  • Sometimes I bring a chair in the kitchen and sit while I work on cooking. When jars don't open, I tap the edge of the lid on the counter and that usually does the trick. I also agree on getting cans with the pull tabs whenever possible. I buy frozen veggies too.
  • You can check this site to find a local arthritis foundation and classes that may be in your area. I found my water class through them. http://www.arthritis.org/programs.php I am doing a water class, walking and elliptical when I can.
  • I worked out yesterday and this morning my bones in my hands and ankles hurt. It's always worse in the morning at at the end of the day. I have to throw in my opinion on shoes too. I have some of the GoFit Skecher shoes and they are AMAZING. I didn't buy them because I thought they actually shape your butt. I read the…
  • I am also on prednisone and have been on it for over a year. I took myself off of it but had enough pain that my doc told me to keep taking it for now. Oh hell, I almost forgot to give myself my Enbrel shot today! Anyways, I also have mood swings but I forgot that the steroids do that to you! I'm glad I found other people…
  • Why would you do this to yourself?

  • Wow, it sure seems like everyone is over thinking this. Six pages of comments? I would just lay off the talk for a while and when things settle down, have a real conversation with him about his thoughts. Maybe he's afraid you are going back to your days when you had the eating disorder. Maybe he's just tired of hearing it.…
  • I also have Hashimoto's, along with other autoimmune diseases. I thought when I got put on Synthroid, my metabolism would go up and the weight would fall right off. WRONG. Yes, everyone is different. But plan on the worst, and hope for the best. Eat well, move more and factor in your age. As we age, our metabolism slows…
  • I always record mine, when I remember to do it.
  • My baby just turned 6 months! I am looking for support on how to deflate the squishy belly and to beat my carb addiction. Although I didn't eat a ton while pregnant, I ate mostly carbs and I'm STILL trying to regain my self-control.
  • So about 1/3 of the posters in response to this question are trolls. Just because a person is ignorant about a subject or term, does not mean he/she is stupid. If you don't know what ignorance is, look it up. I'm sorry this person tried to find support and information here and was treated so poorly by some of the users. If…
  • This is probably the answer you don't want to hear but if you have injured your knee, find some workouts that won't worsen the injury. Any higher impact workout will just make it worse. You may consider swimming, walking or elliptical until your injury heals.
  • I LOVE Jillian Michael's and all her workouts but they almost always hurt in a bad way. I think it's all the lunges and squats. I'm on the waiting list to do an arthritis aqua program.
  • Let me first say that I think going GF will not hurt you so it's worth a try. I did try it and I saw no difference other than feeling a little less bloated. I found the diet to be hard to follow and expensive. I also noticed that since celiac's disease has gained more public attention and thus their diet, it seems like…
  • Hello. I've been diagnosed for three years. I had a baby five months ago and am still struggling to control my pain as well as drop about 10-15 lbs. I am really looking for people who can commiserate and understand what it's like to have this and to live with it every day. I also have fibro and endometriosis, all which…
  • MFP put me at 1200 calories too. I'm 5'8", set at sedentary and 168 lbs. I was so weak and my stomach hurt with hunger all the time. I manually overrode the settings to up my calories to around 1400. I don't think 1200 for a person who is working out consistently is healthy. I hope the OP is having a better time of it now.
  • Personally I think that Doc Oz is a media *kitten* and each week he seems to have some new miracle fat loss diet. Yikes. Too much calcium can lead to kidney stones. Have fun passing those out! I've heard that high fiber makes your poop float. Who knows. I swear, Oz will do anything for ratings.
  • No I'm not doing her meal plan. I don't have the time to cook everything up like that, or the money to buy so much unprocessed and organics. However I am keeping to the amount of calories she's laid out, which is better than nothing I suppose :) I just don't know if I need to eat back those calories or not, so most of the…
  • I just finished week 1 of Phase 1. I only lost one lb but I did have too much salt last night so that might have messed up my weigh-in today. I have not been following her meal plan. It's very Jillian: no processed foods, organic, all made from scratch. Some of the meals sound pretty good and I will try them eventually.…
  • My advice is to listen to your body but also push yourself just a bit. Stretching is great, as is warming up before your work out. Also, stay active. Yes, it hurts but the less you do, the more you hurt when you are forced to do little things like go shopping or other everyday tasks. Heating pads and ice therapy are great…
  • I finished Week 1 of Phase 1. I'm pretty tired out but am proud of myself for just getting through one week with a three month old and RA and Fibro. I only lost one pound but I only have about 10-20 lbs to lose so it's going to be stubborn coming off. I can already see definition in my arms and hips and my butt looks…
  • I wish people would stop bringing up this debate over and over again on every internet site. There is no winner here. It's whatever you have to do to take care of your family. It's whatever is good for your family. There is no "this mom versus this mom." All moms who love and care for their children are great, whether they…
  • Holy cow, I don't have the energy to double up the workouts. I'm just following them as she's lined them out in her program. Today I'm on Week 1, Workout 2 for the second time this week. I'm pretty sore from the last four days but will try to carry through today and tomorrow. I can't wait to rest on Sunday!! I'm also not…
  • i did this workout before getting pregnant and, along with walking most days, lost an inch on my hips and had much better muscle definition and strength. I didn't lose a lot of weight because I wasn't dieting. Stick with it. It WILL give you results and like someone else said, who can't spare 20 minutes on this? It's worth…
