Hmmm.... Seems to be a huge variety of cereals which haven't made it to the UK - probably a good thing, on the whole, judging by their names, lol!

25?

Excellent advice :)

If there are small children invited you could offer to help with them - they will keep you so busy that you don't have as much time to eat, and in my experience they usually want to leave the table early, so you can go and play with them in another room!

I just bought this from Amazon (one of their Black Friday deals yesterday) - really looking forward to giving it a go!
-
And... they've probably all gone now!
-
Exactly - the great thing is that we're all running and enjoying it!

Not all allergies can be explained away - my kids played outside all the time when they were younger and yet my son has a serious food allergy - if you could see my house you'll know I don't have it super clean, so sometimes you can't blame anyone or find a convenient reason to explain it away.
-
I love to run outside because it's free, always available and you get fresh air and (where I live) beautiful scenery to enjoy as you run :):)

I love ismoothrun - it's only available for the iphone so they've put a lot of effort into optimising it for that system. Endomondo's good too, and syncs with mfp which is fun. I do find the calorie amounts burned on both are off without using a HRM, but I think that's the same for any app. They both do all you want and…

It's very unlikely that my 3 year old son was imagining his anaphylactic reaction to a cashew nut. Perhaps people should use the definition of anaphylaxis to describe a life-threatening allergy, instead of 'allergy' which seems to be misunderstood nowadays. Edited to add: we've never had an over-santised environment, and…

I love reading all these - well done, everyone! I still love that the winter jacket I bought a year ago in the sales which I couldn't zip up because it was too small (I bought it in the desperate hope it would help motivate me to lose weight) is actually too loose on me with a fleece jacket on underneath!! Everytime I wear…

I drink loads of Twinings Decaff Earl Grey with a little skimmed milk - love it :)

Absolutely, and as a parent I am fully aware of my responsibilities :) As I said, we assess the risks and do what we can. It is the responsibility of the restaurant to adhere to their own standards and where their own websites and allergy information data are provided they should be accurate and trustworthy.

Just wanted to comment in this as my son has a serious allergy. Although I would LOVE it if I felt I could trust any restaurant/fast food outlet to serve their food in a way that doesn't endanger him, basically over the last few years I've come to accept that they don't really care much about that, to be honest. Mostly we…

Very glad to hear that!

Crisps (potato chips to those of you in the US) - can't stop at just a few, so I really have to avoid them all together for now :(
-
Interesting......will have a look again on Monday when I go for my run :)
-
I've just discovered this - what a great idea!!

"You look like Grandma" - from my son..... (He's 12)

Hi - great to meet you both - welcome to mfp, you'll find it a friendly place and a great help to losing the weight and becoming fitter and healthier - feel free to add me if you want more friends x

The only person I know personally who drives an automatic by choice is my 83 year old father-in-law, because of his strength and health, but right up until a couple of years ago he was driving manual.
-
I'm exactly the same - you could say that we drive a manual transmission on automatic ;)
-
And keep my left foot passed down on the clutch to avoid stalling :)
-
Yep - agree with the above, it would have been weird here to learn to drive in an automatic! I don't like driving automatic anyway - it feels like you have a lot less control over the car.

The day after we got engaged, we went shopping for the engagement ring together - it was a joint choice :)

This is a very emotive topic for me and obviously some others here so I just feel I have to respond once more before switching off the computer and going to bed. All I can say is, why is it such a bad thing for some people to be unselfish and slightly inconvenienced for the sake of another child's safety? If my child's…

As a mother to a chid with a medically proven and experienced anaphylactic allergy to nuts, I hate that the word allergy is bandied about inaccurately so much by people and confused with intolerance. It makes people in restaurants/shops etc take us less seriously and even doubt the importance of our questions about the…

You're amazing - well done!
-
Totally agree - there's room for both in my life :)
