You had a lot of things invested in your old self - including all the time spent worrying about your image and how you dressed every day. It's expected that you are going to have difficulty getting rid of clothes that no longer fit. It's part of the journey - and a great problem to have to accept and overcome. 40 lbs is an…

You know, I've been surprised how great some of those "healthy" options have been since changing my eating habits.

Put my jeans on this morning and noticed I didn't struggle to button them up. That feeling never gets old.

One difficulty is leaving your controlled eating environment (home) and going away with friends for the weekend. Everyone is on vacation and I have to be self-controlled and watch carefully what I decide to eat. Adulting is hard.

Knowing that the temp will always change, but results will be life altering.

I can relate to the pants comment. I knew it was time for a change when I was uncomfortable in my "large" pants. Slimming down has been helpful in this department. Looking forward to making these Jeans my "big" jeans again.

The moment when you walk out in the freezing cold to go to your garage to work out because the temp is only temporary. Results can be life changing.

 This is amazing. Congrats!

Yep, being hungry is a feeling that's hard to get use to, but it's intentional and good for you. Training yourself to pay attention and then not over-eat is a huge obstacle but very rewarding.
-
Yes, to GET healthy is one means - but to STAY healthy is also the enduring challenge.
-
Yeah, that's a tough one.
-
Saying no to delicious meals because the value of your goal is greater than the immediate reward of something tasty.

That moment when you realize that reasonably portioned meal is indeed enough.

These are so great! Keep letting me know about your moments!

This is such a great board. Anyone have any new moments they want to share?

Confession: I took a few months off (Xmas, New Years) and gained a bit. The holidays are the worst for me - but I've found a new sense of motivation. First, my fitness tracking through Garmin Vivoactive. It's not perfect, but it works for me. It does calculate the Indoor Cycling I have been doing, and bases it primarily…

I would agree that Exercise is easier than food choices. It's WAY to hard to avoid it all the time and as I read the blogs from others, food is a tough battle. There is a lot of emphasis in our culture about eating (especially social eating). So when you go make a change, you have to be particular about it.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday and we ended up going out to eat to celebrate. She chose Macaroni Grill and as soon as I found out, I went to work figuring out what the calorie count was on their menu. Surprisingly all this information is available, so I was able to make an informed decision before I went to the…

Sounds like a solid start. I'm really excited for the Spring when I can get back on my bike!
-
Don't have the equipment available to lift - but I will in March.
-
I would totally do that if I could - but it is just not in the cards for my situation.

I'm currently on the last week of Month One of Insanity. I've done this routine a few times in the past (2011, 2012) and now I've come back because I was much happier healthy (and skinny) than I am now. I'd be happy to track along with you and motivate. You'll be amazed at how quickly your endurance shoots up with…

There is no better moment then right now to make it right. Start a-new and move forward. It doesn't start over at mid-night. It starts now.
-
Yes, I rarely rest unless I'm traveling, and I'm usually going nuts.
-
Remember that nothing is out of the question when counting calories. When I want to eat something that's usually 'off the radar' - say, McDonalds - I go for an extra run, bike ride, Insanity Workout, etc. DO SOMETHING to get those calories back and then go easy before and after that meal on that day. You can actually go to…

Always.

I had the problem. Take up biking. I've lost 30 lbs in 4 months biking 4 times a week for about an hour a shot.

That moment when the post-workout body (beginning to see abs/definition) becomes your motivation every day to get back at it again tomorrow to see it again. If I'm smart, I GET TO KEEP THESE!
