  • If you are within your calorie goal then you will lose weight regardless of the amount of carbs, protein, fat or fibre. A high fibre intake is great provided you drink plenty of fluids. I've been gradually increasing mine and finding I suffer from time to time with constipation. Good luck with your weight loss.
  • Somebody on here posted a recipe for banana pancakes which I have tried a few times and they really do keep you full, are tasty (if you like bananas that is!) and are high in protein. The recipe was as follows, makes 1 pancake: 1/2 a medium sized banana, well and truly mashed. 2 large egg whites. Pinch of cinnamon. Mix the…
  • The key to making a sucess of your change in diet is not to restrict yourself. If you like Chocolate/candy then make sure you plan some into your food diary either everyday or every other day. If you deny yourself something that you have previously loved then you only start to obsess about that one particular food and that…
  • My go to quick and easy recipe is as follows: Finely chop up half an onion. Chop up a few chestnut mushrooms (as small as you can). Mince 2 cloves of garlic. Cut three rashers of good dry cured streaky bacon into small pieces. Put the bacon in a non stick pan of a moderate heat and cook until oil comes out and bacon starts…
  • Yummy! Not quite BBQ season here in the UK but not far away.
  • I love Venison! It's hard to say whether there would be much of a difference between the Tesco one and the Butcher's one. A butcher worth his salt will tell you what has gone into his burger. You could always ask and see if he is willing to tell, especially if you explain why you want to know, if he thinks you will buy his…
  • I try not to worry about the natural sugars in fruits, just the added sugars in processed foods.
  • I eat plenty of fruit rich in Vit C, so oranges etc. I also tend to drink a Manuka Honey mix, basically a teaspoon of active Manuka Honey, a squeeze of lemon and warm, not hot, water. Manuka Honey is expensive but well worth buying, it keeps forever in your cupboard and is great for many ailments, including as a wound…
  • I don't look at sugars on MFP, most of my sugar intake is from fruit, not processed or added sugars, my body needs that fruit so why start worrying about the sugar it contains. If you are within your calories even when eating lots of fruits and so having a high sugar intake on MFP you will still lose weight.
  • If there is an organic option then I always buy it. Although not 100% pesticide free Organic vegetable growers do use fewer pesticides and the use of them is better regulated, this can only be better for us and the environment in the long run. I struggle to find Organic meat, you can usually get Organic chicken breasts but…
  • I've been losing 2 lbs every week but I cannot say whether that's because of the varied calorie intake or not as I haven't plateau'd yet. Will be interesting to see what others say.
  • Not sure what you mean by zig zagging but I vary my intake daily, some days very low and some days very high. I don't like to stick to a set limit everyday as I worry that my body will get used to it. I like to keep it on it's toes.
  • If you have a spiralizer you could try courgette spaghetti. I had one and a half courgettes spiralized to make spaghetti tonight with 3 slices of diced dry cured streaky bacon, half a diced onion, 2 cloves of garlic, chopped mushrooms and passata cooked up to make a pasta sauce. Only 220 calories and very very filling,…
  • Hi. I roughly split my calories evenly between three meals and leave a little room for an afternoon or bedtime snack. My day goes as follows: Breakfast @ 7.00 a.m. (300 calories) Lunch @ 12.00 p.m. (350 calories) Afternoon Snack @ 3.30 p.m. (100 calories) Dinner @ 7.00 p.m. (300 calories) Evening Snack @ 9.00 p.m. (50-100…
  • The only yoghurt I really enjoy is Rachel's Organic Low Fat Bio Live Vanilla. It is high in sugar but so creamy and tasty, it's my daily treat with some fresh berries.
  • It depends how miserable you want to be for the next three months. I lost 30 lbs in four months through a healthy diet and walking. I wouldn't want to have tried any harder, as it happens I enjoyed the last four months. I'm 5 foot 3.5 inches.
  • My baked, stuffed, aubergine :)
  • I always have dinner, even when not hungry, otherwise my calorie intake for the day would be too low. I try to have three meals of similar calories during the day plus an afternoon snack. I don't have 2 small meals and a large dinner.

  • You're right you are well under calories some days and there is a real lack of fresh fruit and veg in your diet. Fruit is easy, just snack on an apple a day and try buying some different fruits that you've never tried before. Maybe one new one a week to start. I enjoy Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries (about 80g of…
  • Champion are the best but aren't affordable for those of us on a budget! I bought a £75 Phillips one after going away for a two week juice fast a year ago but it isn't very good, you get a lot of fruit or veg in the pulp bucket. I'm not sure if any of the lower price ones are any good so I'll see if anyone else come sin…
  • I have an Organic Bio yoghurt most days. I 'think' I get a good mix of soluble and insoluble fibre, I basically try to keep my diet as varied as possible but it is low in fat most of the time. Will look into that. Thanks.
  • My iron intake is not bad, in fact I get some blood test results on Wednesday as my GP thinks I may be anaemic. I never knew it could cause constipation if you have too much though. THANKS.
  • Thanks. I like prunes so will get some of those to try.
  • I have the following: Breakfast at 7.00 a.m. Lunch at 12.00 p.m. Afternoon snack at 3.30 p.m. Dinner at 7.00 p.m. Bedtime snack (if hungry) at 9.00 p.m. Just go with whatever you feel, if you find you are hungry at a certain point most days then include a snack in your meal plan.
  • Soup! Dice equal quantities of sweet potato and red bell pepper. Put in a pan with some vegetable stock and a couple of cloves of gralic, cook until soft and then blitz in the blender. Yummy goodness! I also love them baked like a normal potato.
  • Steamed green beans tossed in a little olive oil & crushed garlic. Roasted Butternut Squash, bell peppers, courgettes, onions.....the list is endless! Stuffed aubergines, cut in half lengthways, scoop out the middle. Roast the shell with a little one cal spray for 15 minutes. Chop the middle and fry gently in a pan with…
  • I find the same but put the full feeling down to being more aware of the signals your brain gives to say that you are full. I used to just eat past that feeling of being full but no longer do, if my body tells me I'm full I stop eating. I do find that I cannot stomach food high in fat these days for which I am very…
  • What brand did you take? I'm currently being checked out by my GP as I am so tired all of the time and one of the tests they are doing is my B12 levels.
