tomorrow is a new day... we all have bad days, weeks.... the important thing is that as soon as you can get back on track. It will get easier but no one is perfect.... look for support here when you are feeling ready to fall off the edge... feel free to add me as a friend if you like.

do you think she was trying to compete with you or toying with you with the run/walk?? I highly doubt it. My experience seeing younger runners is that they do take walk some walk breaks. I have been passed by a youngster only to catch up and pass when they are walking only to be passed by them again. I don't think you…

Pros: To repeat what others have said, something to look forward to. Cons: Cannot really think of any unless you lose total control... (which I have on occasion). Sometimes I track, most times I do not. I used to have cheat weekends but now trying to limit it to 1 day. If we are going out to eat or to a party/having a…

Bottom line, you have to do what is best for your body... not one thing works for all..... I know I run better and recover better after a run with my routine...

and invest in a foam roller for those IT bands!!!

Since I have had injuries, I did start incorporating stretching before and after. Before, I do a brisk 5-10 minute walk. If you have smart phone there is a great app called Yoga for Runners. Has a pre and post run yoga/stretch routine, probably about 15 minutes each.

Diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow. In a splint (on the wrist) and resting, icing. He said if not better by time of my knee surgery he will inject it - apparently a very painful injection. Also put me on a stronger, prescription strength anti-inflammatory which I think is helping a bit. I guess my hopes…

I am having a minor surgery end of month on my knee and will be out for 4-6 weeks... My problem also is I am having elbow issues which I believe is a tendinitis but will find out more when I go to doctor tomorrow. I was hoping to be able to do upper body work but not sure at this point. If you can get up and down off floor…

Brooks Ravenna is my fav but everyone is different. For you knee issues, make sure you have not only strong quads and hamstrings but also flexible as well!

I am hot at 47... well at least in my hubby's eyes!

It really depends on the exercise I do. Also, don't go by the cardio machines calorie burn either... If you are having success and eating back your exercise calories, don't sweat it.

Love it! It is a great program. I started running about 2 years ago and started with that and did a bunch of 5Ks, a 10K and a half. I have struggled with some injuries here and there and always use it to ease myself back into running. Good luck!

I think the calories given by MFP are way over estimated... I wear a HRM and it is always much less than MFP calories.
-
are you getting enough protein??
-
ha ha... thought you were talking about the guys above your post!

I hope those weight lifters don't come on here and start bullying us telling us that we are wasting our time....

curious about this myself but being a distance runner, I guess the answer really does not matter that much to me!

I don't think it is a smart move to try and lose more than a pound or so per week... it is a journey not a race... I think you would need too much of a calorie deficit to do that...
-
5 feet 5 inches at around 152 ish... want to get down to 139.9...
-
Not really cutting out anything in particular, however, I am avoiding buying my trigger foods... that being said, if I go somewhere and it is there I will probably eat it! I don't believe in giving up a particular food group, unless you need to for medical reasons... I just need to learn portion control.
-
yep, nothing you can do... but maybe your scale needs a new battery since those are some big fluctuations but all the variables above could probably cause that much of a fluctuation..

I "need" my pre-bedtime snack... If I go to bed the slightest bit hungry I cannot sleep! but it is also a bit of a habit but I feel as long as I am in my calorie range, I am not going to worry about it. I am in bed by 9 ish and I usually don't have any food to eat until close to 7 or 8, except for my coffee and warm lemon…
-
my suggestion is also to be consistent with stretching... many say you don't need to stretch before or run but I do before and after. I have an app on my iphone called yoga for runners and they have a great pre- and post run routine... I think about 15 minutes each...
-
If you are hungry eat... if not, I would not worry about it... I am hungry most of the time though!

someone posted this article on another thread... interesting. I eat back some of my exercise calories but not all. I found if I ate them all, I was not losing and maybe this article explains why..; http://www.runnersworld.com/weight-loss/how-many-calories-are-you-really-burning-0?page=single

Interesting article.. Thanks!

I would give it total rest... no curls or anything... I listened to someone telling me to work through it as long as I warmed it up good before hand, and now I think it is worse then ever after 2+ weeks of rest... hence why I am heading to doctor... Pain is not normal, especially when it does not go away and you should not…

I have the same issues!! both elliptical and cybex... I might try wearing my vibrams on it and see if that helps
