  • I have been toying with the IF as well. I am playing with a 16/8 split (Although my usual eating patterns are out the window this week due to vacation). For a start, I am not totally doing a 16 hour fast. It seems that a lot of the benefit is that is simulates some benefit of low carb ketosis. So to ease myself in by…
  • If you are close to goal and exercising the way you say, then you really need to focus on getting enough calories. You need to make sure you are getting plenty of water and protein. You should consider trading out some of that cardio for weight lifting. You need to build muscle and you need calories and protein for that.…
  • I totally agree. I don't take compliments well and like many here its always "I still have a ways to go" or "I'm getting there". I think part of it is that I can't recognize the changes in myself. I hope that when I reach my goal that I will be able to see what I have accomplished. Right now, I just feel like a work in…
  • I agree. Unfortunately in some workplaces it is prevalent.
  • For ready made I like premier. I use the vanilla in place of creamer/sugar in my coffee. I also use the Syntrax nectar cappuccino (again I mix with my coffee for breakfast). I rarely drink protein shakes outside of my coffee. If you go to nashuanutrition.com, you can purchase samples of any of their protein powders (they…
  • As far as other protein bars, my new favorite is Combat bars (Muscle Pharm). They are like a candy bar but the combo of texture and the feeling of fullness keeps me satisfied. Pure protein bars (peanut butter) are good. Not as tasty but maybe less of a trigger for you. I keep some of the trigger type foods hidden so they…
  • I got one from lands end as well The bottom is board shorts and the top is a tankini. Not much we can do about the arm hang in a bathing suit :(
  • Why are you using in smoothies? I have only used this when I was baking gluten free.
  • I have been giving away, selling and donating. Luckily they just put in a Goodwill about 1/2 mile from my house so I walk down there a lot and have found some good things to take me to the next stage.

  • This is very interesting. Perhaps with success there is more hope of attaining the goal so they extend it out a little. I am actually surprised that they circled the correct current body. The other day I was at a cookout and wouldn't sit in one of the chairs (there were 3 of these) I actually had my boyfriend switch with…
  • That can sometimes happen with low carb. What you really need to look at is your HDL, LDL, triglycerides and your ratios. Total cholesterol is just one picture. Eating too low (starvation/fasting) can also increase overall cholesterol.
  • Yay! Great NSV
  • Great info, thanks. :)

  • Congrats to you. You are doing well. I agree with what the others have said. Follow the process, it will work. Make sure you are getting enough protein and water and increase your activity as tolerated.
  • That's awful. I don't mind being poked at all I was the guinea pig for my bf at his phlebotomy class. 4 sticks each time and my insurance has no co pays so I would really like it done before that changes.

  • Here is a link to some quest bar recipes. You can also bake them into cookies. http://www.swansonvitamins.com/blog/chelsea/26-quest-bar-recipes-cheatclean They have a lot more on their website If you are looking for better option chips, I like simply 7 quinoa chips and Healthsmart pickle flavored protein krinkles. Not as…
  • Awesome! I plan on doing ziplining for my birthday this year.

  • My puree and soft foods were the same stage so I didn't have to puree real soft foods: tuna, egg, chicken salad made with wholy guacamoly, refried beans with melted cheese, ricotta bake, I pureed any meat the family had with broth (ham and meatloaf were the best), yogurt (great at all stages - it was on my full liquids as…
  • Thanks everyone. They made it seem like they would do complete bloodwork at 6 months and I am a bit disappointed. I think I can back off on some of the supplements (such as iron) but wanted to see the numbers. I will talk to them at the appointment and if not, I will see my PCP.

  • I am a big fan of Sole. I used to have a treadmill and elliptical both from that company (I lost them both in a house fire otherwise I would still have them :'( ). I suggest trying a few and see which is sturdy enough. If you go with the treadmill, consider what you will be doing on it. If you plan to run at some point,…
  • Sorry for your loss. Kudos to you for staying on track during such a difficult time. Focus one day at a time, don't let the scale dictate your success, don't compare yourself to anyone else, get your water in, meet protein goals and walk, walk, walk after surgery. Best of luck.
  • Looking great! Keep up the good work.
  • Based on your workouts, I'd recommend more calories or even alternate (higher on heavy workout days). Make sure you are getting enough water and protein at 100g. I am 5 mo out and eat 1000-1300 cals.
  • 4 hours is a long time. I eat every 3 hours. You could try some chia seeds (I use Qia which is a mix of chis, hemp and buckwheat) to the yogurt. It seems to be more filling and last longer. Protein powder and yogurt don't seem to stay too long with me. You could try something a little more dense like meat. A small snack…

  • If going to the gym is your goal, then go. Get a trainer (some gyms will offer a few free sessions with membership), it will help you feel more comfortable. People at the gym are usually focused on themselves. Don't let anything keep you from your goals. The best thing to do is what you enjoy, something that you will stick…
  • I do a quick walk before and after work. I try to purposely get up and walk around the office as much as possible and I do weights on my lunch break. My days off I try to do something active (bike, kayak, hike etc)
  • Definitely a win!
  • You look great and younger too. Love that you were photo bombed in the first one too :D
