I see your point but as someone who does math a lot I have to tell you that when they say "55%" more they mean take 55% of the original number and then add it to the original number. So if you lost 15 pounds last month and only slept an average 5 hours a night you could have lost close to . . . NOT 40 (which would be 155%…

Well I suppose you could always just cook up a bunch of chicken breast cubes in some butter and then eat 'em like little protein poppers. And its not like you have to use a LOT of butter. I've been eating a lot of greek yogurt. I also eat cheese. But both are dairy. I suppose eggs could be an option. If you want to avoid…

Sodium may be a concern for you if 1). High blood pressure may be a problem (runs in my family) 2). You watch the scale like a hawk since the sodium can cause water retention I fit into both those categories so I watch my sodium typically. As for the sugar. I don't know. I haven't tackled that yet. I still get a lot of it…

Wow great job! Both in your physical progress and your mental!! BOTH are huge obstacles to overcome. You should be incredibly proud of yourself!

I don't think I would add MORE cardio. Just maybe change up what and how you do it. Do you do interval training during your cardio? Also the advice to start doing weights is good. I started this week and the scale is responding :) Just change it up. Our bodies have an amazing ability to adapt to our circumstances and then…

Others have probably said this but . . . sodium (excessive in most processed foods and fast food) could be a huge water weight gain culprit, plus possibly TOM (but not necessarily), also if in the future you get really sore from working out and see a gain it's probably muscles retaining water. And . . . I bet you didn't…

I might . . . LOL Not sure if its PMDD but it's something and in the past PMDD has been suggested by docs. Sent a request. :)

It's those crazy endorphins . . . my body and I constantly fight about me running. It doesn't like the running (Iliotibial Band) and I never run on a regular basis for long I always end up pushing it further and injuring myself. (I can do it sometimes on a regular schedule if I only run 10 minutes max at a time) But I keep…

Never! And frankly it doesn't seem to be a factor in whether the pounds come off or not. Admittedly I do try not to eat A LOT close to bed.

To think I've been scheming on how to end the world for years and all I needed to do was eat a muffin . . . You'll be fine!! Even if you DON'T exercise it off your body will probably be thankful for the extra calories.

I also find the side effects fascinating. I imagine that even people starting at a higher weight would experience those due to malnutrition. The irritability of ALL the men was intense towards the end. Also one man noted that he actually experienced a moment of intense hatred towards a small boy b/c he thought that boy was…

I think (and more experienced ladies correct me if I'm wrong) that the point of lowering cardio (and notice the OP was doing a HUGE amount of cardio) is to lessen the amount of calories you need to eat back in order to NET your BMR in calories consumed. The heavy lifting helps in (I believe) raising your TDEE b/c you will…

Cardio is great for MOOD. Anyone who struggles with depression and anxiety can tell you a good bout of cardio on a regular basis will do more for your emotional health than weightlifting. (Or than many prescription medications for that matter!!!!!) Nothing beats a good old fashioned cardio high. I will be doing strength…

Love the article about the men in Minnesota! Fascinating. Starving on 1800 calories a day for 6 months. They look like skeletons at the end.

I used to do this, but in my early twenties (since I'm SO old now ) but I have hard time getting myself to do it these days. Would it really work better if I could get myself to do it RIGHT after I get up in morning?
-
No kidding!!!!

Because wasps are innately evil and know where to go to be the MOST trouble. Guess you will just have to use a pot from the kitchen. Do it the old way . . .

Why oh why did I give in and do this . . .

I use quite a bit of chicken broth in my cooking and I found that I could find very low sodium chicken broth at the store if I looked. Before that even the lower sodium chicken broth had 500 mg per cup. Now I have one that has 75 mg per cup. I also found that some of my seasoning mixes/dry soups were the culprit. So I've…

And this is why HIIT or Interval Training is so effective. If I'm walking/jogging I may sprint for 30 seconds and then I get to walk slowly for a few minutes while still getting the calorie burn of a higher heart rate.

LOL Nope, not a man, but I do understand the happiness that comes when fat is not longer making trouble where it should not be.
-
Well save the protein from that leg. I need to add more into my diet anyway.

Okay, rethought comment. If only the internet weren't permanent.

Sounds just like South Beach. I wouldn't spend money on the book, but if you can get it from the library or download it free to a kindle go for it. Otherwise I would simply look into the general rules/concepts of the program which I'm sure can be found somewhere on the web. None of these are a "magic formula" but many of…

As to the original OP. I'd say if you really want another one. Go ahead now. That said, four kids is still a big family. My mother did her best but paying attention to even 4 kids was a huge job and yeah SOME kids from large families may end up feeling neglected and/or unloved at times. I know this from personal…

You are exactly right. Those children over 1 year of age waiting to be adopted need more love and attention than most kids and it does take a strong person to do this--but maybe if you are a person who really loves kids then it makes it all the more worthwhile?

This thread is already too long. It's sad. I don't currently know anyone with cancer. They have all passed. Father-in-law passed end of July 2011. Lung Cancer. First cousin. My age. Died when we were both 8. Didn't know what it was then, haven't asked since. Both grandfathers. Lung Cancer. Grandmother. Skin Cancer…

I'm exactly like you . . . I don't believe it when it says good things . . . Last time something like this happened to me I changed the battery in the scale  but it remained the same. It won't kill you to wait a couple days to record it b/c then won't have to record a gain during your TOM. Although to be honest,…

   So funny that anyone would be so passionate about the definition. It's inconsistent. Don't let yourself be defined and it won't matter so much!!!
