  • To answer your last question: Yes, I do have fear of starting again, or something new. I would suggest using the Couch to 5k program to get back into running. It definitely helps me to have a structured plan of running instead of trying to run and maybe wearing myself out and hating it more. I wish I had a treadmill at…
  • I'm in, too! I like that it's two simple challenges.
  • Well, James, it really could be a number of things: not tracking and eating over calories, something you ate, more sodium than usual, etc... I wouldn't say that you gained three pounds overnight so don't let it get to you. In my case, being a female means that my weight changes from day to day, and through out the month.…
  • Yes I would love to have weekly challenges! I went back and read some of the previous challenges and wondered why I didn't participate? James - It's nice to digitally "meet" you! Hope you stay a while. Today I should have gone for a walk since the weather was so nice, but instead I stayed inside, got some laundry done, and…
  • Could the problem be mixed with their resentment for you being the stepmom, and/or having the divorce/seperation? I am not a stepmom to young children, and my skiddos are good eaters, so I can't help with the picky eater thing. I can say that resentment comes in many forms and their father needs to make sure they…
  • Ok, I'll go first... Today was my first day of running since October and I quickly realized that I never should have stopped running. I started again with the first day of the C25k program. It wasn't too bad to get through 60 seconds of running at a time, but I could tell that anymore than two minutes of nonstop running…
  • Yep, still here and ready to undo the damage.
  • I feel the same way! I do believe it's way to hard to start over during the holidays and maybe we need that time to be miserable with ourselves, too. It kind of kicks us into gear. I wrote about my experiences here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/WhiteCloud9/view/2012-reflections-and-2013-goals-461368 Good luck to you…

  • I'm afraid of anything with the word "marathon" but I'm hoping to participate in a 5k. You and I both have a running goal for April so we can keep each other motivated!
  • My plan is to allow myself a little of what I want to eat (i.e., sweets) and drink at least the recommended eight glasses of water each day. Since my diet and exercise was already poor I don't think any more of a plan is going to be followed for a while.
  • Good to see everyone! I know we're all busy at this time of year. I was hoping to begin workouts again last week but I ended up being busier than I thought. I only have a few stocking stuffers left to buy, plus groceries, and then I'm done. I won't have more free time after Christmas is done because my stepsons will be…
  • Running without stopping for 1 1/2 miles is a victory! Who cares if it was all downhill? Take pride in what you've accomplished so far and keep pushing forward! Good luck!
  • Thank you for the support! I'm going to start using the C25k program again because it worked so well for me before and I'm hoping my muscle memory will come back also! P.S. I would like to have a few more friends that are doing this program so feel free to add me. Just tell me in the message section that you met me in this…
  • I'm not a newbie but didn't get to finish Stage 1 due to a back injury. Anyone is free to add me since I need a few more lady lifter friends too! ~Amanda
  • Hi all! I am introducing myself for the first time to this group (I think, because I can't find where I did so before so...) I found out about NROL4W early this past summer, bought the book, and fell in love with the workouts. I was already running and strength training but felt like I was on a plateau. I already loved…
  • I grew up in Georgia and we were taught to always say Ma'am and Sir to all of the adults. I still do this to people of all ages as a form of respect, but it wasn't until I moved to Colorado that people got mad at me when I said it. Don't let it make you feel old!
  • I'm 33, and married for my first time to a man 12 years older, who has teenagers. I never felt old until I became a stepmom to teenagers! The exact moment I realized that I'm "old" to these kids happened during this coversation... **All of us are in the car listening to Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger," and the 18 year old…
  • I'll have to try the Parmesan Lemon Tilapia. I found a recipe on AllRecipes.com for Blackened Red Snapper that worked well for tilapia.
  • Bump for ideas! I know this isn't the healthiest meal but I made Zatarain's Dirty Rice with ground turkey. Both my husband and I thought it tasted better with turkey than beef!
  • Bump for recipes.
  • I can't wait to try the Cake Batter! Thanks for the info :))
  • Bump for the awesome list!
  • Don't drink coffee because it will put hair on your chest! My sisters and I loved to eat raw potatoes and we could beg my Mom to let us have some when she was cooking. She would give each of us one piece and tell us that anymore than that would put worms in our stomach.
  • I forgot to also add that I would like to have more pals that are heavy lifters and EM2WL. I have some good pals already but they are eating very little and exercising a lot, thus netting very low. We all have the same goal but it would be great to have more pals that want to reach their goals in the same way that I do.…
  • Same directions except hubby and I love them with cajun seasoning! For an extra spicy kick use creole seasoning.
  • This sounds tasty! Thanks, LinaBo, for the tip on the nutmeg!
  • I have found that taking probiotics everyday has been a lifesaver! I take GNC's Super Probiotic Complex 10 billion CFU. Right now I'm having more trouble than usual with my stomach due to an ovarian cyst that won't go away, which is the second time I've had one. Last time was causing the same problems. Before the cyst came…
  • So true! But there are still some really gross people in the military, too.
