  • To me, numbers on a scale going down would be progress. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.
  • Thanks for sharing!
  • I just read a recent thread this morning where you said Nutella was your miracle drug; maybe Reese's cups are hers.
  • Bumping for you. I think your BMR is what keeps your body functioning before activity; many MFP posts suggest that your net intake should not go below your BMR. Good luck.

  • Bumping for you... good luck :)
  • I don't yet have the confidence for classes either; I use the machines at my gym but hoping one day my endurance will support me trying the classes. I love my youtube and DVDs though - maybe start there. Put on your workout outfit, down to the shoes; that helps me. Don't wait until you want to exercise before you exercise;…
  • That is a lot of exercise, especially the 1.5 hour intense aerobics sessions. I wonder if maybe you're not getting enough water on those days?
  • I agree that you should forgive yourself. Feeling that much shame will never help, and we're not meant to be sad. However, after reading and rereading your post a few times, I really hope that you see your doctor sooner - or at the very least are completely upfront with him or her on every bit of this. To not be able to go…
  • Your story of freedom will touch a thousand hearts
  • MerryLow... I hope you are still there. I hope you're still working on your goals and still holding faith. I hope you can take a look at this MFP member's before-and-after, and - most especially - reading her description of the freedom that is meant to be yours too. http://www.sarahsfashionablylate.blogspot.com/ (from MFP…
  • Terrific job! You look great!
  • Oatmeal has been my lifesaver too, with a spoonful of dark chocolate peanut butter for protein. It has done wonders for my energy level and cravings. Oh, edited to add: it's *really* filling, too.
  • Congratulations on only having 5 lbs to go! That part is great. I wonder if you might have to increase your net intake a bit.
  • But you're still here, which probably means more than you know. Why not start right now? Why not start by logging in everything you've had so far today? I know it's hard, but you'll feel a little better if you just take a definitive step. I think for many people it's just a matter of not waiting to start until…
  • I'm sorry your post got lost in the threads. That is the only downside to so many threads; a few get lost along the way. I am reading stories like this every day in the forums, so you're definitely in the right place being here - it will let you get back on track, logging faithfully, and being able to spot patterns. Maybe…
  • If I read that right, you lost 13 pounds in six weeks, right? If so, that is slightly over two pounds a week! I know it's discouraging to see it under 2 lbs on a given week, but keep in mind the bigger picture. You must be doing something right! Just hang in there; it will keep happening
  • As a child, when my shoe size changed from a 3 to some larger unknown, I was really beside myself. The shoes I loved weren't out there anymore, and I remember squeezing my little feet into those size 3s after that, whenever I was in my room, I'd just stomp around with my poor feet just shoved into those tiny shoes. This…
  • Probably extraordinarily rare but it definitely happens: http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jan/14/local/me-water14
  • Thank you for sharing! This post has motivated me to try this. I'm not used to protein powders and hoping that I can mix a small amount in with oatmeal without a weird taste.
  • MerryLow, please try this group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1140-300 If you join, you should find much individual support there and be surrounded by people who can relate and will support you when you're down on yourself.
  • Bumping for more input (added: & support) for original poster; MerryLow in a rough place. thanks.
  • I am more afraid of staying the same than I am of failing, so the pain of the first part is higher for me than the latter. That internal force pushes me to keep going. Winston Churchill said (something like) a success is experiencing failure after failure without losing your enthusiasm; sometimes the enthusiasm feels like…
  • Bumping for you... The body image in your mind might just take time and some self-love, but if you are really uncomfortable and hungry that could be what's keeping you from enjoying the incredible things you achieved. Is it possible that you are at a point where you can lift the restriction just a bit, maybe increase your…
  • You are in the RIGHT place. Please read this post from TheGoblinRoad last week: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/476684-you-can-do-this "You CAN do this Just wanted to say to all of you here on MFP: I bet that a lot of you, like me, have attempted to get healthy many times before. We've succeeded and failed,…
  • I have to say I have this almost every time I go on the treadmill. I can do 5 miles with Leslie Sansone DVDs or walking outdoors without the issues, but with the treadmill it's different. For me, I think I'm walking awkwardly or overcompensating somehow on the treadmill.
  • I think your anecdote is terrific. It is a wonderful example of a lifestyle that is not focused on restricting but restructuring, and totally sustainable. Thanks for the uplift!
  • The way I see it, a lot of people spend their time feeling depressed about what they aren't eating when trying to change habits, so I tell myself that logging everything is far better than staring sadly at the pantry or eating well but feeling sorry for myself; in the past those things led me to give up. Oh, and to…
  • You look truly amazing - congratulations on your hard work! Your progress is so inspiring. When you say 2500 calories, do you mean per day (1100+ over your intake)?
