Drink some vinegar. That always helps me. Just stay away from that freaking dihydrogen monoxide. That stuff'll KILL YOU DEAD.

Depends on how strict you're being. In essence, it's "as few carbs as you can get away with" and then sub fats in for them. I'm following the 'keto' diet, so I try to keep below 15g per day, but generally end up around 30. Fiber "doesn't count." I would also ask, is the point to enter ketosis at ALL? Because that affects…

Not so much anymore.

Diet fads, fine. But research is research. Look into it before writing it off. Is ignorance worth more than potential health?

That's what threw me. If I'm planning a "normal" exercise regimen, then it is now part of my "normal" daily stuff. I guess I just got stuck on that. Makes sense now. Thanks. I don't have to run from the police. I'm white. (OH SNAP)

Ahhh, okay... which addresses another q I've had, which is when I DID set that up, am I supposed to take into account my planned weekly workouts for that estimate, or not? Because if I don't include the planned workouts, I have to call myself "sedentary," although it also (iirc) mentioned including exercise as part of it -…

Sounds good, but gimme a straw for the bacon grease!

What? Eat the kale! Then lick the plate. Then ask for more scallops.

ZOMG of all the things I miss, sourdough is close to the top of the list. Sourdough toast with butter? HEAVEN!
-
I tried deep-fried kale not too long ago. I can't get the timing right, though, it burns very quickly...

Actually, another poster addressed that a page back. Basically the ADA hasn't caught up to current research. [edit] Also: Costco is my friend with respect to beef sticks :)

Oh, sure - that makes sense. And I think on that point we actually agree. My quote was about EXCESS insulin, not any and all insulin. It's the overproduction that causes a problem, and I will stand by my position that excess carbs leads to excess insulin leads to resistance. I have to say it's been very well documented. I…

And this will become an issue when people pound down the protein the way they do sugar and starch. Happily, this is already on the no-no list because it'll destroy your kidneys. What are you more likely to snack on several times a day - a supersize coke and bag of chips, or a pound of beef sticks? What's at the base of the…

It's remarkable how unremarkable these threads are when preaching to the choir :(

Unfortunately, demonising fat is based on a discredited study which relied on cherry-picked data to support its findings, and became such a "given" that it's not surprising that it's taken so long to be turned around.
-
Whoah. I'ma need a citation for that one. I could throw out "too much fat gives you brain cancer and botflies" too, eh? And from what I've read, yes, ingested fat is immediately stored. The problem arises when it is never burned again. Eating low-carb (from a CICO sense) forces your stored fat to become your fuel. Eating…

I'm going to do what I always do: Eat what I feel like. This is only a small period out of a much, much longer-term plan.

It's NEVER good to go to lunch at Long John Silver's. Eww.

Oh, look, I *am* a member here! Totally forgot about it...
-
Oh, I forgot about pumpkin seeds! Eggs, generally, or cheese sticks. Macadamia nuts or pecans, but less often. Chia seeds, I keep a bunch of them in my desk drawer at work and will have a spoonful from time to time. Omega-3's baby! Mostly cheese, tbh.

Well, HERE'S the problem: Follow the money, sheeple! No wonder the findings supported LCHF!

I think we're building up to a more widespread and thorough test. (Or at least, I'd like to believe we are...) The ball's just starting to get rolling on this stuff, after ~40 years of going the wrong direction.

Try keto. (No, seriously.)

HAH! Great minds think alike B)

Man. They should really require some basic logic courses before allowing people on the internet. I did not miss that part. And, had he maybe couched his answer in that, rather than jumping in with "THEY BOTH SUCK JUST EAT FOOD" then I doubt very much we'd be at this point. But changing the question in your head based on…

What's "white knighting?" The first couple pages after he chimed in (it seems like) he was trying to address what "clean" meant - which I think EVERYONE has a different opinion about - specifically fats, manmade, transfats, polyunsaturated, yadda yadda... And about page four I stopped. Because I see HIS point, and I agree…

(I hope I got the quote nests correct...) Lemme summarize from another point of view, that of the high school English essay question: OP: "Compare and contrast Paleo and "Clean Eating." Are they similar? Different? Please discuss." ndj1979: "The answer is C) None of the above." Do you see where this might cause some…
