Make the Choice - Take Control!
My wife and I watched a show last night about Obesity and they mentioned that over the next 6 years, those of us who lose weight are more likely to put it back. They said there is a small, rare few who actually are able to make the permanent change. It's because dieting/weight loss/fitness is not a phase of our life; it is…

Changing, but not changing
So I've done this "losing weight" thing before - twice, actually. Both times I reached my lowest weight, I usually follow with a year of crashing and burning - gaining everything back and feeling horrible - leading to poor attitudes and depression. So this time I'm changing my approach. I've read a lot about how gaining…

Dealing with Discouragement
It's hard to believe that anyone, in this day and age, who is trying to live a healthier lifestyle would feel discouraged or be discouraged, especially from friends or family - but it does happen. It's terrible to admit, but sometimes people say the wrong thing - sometimes without knowing it. This has happened to me before…

Logging Everything or only Intentional Workouts?
Are you the type of person who logs every activity they do during the day? I tried this a few years back, putting in everything from Cleaning the house to my Insanity workouts. I found that my calorie count was way off. I then switched to only putting intentional workouts into FitnessPal and results seemed to be more…

Here's The Plan
Ok! So I'm back to Dieting and Exercising. The major reason is that my wife and (baby) daughter deserve to have a healthy leader in the home, PLUS I was way happier and positive when I weighed about 20 pounds less. I was reading through some of the posts I had in this community two years ago when I was 20% lighter and how…

A Problem
This month has been a train wreck on every level and I need to ask some opinions on what I should do. As it stands right now, I get about 6 hours of sleep. I go to bed at 11 and wake up around 5 or 6 - depending on the day. Every day I get more and more tired as the hours roll on. I work as a pest control guy - carrying…

Biking Question
So, I love biking. Last year I started biking to a job I had that took me 40 minutes to get to. I now work a lot further away - but I am really tempted to bike there too. It would take me 3 hours. Thoughts?

Insanity (Literally)
What a crazy morning. My alarm went off at 4:45 and I was up at 5 to try my first workout with Sean T & his Insanity DVD's. Summery: It was brutal. Seriously, I spent 1/3 of the time trying not to throw up or pass out. He kept telling me to drink water, and I found that it was good for a few sips, but then when I really…

Goal Reached. Now what to do from here...?
This morning, after about 5 months of this FitnessPal and some serious workout time, I reached my goal. It's a great feeling to be so much lighter then I was at the beginning of the year. I seriously doubted that I could make it. Now I have been doing Insanity for almost a week and a half. Today actually would be that…

Biking Challenge - 1 mth, 150 miles
So on my ride to work this morning, I was thinking that maybe I'd challenge myself to bike more then 150 miles this month. At first, it sounds crazy, but I actually think it's easily obtainable. If it proves to be too easy, I'll up the challenge next month. Anyone want to join me on this one?

The Might of Encouragement: A Commission of Hope
I've been feeling really good about being the weight that I have lost over the past year. It's been a long time since I've been comfortable in my own skin. It's been several years since I have weighed this little - and now I am on a mission to encourage you in your goals. The basic foundation is that this world is so…

Almost there!
I have been working at this goal since mid-April and as of today, I am only 4 pounds away from my goal. I'm so excited that I'm literally bursting at the seams. I haven't weighed this little since elementary school! I couldn't be more proud of myself. Now for the million dollar question. When I get down to my ideal weight,…

Grumper Pants
For the past several months that I have been working on this weight of mine, I have noticed that I get annoyed/frustrated easily with life. Perhaps it's the job, perhaps it's my life situation or stage, but I find that I am easily annoyed and typically it is about stupid things that I use to just let roll off. I use to be…

Sugars
What is the deal with the sugars on this thing? I can keep to my calories and I can handle my Sodium intake, but the recommended sugars are so low that after some coffee with two teaspoons of creamer and my bran flakes with Milk, I am already maxed out first thing in the morning. Anyone else having this issue?
