@ JackDiesel That would depend on the size of the 'canal' your dinghy is in!!

Define 'little'... :)

Or....more accurately (to them)..... super stupid!!! :)

Couldn't have said it better myself!! I started running this past April and had many training runs (just ran my first full marathon on Nov 18th) in the rain.....sometimes torrential downpours. I've had runs where I ran through water that was almost halfway up my shins! My feet were soaked but it didn't bother me at all. I…

I love pickles as well. I've never understood the 'zero calorie' thing since I assume there HAS to be calories is some way, shape or form. Anyway, if you're a distance runner like me, drink pickle juice before running to keep from cramping up!! It works great! Also, if you exercise you're going to 'sweat' some of that out…

Keep in mind that calories are not just any ol' calories....you still need to eat 'good' calories. If you eat 1200 calories of crap food, I find it hard to believe that you'll make much progress!

One thing that I haven't seen anyone say yet is that your running shoes need to be AT LEAST a half size larger than your 'normal' shoes. Your feet will swell when running and you can get blisters because your shoes aren't big enough.Thorlo socks are awesome too.....but just about any type of compression sock should work…

Excuse me for saying so but you need to find another doctor. To say that running 'tears your knees up' is just plain horrible misinformation. Running INCORRECTLY can certainly damage your knees and/or hips. After 3 knee surgeries, I was informed that I need to have a total knee replacement of my right knee. I've been…

24......and I'll say eyes (since I can't see much else!)

I absolutely agree with this. My BMI is at 26 (I think) right now and according to the BMI, my 'ideal' weight is 162 pounds. I weighed 207 lbs as of this morning. Please let me know if you think I have 45 more lbs to lose!!! :)

I eat a banana almost every morning. I also eat blueberries, strawberries, cherries, apples, nectarines, watermelon.....sheesh, name it!! I've lost almost 70 lbs since January. I'll let you be the judge! :)

I used the 5k Runner iPhone app and just finished my 2nd 5k last Saturday (Joplin Memorial). I ran it in :31.24, which was a personal best for me. I started out at 280 lbs and began by walking as much as I could, then progressing to jogging some in between. Once I found the 5k Runner app, things just took off! I started…

I ran my first 5k the weekend before last. I am 45, have never run before in my life and did it in 31:51. I have been using the 5k Runner iPhone app to train. At the time I ran that race, I was in week 6. I just started week 8 - the final week - and will be running my 2nd 5k next weekend (5/19). That said....and like…

"SuperSize Me!!!!" - what an eye opening movie.

Think I'll have my wife make this for me!! Will substitute the eggs for egg white though. :)

I've been doing this for 100 days (today!). I weigh myself EVERY morning. I can tell you that I experience my best days on days that I have exercised and NOT eaten those calories back. I get 1490 calories a day and that's what I try to stick to. There have been days that I've exercised and eaten an extra 200-300…

Mowing the grass is great for you (as long as you're not using a riding mower)!!! ;)

I have one tattoo....and I do drink a lot. Of water. :)

My wife and I did that yesterday (went to the local running store and got fitted). Unfortunately, I had just bought a pair of running shoes about 3 weeks ago and it turns out that they aren't the right kind for me. :( Good news I got the right kind now and I'm excited to get back to my workouts again. I'm on week 5, day 2…

I am also doing C25k (actually 5k Runner) and am on Week 5, Day 2. I've gone from 42:00 to 37:00 in the time I've been doing this. I have never run in my life other than sports as a kid (and I wouldn't necessarily have called it 'running' then). If you had told me that I could run for 6 minutes straight - my last run was 5…

45....I thought it was too late for me to get back into shape (especially given my knee and back issues) but I've lost 45 pounds in 3 months!! I fully intend to get to 60 lbs lost by the time I'm done!

Oh and one other thing....this whole 'white rice is bad for you' thing makes me nauseous. Being half Japanese, I grew up eating rice. If eating white rice is so bad for you, why are Asians considered some of the most healthy people on Earth?? The difference - and as the cliche goes - is moderation. I got fat because I ate…

I eat as many carbs as I want. As long as I stay within my daily calorie allowance, I'm good. I eat way too many fruits to be concerned with carb intake. I try to stick to a 60-30-10 percentage but it doesn't always work out that way. If I am going to 'skimp' on one of the three, it's going to be fat. I do eat plenty of…

Great!! I am also doing the C25k training and just finished Week 5, Day 1 (R5-W3-R6-W3-R5).....I was absolutely DREADING it but I was able to finish the entire thing without stopping. I have made a couple of 5k training runs since I've started. My first was about 42:00. Since then, I've done 2 more and went down to 39:00…

I started off at 290 pounds (I didn't start MFP until I was already down 10 lbs). I went through the profile numbers and was given about 1740 cals/day. I chose to lose 2 lbs/week. Typically, I eat between 1100 and 1400 calories. It's VERY rare that I end up within 200-300 calories of my total allowance. I do normally eat…
