π Sandy, what a great picture. It looks like your kind of fun with lots of people who are special to you. π Jackie, our veterinary practice did something similar, joining a business that changed so many practices. Jake talked about taking our pets somewhere else, but he liked the vets so we stayed. π Lin, thanks for theβ¦

π I picked ten tomatoes off my plant this morning. All the rest are still green.

π The good news this morning is that Social Security has confirmed the change in my tax withholding, I sent in the request about three weeks ago. I checked and the withholding has been changed on my pension. Also when I got the distribution from my IRA it reflected the additional withholding that I asked for. That'sβ¦

π Lanette, I loved the story of the guy at the party hitting on you. My dog walking friend is occasionally approached by a male neighbor wondering if she'd like to go for coffee or something. She has been alone for about ten years and is fine with being alone. She has befriended her male neighbors but only as a friend,β¦

π A character in the book I was reading last night told her friends that as a new widow she put "get out of bed" on her to do list so she would have something to cross off. I know that am very accomplishment inclined and feel the day is not a good one if I don't accomplish something. It would probably help to put *brushβ¦

π I did it. I went to the neighbourhood bbq. I just ate the hot dog I'd been thinking about with a bun, some onions, pickles, and tomatoes. I skipped the baked beans, pasta salad, chips, soft drink, and cupcake. I sat with people I knew and joined the conversation. It was fun but I didn't feel like I wished I could do itβ¦

π I am close enough to the coast to see tsunami warnings in my online weather forecast but far enough away to not have to be concerned about any effects in my neighbourhood. Thanks to you who asked. π Our manufactured home park has a summer bbq every year. it's today and I am considering going because I have lately beenβ¦

π The nasturtiums and pumpkins have flowers, the tomatoes are still green, the sunflowers are almost as tall as I am and some needed stakes to hold them up, the dogs are playful, the wifi is behaving itself, and I am averaging over 15,000 steps a day. Life is good. π Sandy, when I read that you were looking forward toβ¦

π Hello, Ethel, you are a cutie.

π My Saturday walk with my friend from Alabama turned out great. Near the end of our walk we passed the home of some newer residents who have been very busy landscaping their yard and eager to talk about it. My friend wants to do something with the previously neglected yard in her new home, so she made a new friend who isβ¦

π Rosemarie, I've missed you so I'm happy to hear what you've been up to. You have a lot going on. Several people mentioned "The Let Them Theory" awhile ago but there was no general discussion. I've known for a long time that it's not my job to help anyone else feel better. The book goes into greater detail and addressesβ¦

π I have enjoyed reading all the money saving tips. Here's one that I was raised with: The way to save money is to not spend it. π² Assuming that one has some income beyond what's needed for essentials. personal values are important in decision making. Among us we have many different things that we value and those are theβ¦

π I've been reading but not feeling chatty. My days feel busy and I feel useful but the days are so similar that there seems to be nothing to write about. π One of my mother's funny lines was "Having nothing to do, I write. Having nothing to say, I close". That's me. π Sandy, we had big rent increase here a few years agoβ¦

π Terri, Happy Anniversary. π Dementia, My dog walking friend cared for her husband who had Alzheimer's and then trained as a Hospice volunteer so she learned about how to interact with someone with dementia. What I remember most of what she told me was that you just have to respond to what the person says and not try toβ¦

π»π Margaret, I agree with you about automatic renewals but Jake had his own ideas. I was able to cancel quite a few that had reminders but these appeared without warning. In the instructions to my daughter, I list things that pay automatically (utilities primarily). π Allie , there are so many cute kids in your life. πβ¦

π I just finished dealing with another thing that Jake had scheduled for auto renewal that I didn't know about. Since this was something that was mailed to the house, I just called and paid for it and made sure that it didn't come again next year. The other one was an online service that surprised me with a charge ofβ¦

π In today's mail I got a letter from the credit card I rarely use, telling me that they had raised my credit limit to $17,000. That's crazy. It's a higher limit than either of the credit cards that I've used regularly for years. π On today's "Jeopardy" there was a mention of the Statue of Liberty". It reminded me of theβ¦

π The dogs and I woke up extra early this morning so we were finished with breakfast and ready for a real walk extra early. The only thing better than walking between 7 and 8 here is walking between 6 and 7. It is foggy and misty this morning so the temps were way below 60. Even with a long walk and stops to talk to twoβ¦

π All is well here. Garden is growing, dogs are having fun, I keep finding new stuff to watch on TV. I was inspiired by the neighbourhood garage sale and cleared out two kitchen cabinets and one drawer. I have three bags in the car to take to the charity shop. I used the 20/20 rule from The Minimalists. If you can replaceβ¦

π I have three bags ready to take to Goodwill. I used the 20/20 rule from The Minimalists. If you can replace it for less than 20 dollars in less than 20 minutes, then you don't have to keep it "just in case". I got rid of baking sheets, cooking racks, various containers for taking food to a potluck, and kitchen utensilsβ¦

π Annie, in general, the people I talked to didn't want their "antiques" or collections to go to Goodwill because the CEO of Goodwill earns a large salary, or they didn't want to just "give away" things that were precious. Some of these people can't keep their cars in their garages because of all of the precious "stuff"β¦

π My walk around my neighbourhood gave me a lot of food for thought about why people hang on to "things". I stopped to talk to the people I know from my walks and they told me about their stuff. I'm so glad I just gave things away and didn't worry about "value". π I did some chores today. I locked Annie in the back yardβ¦

π I went to college for five years right out of college leaving with a BS in Sociology/Anthropology and an MEd in Elementary Education. A year before I graduated from high school my grandmother sold the home she'd lived in for decades and split the proceeds between my sister and me for our college expenses. Thanks to aβ¦
