I normally focus on body fat not BMI. Easier to do when weightlifting is a priority. Those heavy weights will burn fat off quickly. Triathlon season puts weightlifting on the back burner. Only lift once a week instead of 3. Cardio burns too much of my booty away. There is a happy medium in there somewhere. I'll find it…

Yes. I'm muscular. My gap "1969" jeans are a size 27. I can fit my hand inside when they are zipped up. Old navy size 4 Most of my work clothes are from Ann Taylor. Dress/skirts I can even get into size 2. I was 149 on Jan31. I was 154 this morning. 160 is overweight for BMI. My "whine" is simply that. I haven't worked out…

I've worked nights for the better part of 20 years. I eat my meals at normal times. Only snacks, protein drinks and water during the night.

I'd say expect a slight gain when it all settles. Nothing major, 5-10 pounds.... Unless you are living perfect, it's kinda hard to avoid. But overall congrats are in order!! If you are satisfied with how you currently look & feel don't worry about BMI. I'm guessing your Dr is/would be happy with the 30 pound loss. You…

Yep. I like to think it helps to sweat toxins out... I like to put "scrub mask" on and sit for a few minutes. Hydration before & after is essential

I started 5x5 at 280 pounds. I credit it and other accessory weight lifting with getting me down to current size 4. Muscle building burns off fat more efficiently than cardio. It's less impact as well. My knees and back are much stronger. In past year I've gained 20 back... I blame that on me stopping weight lifting.…

Maintenance was harder to keep up with than weight loss mode.

Im the exact height as the OP and we have the same goals....Im currently 144-ish...Im actually OK with my current pant/dress size... my remaining pouinds to lose are for vanity sake....

if you've gained muscle....your scale would go up but your clothes would be looser....

ahhhh its over a year later... I got as low as 141....Im 145-ish....was 144.6 yesterday... my weight has pretty much been stable here for the past year....Id still like to hit that 140 even if just for a day...honestly, I like the weight I am, love the way my clothes fit.... I could still use some tightening up.... I…

I'm back to starting from scratch.... I could probably lift heavier but ehhhhh..... my focus will be lifting 3 times a week..... my goal ( will not be attained in one month) is to finally do Unassisted pull-ups
-
not impossible... the bigger you are, the easier it comes off initially.... when I was nearly 300 pounds, I lost 1- 1.5 pounds a day when I first began to work out.... it eventually leveled off and the closer I got to normal BMI, losing a half pound a week became difficult....

you don't have to change how much or how often you exercise.... you may need to change intensity... or you may not have to change anything at all.... it still depends on how much other activity you get...how many calories you consume... and your resting BMR.....
-
sadly this has been my experience with trainers as well.... they want to sell me on their program... do it their way... eat what THEY say eat... when I simply want to know if I have proper form... what I have been doing lately is going to a class like BodyPump and asking the instructor if my form is proper on a particular…

wow...I relate to MUCH of your story.. I too was the skinny girl in HS... then became the BIG girl 10+ years later.... I am once again the skinny girl but more importantly, the HAPPY girl... CONGRATS to you & much continued success

my BMI is 21 but I still have more BF than I'd like.... so I have long term goals of another 5-10 pounds off the scale which would include an increase of lean muscle.... you'll know when to stop ( unless you have an eating disorder or body image issues) because you'll love how you look naked!! you'll love how you look in…

I wanted 19 BMI and may even get there when I get back to training ( had surgery 2 weeks ago).. but I will say Im kinda OK with how my body looks now and think 19 maynot look so good on my middle-aged body

the fresh fruit cant hurt but just plain water is enough of a "detox".... the body detoxes everytime you take a bath (via pores) and/or flush the toilet...nuf said

Im leaving next week for a party cruise for 10 days.... and I plan to PARTY and DRINK and EAT and PARTY and DRINK and DRINK and EAT and PARTY... Im not logging a single calorie or exercise.... I'll deal with the consequences, if any, when I get back.... the last party cruise, I came home down almost 6 pounds....lots of…

nope...at 135 pounds, in my former life, I was a perfect hourglass.... with a bout of obesity & now weight-loss, Im nearly the same weight again but this time I am a pear, leaning towards being a straight boy... up & down, rail thin & lost most of my curves...

at 5'7", 182 pounds is still overweight...and though BMI isnt a HUGE indicator of health, the fact that you have MS, I doubt if the extra weight is LEAN MUSCLE... thus LOSE MORE WEIGHT by GETTING STRONGER!! your health & mobility literally depend on it
-
a friend of mine GAINED 17 pounds and is the same dress size and her jeans are actually looser... MUSCLE over FAT !! She lost FAT but GAINED more weight in MUSCLE.... muscle takes up less room by volume...thus the resulting lack of change in clothing size
