  • This. is. awesome. So yes, it can be done.
  • I love Netflix and also see your point. I love House of Cards and now I also have the option to get into Scandal, yes I'm really late on that one, but I now have options. And I like options better than trying to figure out what the networks are doing, jumping all over the place with their prgramming and having to try and…
  • I remember last fall I went on a road trip to my cosuins opening of his new BBQ restaurant . . .sounds like a disaster from the start doesn't it? Anyway, between thoses fesitvites and highway food, I had managed to put on 5lbs over the weekend. It was sodium. It came fell off pretty quickly, I think within a week. Maybe…
  • Take a rest day, at least one per week. Some people do it for 30 days straight and God bless them, people that take rest days get great results as well. Most people that don't get through it is because of either injury or illness due to over training.
  • Ice helps to reduce inflammation, cramping and swelling. Heat helps to soothe and relax sore muscles. Don't know if that answers your question. I guess it depends on what you need at the moment.
  • Don't be sorry. I wish I could say the same it's snowing here once again and I'm seriously thinking of moving.
  • A Nice vegetable and chicken soup with garlic, cayenne and ginger is great for the sinuses, tasty, satisfying and nutritious.
  • Ditto on what everyone else said. And if you don't think that you don't have the time now . . .well it does not get easier. Wait till you get a job and your metabolism starts to slow down and you can't afford a gym membership, because you are starting your career at the bottom. Take advantage of the athlectic facilities…
  • Jaw dropping! Thanks so much for posting!
  • I just discovered x-country skiing! Since winter does not seem to have an end in sight here I decided to give it a try.. Judgeing from your profile pic that may not be an option for you, but if you are in a snowy part of the country, it's easy and enjoyable, it hardly feels like exercise and you burn a ton of calories.
  • Understand that the scale is not the only measure of success.
  • Yoga is great especially if you are recovering from injuries. If you've had physical therapy, you'll probably recognize alot of the moves. I take my classes at a community center and our instructor is awesome. Most of the people in my class are a bit older (like me  ) and some have one or two have physical…
  • I just completed Ripped in 30 before I started BR and yes, that was my first impression as well for phase 1 especially workout 1 & 2. And by this I mean that I did not have to use the "modifers" as much. I have added heavier weights (8lbs & 10 Lbs) and this is making it more challenging. Works outs 3 & 4 are more…
  • Heres a link group that started in January. People have been jumping in along the way so you be able to see posts from people who are 1 to 7 weeks in and get an idea of how the program is working. I just completed week 3 and I am enjoying is so far. I've also done 30 DS and Ripped in 30 and like this one the best, mainly…
  • I really love my Fitbit Force. I had bought th Fitbit Flex last Fall then shortly there after learned that the Force would be released. So I pre-ordered it. I've had my Force since mid-November and love it! Customer service is great if you have questions as is the Fitbit online communties. It's fun to have Fitbit friend to…
  • I tried something new - Cross country skiing, and I loved it!
  • There is data on this in the excersise database on MFP. Look under Skiing, cross country, then choose what you think your excersion level is. But, like fatdoob said, a HRM is more accurate.
  • I went cross country skiing with my grandson this morning and it was so much fun! Why haven't I tried this sooner? Thanks everyone for your tips! Trail_rnr, you were dead on about what to wear. We did the layers and were quite comfortable. We were not cold at all and it was around 20 degrees F , by Lake Michigan. We were…
  • I must admit when I saw the name of the topic all I could think about was a hamburger patty.
  • Subscribe to runners world. Keep doing what you are doing. You are going to have so much fun and will be so surprised at what you can do!
  • Yes! And when you start running outside, you will find it to be absolutely exhilarating. You'll see other runners and you will acknowledge each other with a smile, grunt or head nod and then you will know that you indeed are a true runner and won't even realize the distance and speed you achieved. It only matters that you…
  • You will love Ripped in 30! She switches it up a lot more and you get a new routine each week vs 10 days,.
  • Please take some rest days. Even Jillian said on a webcast that you need to take breaks. While many people have been successful doing it 30 days straight, most have not. Most that attempt the Shred with no rest days drop out around days 10-15 because of shin splints, joint, knee and back issues or end up getting the cold…
  • Great advice everyone! I'll check out that video, BW!
  • Sounds like a plan.
  • I would check with my Dr. first if I were you. You know how most exercise programs begin with this disclaimer? I personally think that this is especially true with kettlebells since it is dynamic lifting and part of the strength benefits of kettlebells is that your muscles are constantly adjusting to a changing center of…
  • The Rodney Yee or Giam videos are reasonably priced and easy to follow. There are also some of his videos on Youtube.

  • One of the assistants at our office has a big bowl of Godiva chocolate truffles on her desk today. I had one and I am so much the better for it . I'm still smiling. So I guess I don't get stressed out and enjoy treats when I give myself permission have have one. Especially since I've already reached my 10K steps for the…
