  • MFP orgy ?!!??!!
  • @melmelw03 it's 2015 who doesn't keep their *kitten* up-kept these days......
  • **free** mustache rides???? for @MisterRok
  • I understand.....that article is 5+ years old now. Just so you know. He has done many studies since then which lean heavily in the direction of higher frequency. Overall weekly volume will dictate hypertrophy the most though.
  • My point was he was just going off personal experience....you know as well as I do how well personal experience works on MFP. Anyways....point taken. I re-tract my sarcastic post from prior.
  • There are also plenty of scientific studies done by people like Brad Schoenfeld who conclude that increased frequency 2x / week or more of the same muscle groups is the way to go...ala Full Body routines... I'm sure you know who he is though....
  • Because the magazines and BB.com is king! **all hail**
  • I'm not disagreeing with anyone who likes 5/3/1, I've used it myself and love it. What people are failing to understand is the OP is "overwhelmed" by the complexity of the 5/3/1 or other programs based on percentages. I'm simply trying to help them get on a basic hypertrophy program they can follow very easily.....rinse &…
  • n=1 is not a valid agreement.
  • Care to link any sources of this information?
  • For the right goals; yes, I agree with you 100%
  • I understand that. Sometimes people just need straight sets with linear progression to start out with. I can understand why OP is confused.
  • I didn't say you were trying to derail. I expressed my disagreement. Too many folks throw around 5x5 and 5/3/1 like everyone needs/should follow these programs. I'm even an huge fan of both programs, just not for everyone.
  • @HawleyGriffin and @ScorpionQwean they both balance me out........
  • This ain't no Cash on Delivery system missy.........
  • I don't agree, if the OP is wanting to build maximum muscle then she should focus on a hypertrophy program.
  • Rule #4 & #5 directly relate
  • I don't remember if I have posted this before for you, but I highly recommend you take the time to read through this. We get so caught up in what we see and hear on the internet and what not. I was guilty of it too. I've been doing a full body type routine for two years now and I keep gain strength and size little by…
  • You are over thinking things in my opinion. Compound lifts will give you a great foundation overall to start with. Isolation movements should come in later down the road.....even for someone working on their physique.
  • You want what everyone wants.....get stronger and get bigger muscles... Unfortunately, it is very hard to do both concurrently while being effective for both. Progress overload (lifting more weight over time) is the king to muscle growth and strength. You should really check out the program I linked for you. If…
  • Not 5kg a week...... 5 lbs or approx. 2-2.5kgs weekly. Soreness does not delineate good vs. bad workout...... just so you know.
  • You know people come in here for real advice and they constantly get this bland and redundant information from you two..........
  • I did ICF 5x5 for a good 8+ months. I definitely saw both strength and muscle gains, but would agree it was more strength than muscle. While compound lifts may be boring they do give you the most bang for your buck. I'd highly recommend Jason Blaha's (creator of ICF 5x5) linear hypertrophy program. Here is the link...let…
  • full body 3x/week hasn't failed me yet......
  • Have you tried www.blackironbeast.com for calculating your lifts? There are plenty of good Hypertrophy dedicated programs. 5/3/1 is a strength based program though...what is your goal?
  • Soooo...this is what happens when you get caught messin' around and flirtin' with those "happily married " men on here.........
  • Great post! It's my opinion that most people over exaggerate their micronutrient "needs."
  • Hate is such a strong word @Sugar_Pill .... How about despise???? Oh and you can have the snow all you want!!! After 30+ years of it I can't wait to retire in Arizona!!!!
  • You are very welcome.
  • Agree with @sijomial . Most "trainers" subscribe to "bro-science." 99% of lifters are non-competitive and drug free lifters. Here is some great information by a well respected expert. http://weightrainer.net/training/rules.html http://weightrainer.net/training/beginners.html
