Just remembered that I am out of computer/cell phone range (hopefully up a mountain) from 4-6 Feb. So if that's a problem I should pull out. I will be doing lots of walking with lots of 'up' bits though!

Meditation can be helpful in cases where a lot of emotions or internal mental 'chatter' is causing a problem. It helps to train you to watch your emotions more objectively - observe them, recognise them, but with no pressure to 'fix' them or 'overcome' them - just observe them rather than engage with them. So your mental…

Yep I'm keen, any team is fine

Agreed, and mung beans too

I'm exploring ways of bringing my food budget down too - I'm working so I could spend more, but I'm just interested in seeing how it's possible to eat well for less. Cheap carbs: rice, couscous (easy too and lasts forever). Making your own pasta is cheap and easy too (takes some time, but not heaps). Tortillas are cheap…

Like another on this page I find a smaller plate helps. There's some area of Japan, Okinawa maybe, where people say 'eat until you're eighty percent full' - I find that helpful too. But crikey, I do struggle with not picking up that extra piece of pizza...

Slow and steady wins the race. I find the same applies to saving money: if I try to save too much too fast, I run out of money and have to dip into savings and my balance actually drops. If I save at a slow and steady pace, even if it's not fun to watch, the dollars rising rapidly, I don't have to dip into savings and a…

Yeah I lost 10 kg and recently put 2 of them back again, so must have rolled in some of the same poop! Don't want to return to old ways so started logging again. Fell off the exercise wagon too but it is spring now and days are longer, so no excuses for not going for the odd jog a few nights a week. I'm with you!

Who knew Canada had such interesting national dishes! Poutine looks like the perfect on-way-home-from-pub meal.
-
Mmmmm... fush and chups..... now I want some for lunch!
-
New Zealand. So pavlova would be the national dish (that should bring out the Aussies... ) I have never made a satisfactory pav. Or hangi I guess (delicious), but that's a bit of a performance - build fire, heat stones, dig hole, wrap and bury food, wait a few hours, dig up... quicker just to go out and get a pie.

Weight loss can be a long haul - setting too high a goal can mean you give up if you don't get the results you were hoping for. But you (and most likely others) will start noticing a difference well before your goal weight. Even if lose 10 pounds you'll look and feel different - enough to feel great at the wedding, and…

stephenpuk's ideas are great. Also I love kedgeree. Calorific but if you only have a little, all food groups represented.

I aim for 300-400 calories for breakfast (I'm supposed to eat 1340 per day). I try to get a balance more or less of protein, fats, and carbs. So my faves are: Sardines on toast! You either love it or hate it. I love it Homemade (only cos you get to choose what goes in it and have your own magical formula) muesli with Greek…

Don't give up! You're in the right place. I agree with other people here who have commented that your diary could have more nutrients in it - foods that help you feel satisfied for longer so you're less likely to eat snack food, and provide good nutrition. I'd recommend more 'grunty' foods like beans, chickpeas, lentils,…

Maybe you could make 'clean' versions of the fast food you love: home made burgers don't have to be calorific, but are delicious. Home made pizza too - it's not too hard to make the dough, or you could use packaged bases for a quick meal. Or make your own potato chips coated in herbs/spices and baked with a small amount of…

Tuna is a great idea too. On toast!

I like the chick pea idea mentioned earlier. A lemon, some olive oil, salt and pepper and you have a basic dressing to go with them. Have with some salad leaves and that would be great.

Was that recent? The clowns are scarier for me
