sort of evens out so I log every calorie my HRM gives me during my workout.

I needed to read this this morning. Thanks for posting. I feel like I have hit a wall lately and that slippery slope is trying to creep up on me. I too try to remind myself everyday of all the reasons I am doing this.
