Use the MFP recipe calculator! Just enter in the total of all ingredients and it will take care of computing the number of calories per serving

Speaking from deep in the heart of Texas here! The standard "chips and salsa" they bring to the table first will really knock you off track pretty quickly if you don't have a strategy. Mine is to count the number of chips I eat. to remain mindful and to know how much to record. Salsa is cheap, but not cheese dip or…

I believe this is a crucial piece of the success puzzle, and vastly underrated by beginners. Too many people believe that a slip has ruined everything. In fact it can be the beginning of everything, and logging it is part of the solution. Logging after a binge is a way of turning failure into success. Logging your failure…

Running got boring (and painful) to me also, so I switched to bicycling. But also consider that cardio does little to improve one's muscles. Cardio burns energy. It shrinks fat stored up in various pouches around the body, or burns off recently-consumed calories so they don't turn into pouches. But it doesn't make your…

Learn your muscle groups. A book can help. Maybe try "New Rules of Lifting for Women" Or "The Women's Health Big Book of Exercises"

Since you are still young your skin might bounce back. Strength training can help a great deal, especially in the core / abs area. What LadeB89 said about BF % sounds like a good plan -- get below 10% and you'll see for sure how much a problem you have. Also read a lot on the topic. Don't think you are limited to surgery…

You'll probably lose a lot more per week at the start. The rate of loss will taper off. Be sure to reset your calorie budget after losing every 20 lbs or so.

Yup, dropped from size 13 to a size 12 (but still wear 13s for athletic shoes). Also, my shoes are more loose on the top. I've put extra padding in the bottom of all of my dress shoes.

I love this thread, and the audacity of the first post! It's amazing how much crap there is on this site, while this piece of wisdom is so desperately needed but not discussed... even unknown! That flavor is definitely my least favorite. In fact I like all the others and avoid that one specifically. Let me suggest trying again 1) with a different flavor, and 2) after heating one up in the microwave oven for 12 seconds. I agree, out of the wrapper they are too chewy -- tough, in fact. But out of the microwave…

Try a microwave-able breakfast sausage bowl that's been made with egg whites, low-fat cheese, and turkey sausage. Jimmy Dean's has one, and there are a few supermarket-branded ones. Takes 3 minutes to nuke it... I usually add a slice of fat-free american cheese and half-way through the heat-up process, and eat it with a…

I was fat because of what I now call the "food panic"... a reptilian urge to eat, normally just beneath the level of my conscious brain -- but sometimes a light bulb would come on and I would wonder: "Why I am I eating so much, all the time, and even eating more when I'm full?" "Why am I unable to resist the compulsion to…

The response above is what I meant by orthodoxy. Though I didn't keep calorie counts at the time, I did eat that way every day and I can calculate now what I was eating. Lunch alone was almost 1500 calories. Every day. I mean, at Burger King the double whopper with cheese and bacon and no bun is over 1000 calories, and…

I don't believe Atkins dieters are losing weight because of calories in vs. calories out. I believe there's a different metabolism at work. Before you start beating me with the energy-equation-orthodoxy stick, you should know that I am a firm believer in counting calories. It works for me... I've lost 90 lbs and kept it…

Try a low-calorie dressing. Edited: You might not mind light mayo in there. I use Hellman's light and enjoy it as much as I do the regular stuff. If you've tried it in other stuff but not the tuna, you may find that the tuna flavor is strong enough to make the difference between regular mayo and light mayo insignificant.…

That's why I exercise! haha! In truth, that's why I *started* exercising... I dieted for a long time and lost a quite a bit without any exercise, but wanted to eat a bit more so started running and biking. I do exercise still for other reasons but that's still a big reason for sure. It's not a crime. I'm sure Michael…
