Bump, looks delicious and South Beach friendly, thanks for posting.

According to the South Beach eating plan "bad carbs" are ones that can spike your blood sugar, like foods with added sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes, high sugar fruits, etc. and are strictly limited. For those of us who get cravings and hunger after eating these foods (due to an insulin spike followed by low…

You can enter negative calories as "quick added" but I don't know a way to do negative macros.

In case you missed my earlier post--it should be Ohio State University. Ohio University is a different school in a different city.
-
You can delete foods from the "frequent" list, so maybe use that list for most of your logging.
-
I would just like to point out that Ohio University in Athens and Ohio State University in Columbus are two different colleges. Some of you are confusing them. This study was done at Ohio State.

I bet you are from WA. :) I am also voting for labeling because I want to know as much as possible about what I eat. Most of what I know about GMO's is from Mercola since I read his newsletters but I do understand how biased he is, and I don't always take the time to read his references.

Bump so I can read the article when I'm not so tired.

It sounds like South Beach phase two might be a good fit for you, or a way to transition to higher but healthy carbs like whole grains, low sugar fruits, beans. legumes and more veggies.

Are you sure you're not pregnant? How many calories are you eating?

I often mix ground turkey meat with salsa, onions and garlic and then use it all week for taco salads, stuffed peppers, taco pizza (on whole grain tortilla or portabello mushrooms), nachos using whole grain chips and stuffed zucchini boats.

I have a bunch of soup recipes, most of which are South Beach friendly, on Pinterest: www.pinterest.com/issypal This week I made a huge pot of 17 bean soup and then divided it into two pots--flavored one with Italian seasonings and added Foster Farms Italian turkey meatballs, and flavored the other one with taco/chili…

For me I like to fill up on fiber from veggies because it keeps the calories down, but when I am low on calories I try to add more protein and good fats. I don't think the fiber in whole grains fills me up very well because the high carbs if eaten without fats or protein make me hungry a few hours later.

I look for low sugar and whole grains. Kashi and South Beach bars work for me.
-
My favorite too! I first tasted them a few years ago when they were giving out samples at at orchard in Washington. Now I buy them whenever they are affordable.

67 here. At our age it takes a lot of patience to keep losing after years of yo-yoing, especially if exercise is difficult, but it can be done.

DH's blood sodium was too low in his last blood work and they said they would hospitalize him if he couldn't get it back in the normal range. He was in urgent care at the time for shingles so they gave him an IV of saline solution. Due to his lymphoma he was on diuretics as well as some heart meds. They immediately told…

I made these quinoa pizza bites tonight--delicious! and very filling. http://fitsuccess.blogspot.com/2013/02/healthy-snack-quinoa-pizza-bites.html?m=1

Phase one of the South Beach plan got rid of my cravings.

I did a quick search and came up with this: http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/nutrition/healthy-eating/5-important-reasons-to-cut-diet-soda.html 2. Dehydration Diet soda does not cause dehydration, but studies show that those who reach for diet sodas tend to use that as replacement for water. Water is the best…

Definitely going to try these, they are even South Beach friendly. To the OP--do you have a link to a website for the recipe? I would like to pin it to one of my Pinterest boards. Thanks.

Love this thread and I've only read 3 pages so far. --No longer wear tank tops because with the weight loss and my age of 67 I now have bat wings. --boobs have shrunk--good thing for me, bad for hubby --wearing outdated clothes but they fit --drive waitresses crazy with customizing orders --spend way too much time reading…

I like it in smoothies with almond milk, frozen bananas, and choc. pb protein powder. It's also good mixed in ricotta with some cool whip.

Oh thank you so much, I am 67 :) and my grandson is 4 days in that picture.

Even with my mild diuretic I have to get my potassium checked regularly. DH takes a stronger diuretic for his Lymphoma fluid retention and he has to take potassium with it. So definitely ask your doc about potassium.
-
I'm not familiar with that one. I take a mild diuretic and it helps with water weight. If I've forgotten to take it I usually gain 1-2 lbs. and my rings are tight.
-
Bump because I want to follow this thread.
-
Exercise is a great anti-depressant.
-
Yep. This is why I use South Beach guidelines, the plan was first developed to help prevent type II diabetes and heart disease, weight loss was a side benefit.
