  • Charles Poliquin (Google him if you don't know) says you should have low carb at breakfast an higher carb later in the day. The reasoning is that carbs increase production of serotonin, so it makes sense to be sleepy in the evening instead of the morning. Try steak and nuts (only) for breakfast - you'll see...
  • If you want more protein in your diet, I would suggest getting it from whole foods first. More chicken, eggs, beef etc. if you decide to go down the protein powder route, remember it should be used as a 'supplement', once or twice a day is plenty. I like Maxiraw, myprotein, and bulk powders for cheaper brands in the uk. If…
  • You're definitely doing it wrong! hahaha
  • Insanity is AWESOME but killer hard! I have the utmost respect for anyone that can finish it. (I finished it just over a month ago)
  • I think it depends entirely on food quality and workout regimen. If you diet +400 kcal is made up of processed foods, you'll gain more body fat. If it is made up of all the good wholesome stuff, expect more muscle. Also, whilst on a bulk, I find it advisable to do moderate amounts of cardio, or even HIIT sessions. This…
  • Although many think of lifting weights as a masculine activity, many women have discovered the numerous benefits and the health improvements that come with regular strength training. Benefits come to anybody who participates in strength training, but adult women have an additional motivation specific to their health needs…
  • Just crack on with month 2, go at your own pace. FWIW, I didn't make it through ANY month 1 workout without an unscheduled break. But then, if you pay attention, neither does Shaun T or any of the Insanity team on screen. Month 2 is a massive step up, but the change of routine is great to keep it fresh!
  • Good luck Megan, I am currently in month 2. My advice, get some cross trainers or basketball shoes. Running shoes won't cut it as they don't offer lateral support. I suffered a lot of pain before my purchase. Don't be to concerned at keeping up with the pace they set on the screen, go at your own pace. It is much more…
  • I recently bought one for my wife called pulse sonic, it was £9.99 from eBay. It even does calories burnt. We compared it to my polar and its pretty accurate!
  • Google 'insanity workout', follow for 60ish days, then come back and tell us what you think!
  • That^^^ will be going on my facebook, thank you
  • Split sets, so chest, biceps and core last night. I train with a partner so whilst I lift, he spots, then visa versa. 3 sets of 10 reps or failure. Lower weights and using correct form. I want to look great but Im gonna do it properly. Incline dumbell press Barbell curl Swiss ball crunches Flat dumbell press Hammer curl…
  • Yep I use endomondo, and more recently Adidas micoach for running. When I compare my outdoor (Endo tracked) workouts to my indoor (Gym with calorie measuring kit), I find them to be very similar. Hope this helps :-)
  • Thanks for all the positive replies people, I knew I'd find the like minded crowd on here. My counter-argument for the haters is usually 'I'm addicted to being the best I can be, it could be worse, I could be hooked on Crack!' Gets some funny looks that one!
  • I don't think programs like Supersize vs Superskinny do us any favours, although the premise of the programme is a great idea, I think it turns a lot of people into thinking that anyone striving to live healthily must be anorexic or bulemic or have some other eating disorder. I miss living in Australia, over there I found…
