Pink salt vs "iodized" salt?
I just learned this: Common table salt, or sodium chloride, is recognized as a toxin by the body - a cellular poison - and the body wants to get rid of it as fast as possible. This places an unnecessary strain on the body's elimination organs. Sodium chloride also dehydrates the body, causing cell death. Sodium chloride…

Sort-of advertising: WOOT.COM has exercise DVDs on sale right now...
That'd be right here. Try to keep it under control ;)

Stomach rumbling? Hungry? How do you tell the difference between...
...between "stomach grumbling because it EXPECTS food in it" hungry, and "genuinely need sustenance of some kind" hungry? I mean, I don't want to STARVE myself, but if it's just out of habit - even autonomic habit - I don't feel much point to it.

No, you don't poop it out...

Liquor and... side effects...
Okay, so I'm well aware of the reported higher sensitivity to alcohol while on keto... (btw I am on keto, not just LC) I seem to be genetically "blessed" to be able to avoid the vicious hangovers, also reported. HOWEVER... (And here we are entering TMI territory, perhaps.) After an evening with even just a couple of…

Good news for people who like eating fat!
SCIENCE! "New research links diabetes, heart disease risk to diet high in carbs, not fat." I'm gonna do them a few better and quadruple it.

This has been bugging me for a while... "net" calories burned?
Okay, this is actually something that I've been wondering about in the back of my head for quite some time now. Shouldn't we be only logging calories that are above and beyond what we would have normally burned? Example: Say I go for a run and my HRM says I burned 200 calories. So I would come here and log 200 calories and…

LCHF and Cancer...
Please, folks, tell me how this has already been debunked. And while we're on the subject, anyone here from Sweden?

Why does exercising make me LESS hungry?
It's sort of counter-intuitive. On mornings when I get a workout in, I find I'm usually not hungry until much later in the morning. On mornings when I basically roll out of bed and hit the morning routine and end up at work, my stomach is all GNARR GNARR FEED ME, SEYMOUR! What gives? It seems like my body should be asking…

Heel spurs?
This is vaguely fitness-related, right? I can't get into a specialist for another freaking MONTH, but I figure at least one of you good folks has had issues with running and achilles problems and foot pain, etc. I fully realize this is not a medical site, etc, etc, etc. I solemnly swear not to take anything anyone says…

Pooping - this is a serious question...
Okay, first time poster and I'm a *little* embarrassed to be posting about pooping, but hey... this is a good crowd, right? (I apologize profusely if this isn't the right forum, but it seemed to be the "least inappropriate.") The upshot is: On mornings that go like this... 1. Workout 2. Weigh in 3. *cough*Daily…

If gas always rises, how can we fart?
(This is a serious question, but I figured it would get a better reception here than in, say, the "Fitness and exercise" forum...) Example: If I put some, say, playdough into a ziploc with water and leave some air at the top before I zip it, it's a fair bet that the gas will be at the top, and the liquid will surround the…

Hey! Robert Asprin is DEAD?
I went to find contact info for the guy because my boys are digging the "Myth" series as much as I did when I was younger, and I wanted to send him a 'nice note from a long-time fan.' My achilles is revolting. Need some advice!
Hey all - I am in desperate need of some advice here. I'm a new-to-the-game runner (started in April) and a time-to-time Nordic Track and Jillian Michaels fan. I also enjoy biking quite a bit. I've managed to lose almost 40 lbs so far with this stuff, and of course some judicious menu adjustments. The problem is, as of…
