Red Mill Rolled or steel cut Oats, Sccop of unfalvored protein poweder and 1 oucne of walnuts. Great breakfast with almost zero sodium, no bad fats at all and lots of fiber. Great way to start the day!

Well I'm going to say the exact same thing as the prior poster. Pilates is great for the core and many of their excercises hit the lower abs. AND you can't spot reduce. Keep losing fat and your waist will go down. But if your waist is your most stubborn area it will be the last to go. Mine was but after over 60 pounds I'm…

Just back from 2 weeks in Australia and boy is Gluten Free all over Down Under! I've been pretty much Gluten Free for several years and it's been very beneficial. Not only has it gotten me from eating so much processed foods it has also really helped me reduce my overall inflamation and decrease allot of aches and pains.…

Hi there...as a 54 year old guy who worksout quite a bit perhaps I can help. I've worked with 3 different nutritionists over the years and quite a few trainers. One thing they all agreed on is that I need to ingest protein within 30 minutes after the end of a workout. so I started to bring a really good protein powder to…

I have old injuries on my right ankle, left knee and lower back. Treadmill hurts these and makes it tough to do it daily. Ellipitcal has no pounding and I can do it everyday and have done that now for a few months and I'm hooked. So Ellipitcal if you have any injuries as it is much smoother with no pounding on your joints.

M 54 5'9" 267 215 (but actually around 205 now and working towards 195) since April 1, 2012 started at 2300 and has dropped now to 1750 yes yes somewhat

Hi there...I was diagnosed with Atrial Flutter earlier this year and put on medication to control it which made me feel lousy and then stopped working. So in October I ended up doing a Heart Ablation procedure. During this whole thing I was also very frustrated with the cardiologist becuase I was not getting clear…

Very inspiring especialy working through the foot injury! Great job!!

Hi There....Not sure if my advice will work for you but I've had a somewhat similiar journey in 2012 as I got serious in April when I weighed 267 pounds and my primary excercise was heavy lifting. My best lifts were bench press (110 lb dumbells in each hand for incline press), 140 lb skull crushers for triceps and 215 lb…

BMI measurements will always be the same. It looks at your height and weight and does a calcualtion which gives you a #. I don't like BMI as it doesn't account for having more muscle then a normal person. You can have a overweight BMI even with low body fat if you have allot of muscle. Or you can have a low BMI but be…

Best thing you could do is go to your Doctor and get a Stress Test. Basiclly an EKG while your walking/running on a treadmill. This will tell you close to 99.99 precent if you are having any issues. More then likely it's just your normal (everyone is different) but a stress test and possible echo cardiogram (they ultra…

One Note..have you gone through the Setup on your Heart Rate Monitor? Meaning did you tell it your weight, age, sex, etc? It uses weight and sex to figure out the calories. So if it has you as a male that weighs allot more then you do it will over estimate your caloires. Yes it drives it off of your HR but weight and sex…

sorry to hear that the folks in the gym were so rude! But one comment I have is a 9 year old is way to young to be in a gym let alone the weight lifting area. I'm actually very surprised the gym let you bring him in. I know at my gym the age limit is 16 years old and I can't think of when I've seen anyone that young in the…

http://www.fitbit.com/user/23C4QT love my fit bit and use it always (except for today when I went for my walk and elliptical and my fit bit was on my other sweats). :(

Funny I just saw this topic as I just got done pre logging my dinner tonight. Heading out to a big Steak and Red Wine dinner with some good friends and I've been eating a bit light today to try and give myself enough calories. So I thought I would look up the menu on line and then log my dinner. Good thing! If I had not…

As someone who has had 2 DXA Scans (in July when I weighed 245lbs, and then again in November at 215 lbs) I highly recommend it. I bought a 3 pack of scans so that helped to reduce the price ($135 for 3 vs $80 each). Before doing the 2nd scan I had set my weight goal at 215lbs but the scan showed areas of heavy fat…

One thing you can try is get solid Dark Chocolate of either 70% cacoa or higher. Dark Choclate is lower in sugar and has many very healthy things in it. Also darker choclate is strong and can be bitter so I don't find myself eating nearly as much as I do with Milk Chocolate. Good Luck!

Hi There... My top advice is to be patient! I started MFP in February and by April I had gained 6 pounds. :( but then I got serious and really worked hard to log everything and I found the more accurate I was with logging the more I saw areas I needed to clean up (eliminate bananas, butter, nuts and crackers) and eat more…

Everything in Pizza is Gluten Free except the crust. So you need to go with Corn Meal or Potator or Rice flour to make the crust. However talk with your local Pizza stores. There are some here that sell Gluten free pizza. Of course the crust is really different but it has all the sauce, cheese and meat that you like. Good…

Oatmeal is great but it's a bit low in protein and healthy fat. So I put in a scoop of unflavored whey protein and then add an ounce of walnuts. Makes it a bit more balanced meal and the walnuts impove the flavor for me quite a bit.

Yep...perfect reply. Also look into getting a DXA Scan. Costs about $85 but it's super accurate way to test your body fat % and has the added benefit of also letting you know how your bone density is doing. Lifting Weights will increase your muscle weight which will decrease your body fat % even if you don't lose fat but…

MFP has a great app for either the Apple iPhone or Android. So I log my food while standing in lines, elevators, eating lunch. Pretty much anywhere.

Just adding my 2 cents..yes you get used to eating more. I'm injured right now and can't do my lifting or hard cardio. All I can do is walking. So I'm walking ALLOT and at the same time tightened up my diet. Still losing weight but I am much more concious right now of how much I can eat. But I do notice I'm not as hungry…

A couple of suggestions that you could try and perhaps a piece of advice.. #1 - Don't train the entire body each time. Do upper body one day and then lower body at your next lifiting session. This will give you more time to recover #2 - Over time reduce your reps but increase the weight. Muscles adapt but increasing weight…

Yep on beta blockers for 3 months and also a drug that supresses the electrical system in the heart and a blood thinner. But goal is I can get rid of all these in 3 months after everything has healed up. Thanks for your suggestions and I'll continue to talk with Medical professionals until I can get a good answer. I think…

I was at a friends afternoon party yesterday and saw a 3 year old with an iPad. They had a large rubber case around it. He was playing chess, drawing with it and learning the alphabet. It was amazing all the applications for small kids that was on there. I was really impressed at what a learning tool this could be. It's so…

add a really good non flavored protein powder to it. This helps to thicken it up and also adds protein which will help to have the carbs absorb even slower.

I am going to say NO. At least not for me. I strongly believe that Calories are very different in how they trigger responses in your body. For me High Carb foods make me tired and crave more high carb foods. So I eat more and workout less. Fast foods are loaded with sodium and chemicals that make me retain water and feel…
