My profile picture was taken in downtown Shanghai, China this past December. That was almost 20lbs ago. I did not realize how much weight I had gained until viewing my pictures when I returned home. As you can see, I was wearing a sweater to cover my belly bulge.

Dead lifts were one of my FAVORITES when I was working out. Presently I can't bend forward very well without pain...I'm thinking of trying planks..not sure how that will go. My core is horrible.

Yes, muscle will help my spine. If i can even strengthen my core I think it will make a difference.

I agree. The right physiotherapist makes a huge difference. I've been through a few and am very pleased with who I am now with.

I bought the zumba x-box game but have not tried it yet..so I guess we will see. As far as dancing goes...I dance around the house with the radio on every now and again.(usually a few minutes) I don't think I'm up to a night out dancing.

Thanks. It's so comforting to not feel alone in this battle anymore.

Thanks. I have been noticing a difference in my pain with the weight lowering. More energy than before too. I am still get physio and traction on my back and neck. Hope you feel better too.

Thanks...I love walking and used to be an avid hiker. Who knows I may just work my way back to that once my weight lowers.

I agree and feel the same way.

I tried yoga but it flared my back up again. I thought it may of been coincidence and tried again and same thing happened again. I think its the downward bending that does it.

I'm going to find out where I can join a pool this week. Sounds like an excellent exercise for me.

I love to dance.

I bought the Zumba game for my x-box. Haven't tried it yet though.

I so feel for you. I know exactly what you are talking about. There have been periods where I'm in so much pain I can't sit , stand or lay down without pain. Getting up from a sitting position made me yelp and walk hunched over like a little old lady. It can be terrible when acting up.

Swimming sounds awesome. Never thought of it. Thanks for the ideas everyone.

I've stenosis in my lower back with numerous bulged and herniated discs throughout my spine. My neck herniations are the worst right now. My accident caused some compression injuries with crushed vertebras.

I used to jog 5km/day and go to the gym 4 days a week up until 3 years ago. It makes me sad not being able to jog anymore. I have tried a couple times and only last 1/2km before I feel it. Maybe I will build up to it again. I miss it more than anything...except maybe kayaking. I've limited my calorie intake to 1200 but…

I'm walking 2-3 days per week, doing leg lifts, and stair stepping so far. I do have some free weights at home that I could use if I knew safe of using them without putting strain on my neck or back.
