Oh, that movie's fantastic! Hudson Hawk! Bruce Willis as a show-tune-singing catburglar hired to rob the Vatican.
-
Oh, my ego has got to get me in on this. [edit] Ok, sorry, that was NOT my first thought. "Eventually..." was my first thought. That comment was me just wanting to get in on it. Also: That cat isn't supposed to be my profile pic. WTF?
-
Cripes. I can only get a couple hundred in on my stair stepper. Doesn't anyone have a life outside the exercise room here?
-
Seriously? How about cream?
-
Oh woot, Google is my friend. Also, apparently typically contains uranium. Not much, but still...
-
HAH! Yeah, I figured as much. Facebook "share" from a friend. Okay, so what else do I need to fire back a good debunking?
-
I think everyone needs to know about (and revitalize) the "Browncoats" community forum here...
-
Darn. I do like that mysterious past thing, though...
-
Hah! Except for step 11, that was me, too :) If I ever go back wholesale, my "chips" are going to be the loaded fries at the Outback Steakhouse...
-
I'm also not one for cravings, fortunately. (knock on bacon) That said - I will take teaspoons of grated parmesan cheese, put them on parchment paper on a plate in the microwave (generally 7 to a batch, in a hexagon with one in the center) and then nuke it for 60-90 seconds. (YMMV, microwaves vary, yadda yadda yadda...)…

My biggest solution would be to make your own meals and foods, quit with the prepackaged stuff. That way you can guarantee that what's in there is ONLY what you want. Also look for a peanut butter that only has peanuts in it. (Okay, and salt.) Check www.cavemanketo.com for some excellent recipes.

It doesn't come out whole, you're just seeing the leftover kernel shells...

Sleep.

Calorie deficit is the main thing. If you do go low-carb, you'll also benefit from losing a crapload of stored water, which will affect your scale measurement while not being due to fat loss. OTOH you'll have to drink more water as a result, so there's that. Good luck!
-
Looks like I picked the wrong week to start keto...
-
I... wha... You've gotta be kidding me. OMG EVERYONE! Cohort studies don't show causation, therefore they're totally invalid! I sure hope nobody bases ANY NATIONAL POLICIES on them or anything! And SHAME UPON YOU, New England Journal of Medicine, for promoting such BLATANT PSEUDOSCIENCE! What a useless rag you are!
-
Egad. Well, I'll consider it, I guess. I suppose you're right about no food triggering hunger, at least
-
Well, the 1st one (notably from 2002, looonnng before the revised theories picked up steam) certainly doesn't. I got a chuckle out of reading that. But the NEJM one certainly seems to:
-
Not addressing a single point in his post destroys yours. Why not just shout something about Hitler, invoke Godwin, and end this farce right now?
-
NO! Some carbs are chair cushions, and some are weasels. Or, wait, is that calories? MAN I get lost in these threads.
-
FIBER. EAT MOAR FIBER! Also: If you're undereating, isn't that sort of the POINT of being on a diet?
-
Right. Primarily fructose and fiber, which are not the types of carbohydrate we're talking about. vs You certainly are a walking library, though. I'm digging these articles!
-
You mean tens of thousands of years....
-
ELECTROLYTES. But that seems to have been covered. Carry on :)
-
Me and this guy, both...
-
Dude. That's empirical pseudo-science. Try to keep up.

Hah. Leading question FTW! I'ma say NONE. I sure wouldn't have. To give examples though, from the big list of the insulin indices (p.1269) based on the white bread standard, it looks like, frankly, ALL OF THEM. Except baked beans, which I don't consider a proper low-carb food anyway. It was purchased at a supermarket and…
-
Well, except that insulin has the known side-effect of blocking leptin's signal that you're satiated and should stop eating. I agree that this is a digression, though. The point is simply that the decades-long paranoia of saturated fats is misplaced.
-
Okay, so while I'm willing to concede that (a) the interviewer at the link you posted is asking leading questions, and (b) correlation is not causality, I still would like to know how you consider meta-analyses to be "pseudoscience." Pseudoscience is a special word for me, reserved for things like homeopathy and astrology…

I think you misinterpreted "discuss" to mean "mock." Also, that was 8 months ago. Seriously, man, if you've got nothing constructive to say here, go find something useful to do. Crack walnuts with your pecs or something.
