LOL. I was checking out how to scan with my iPad and it scanned my fingers which were behind the camera, gave me a food, so I'm thinking it may not be too reliable.:noway:

Yes--please include sugar for those of us who count sugar.

Are you taking any medications with a lot of sodium? I can always tell when I retain water by how my rings fit.

I've switched entirely to olive oil and balsamic vinegar, too much sugar and sodium in most commercial dressings for me. I use about twice as much vinegar as oil.

You're welcome. You can also put up "wanted" adds but some groups require that you offer something first, read through your groups' rules. It's a good way to get rid of things too.

www.freecycle.org sign up for one or more of the Seattle area groups. I belong to East King County and Snoqualmie Valley. People offer free clothes all the time and you may also get some other goodies.

Cravings can be caused by a spike in blood sugar followed by an insulin response followed by a drop in blood sugar. Your diary shows you eating a lot of sugar and other high glycemic index foods. If you are eating these at night no wonder you wake up with cravings.

From what I have read about saturated fat--in the studies that the American Heart Association adopted the research didn't separate the effects of trans fats and saturated fats. Later research showed that trans fats were the cuprit in heart disease but a lot of the medical community still hasn't changed their stance.

Weighing on Mondays keeps me more accountable on the weekends. :)

I think setting a good example and cooking healthy for him is about all you can do. My DH asked me to start logging for him after I had lost about 30lbs. Now he has lost 90 lbs (part diet, part loss of appetite due to chemo), over twice as much as I have lost.

When I took exercise physiology in grad school back in 1969 we got our max hr by running around a track until we couldn't run any more, if I remember right mine was around 215. This may not be the recommended way now but I would think an actual number from exercise would be more accurate than a general formula.

Having mine open keeps me more accountable. I think the only ones who ever look at it are my friends and they sometimes give constructive comments but usually it's just a quick "nice day". Once in a while someone will ask for a recipe. I also get some good ideas from looking at my friends' diaries. ETA--congrats for…

Beef jerkey--get the butcher to slice a roast very thin, then cut in strips, coat with a seasoning salt and let sit overnight, then put in dehydrator until crisp.

From my Pinterest dessert board: www.pinterest.com/issypal When you have a sweet tooth and want to stay on track, here's a nice treat. No flour OR sugar! 3 mashed bananas (ripe), 1/3 cup apple sauce, 2 cups oats, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup raisins (optional), 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20…

Feel free to look at mine. I'm set at 1300 but am usually closer to 1200. I use South Beach for my guidelines--lots of veggies to fill me up and low sugar to prevent blood sugar spikes.

About every second week I will cook a pound of ground turkey with salsa and use it for several days for taco salads, stuffed peppers and taco pizza (on a whole grain tortilla.)

Taco salad using ground turkey. One of my "go-to" meals.

Great idea!

I get 1380 plus exercise for you for tues, wed and thurs this week. Maybe your math is off.

It's certainly physically possible. When hubby was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma they removed 15 lbs of fluids from his tissues and pleural cavity.

I am stuffed after a big veggie/meat stir-fry.

I often pre-log, especially my dinner, but if the quantity that I actually eat changes I adjust it so I am more accurate. If over stating helps you and you are still eating enough then great.
